But, the event of the arts getting more funding than sports, in a high school, is extremely rare, which results in most high school productions being lack-luster at the most. So when the arts do receive lots of funding, and they produce a show of such scale and magnificence as this production, you really have to stop and appreciate it.
Summit High gets ZERO production budget. All shows are self-supporting through ticket sales (80%), program ad sales (5%), and funding raising (15%). Musical productions run between $50,000 to $60,000. The real secret sauce is the army of volunteer parents who make virtually every costume, aid in set building, and handle all logistics. My wife, the director Anne Poyner, is truly blessed.
More like what can happen in a school district where the parents have more money and time to donate and help, and the desire to do so. Unfortunately, there is a huge difference between schools in affluent places and those in other places

Sean McManus (Bert) is now at Boston Conservatory and hopes to be a pro. Claire Fitzpatrick (MP) is at Boston College majoring in communications, I believe. But she sings in several choral groups. You are right, though, she has the stuff to be a pro as well.

I'm pleased to say that Sean McManus, who plays Bert here, made his Broadway debut the night of June 15, 2022 in the ensemble of "Beetlejuice" on Broadway, at the Marquis Theatre.
The entire cast performed beautifully, but the young man who played Bert is amazing. His portrayal of Bert, who ties the entire story together, is charming. What stage presence, a joy to watch! This young man is immensely talented.
Why does no one cheer for George? He's such an important character. When I played him I got a lot of cheers, yet none for him? This guy did such a phenomenal job!
This performance was phenomenal! As a former Disney Entertainer, 7 yrs at Walt Disney World, I know the hard work and dedication it takes to make the Disney Magic come alive! I applaud you all. May you all keep the Magic alive and close to your hearts. BRAVO!!

I know I’m six years late but I want to say this is one of the best plays I have ever seen it’s so good I don’t know how many times I have seen this now Peace love and happiness to everyone
While the actors and actresses were absolutely incredible, don’t get me wrong, the tech crew did an amazing job. The set was easily interchangeable and fit the scene greatly. They really made sure that it would work with the blocking and choreography. Costume and makeup was also phenomenal. Also, let’s not forget those who work the lights and sound. The show would not come together and seem so professional without that. Tech is often forgotten, and without them the show just wouldn’t be as well put together and professional. I hope to be competing in a technical category next year, and this has really gotten me thinking about more than looks when it comes to costume: is it functional for what’s happening in the scene? Does it fit the character and their emotions at the time? Will they be able to change in between scenes? I thank the tech who make everything work behind the curtains. God knows what (extra) chaos would ensue without them. (‘Cause let’s be honest it’s always chaotic in theatre, tech or no tech 😂)

I have just come back from London’s West End Mary Poppins the musical.... and I must say that this “high school” version is REALLY GOOD - so good I would say it is VERY close to the Broadway/West End productions. VERY WELL DONE GUYS!!!!!

That was BRILLIANT! Sometimes high school/college performances have more energy and enthusiasm than professional ones, and this is no exception. These young people have very real talent. As a Brit, I was also impressed with the accents!

During the toy scene, I must say that the letter box idea was absolutely brilliant. For those who had not noticed Michael (Banks), Jane (Banks), and Mary Poppins are standing on letter blocks with their initials on them.
I am trying SO hard to sing that note as stable as possible for Mary Poppins auditions this Friday. A girl has dreams... Also, completely agree with you. The quality of this production is unbelievable! I hope ours turns out nearly as amazing as this one!
This is great theatre. All the elements work together so well. I've done this in professional summer stock and it wasn't nearly as good as this. While still a huge show it is simple and has everything you want without any sacrifices. Proud of all involved in this production. Keep up the good work, and whomever has the inclination to continue in theatre, please do!!!
I loved how close you could see to the stage, that you could watch in HD quality, and how you could watch the entire show. The cast was amazing and the show fantastic! This was a perfect material to help me, because I'm going to be auditioning for Jane soon and all the other videos I could find were the first act, or very far away from the stage. Great job!
I wish my high school had this much talent!!! All of the actors are phenomenal and the ensemble has incredible singers and dancers. I really thought this was a performing arts school so I was shocked when I looked up to see that this is a public school!! Very well done!!
You guys must agree, the assholes who disliked this don't like kids too much, and don't appreciate that they aren't prodigies yet-They're still in high school. They were amazing, and even if they weren't, they are still learning. They spent probably 3-6 months on this, and damn was it worth it!
Having just finished a production of this very show with some of the most amazing cast, crew, and pit I've ever worked with, and with closing night being yesterday, I'm utterly amazed that this school was able to put together this amazing set and the best choreo I've ever seen in the normal amount of time given for a musical; this show was very impressive, and every one of these amazing actors deserves the best in their careers after college.
6 years after this performance, still gold. I perform the jr version in one week, this hyped me up so much. Btw, the end actually made me tear up. So talented.
(disclaimer: I skipped straight to Step In Time since it's my favorite and haven't watched any other scene yet) I saw this show on Broadway. It was spectacular. I also recently saw it at a local regional theatre. This performance is much better than that regional theatre performance. The choreography is much more similar to the Broadway version. At the local theatre, Bert didn't even walk up the walls, and his accent sucked. There was almost nothing similar to Broadway, and the energy was lacking a bit. THIS, THOUGH, is amazing. Every element that made the Broadway show special was kept in and well done. And y'all are only high schoolers?? Wow. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

BEST ONE ON TH-cam!!! I’m playing Jane and I’ve been in this production before. This is the best full run of Mary Poppins on youtube from a High School. God bless those pit players too they did really well with such a complex score. Set design is a 10/10. Overall 10/10 AMAZING. Also the fact the Bert and George Banks are brothers (twins?) is so funny. Two talented children in one family!!!!

During the toy scene, I must say that the letter box idea was absolutely brilliant.
For those who had not noticed Michael (Banks), Jane (Banks), and Mary Poppins are standing on letter blocks with their initials on them.

This is great theatre. All the elements work together so well. I've done this in professional summer stock and it wasn't nearly as good as this. While still a huge show it is simple and has everything you want without any sacrifices. Proud of all involved in this production. Keep up the good work, and whomever has the inclination to continue in theatre, please do!!!

I loved how close you could see to the stage, that you could watch in HD quality, and how you could watch the entire show. The cast was amazing and the show fantastic! This was a perfect material to help me, because I'm going to be auditioning for Jane soon and all the other videos I could find were the first act, or very far away from the stage. Great job!

I wish my high school had this much talent!!! All of the actors are phenomenal and the ensemble has incredible singers and dancers. I really thought this was a performing arts school so I was shocked when I looked up to see that this is a public school!! Very well done!!

You guys must agree, the assholes who disliked this don't like kids too much, and don't appreciate that they aren't prodigies yet-They're still in high school. They were amazing, and even if they weren't, they are still learning. They spent probably 3-6 months on this, and damn was it worth it!

Having just finished a production of this very show with some of the most amazing cast, crew, and pit I've ever worked with, and with closing night being yesterday, I'm utterly amazed that this school was able to put together this amazing set and the best choreo I've ever seen in the normal amount of time given for a musical; this show was very impressive, and every one of these amazing actors deserves the best in their careers after college.
This was phenomenal. It brings back so many memories! They played it in our local theather and I loved it as a child.
6 years after this performance, still gold. I perform the jr version in one week, this hyped me up so much.
Btw, the end actually made me tear up. So talented.

I saw this show on Broadway. It was spectacular. I also recently saw it at a local regional theatre.
This performance is much better than that regional theatre performance. The choreography is much more similar to the Broadway version. At the local theatre, Bert didn't even walk up the walls, and his accent sucked. There was almost nothing similar to Broadway, and the energy was lacking a bit. THIS, THOUGH, is amazing. Every element that made the Broadway show special was kept in and well done. And y'all are only high schoolers?? Wow. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Also, just gotta say, these sets are bomb!! I was in theatre production in high school and they were nothing compared to these 😂

YOU GUYS ARE RIDICULOUS. Yeah, I am shouting. Across the board brilliant. Terrific. from the pit orchestra, set, lighting etc and beyond. Sean McManus absolutely carried this. Beautiful performance. His dialogue timing was faultless as was his singing. He never played Burt for laughs. He played it for honest, What a talented young man. I wanted to hate his accent but it never faltered. Wow Wow Wow. Major kudos to Claire. A wonderful Poppins. Thank you for sharing. I was prepared to hate this. WRONG. There will be life after COVID. Love and respect

BEST ONE ON TH-cam!!! I’m playing Jane and I’ve been in this production before. This is the best full run of Mary Poppins on youtube from a High School. God bless those pit players too they did really well with such a complex score. Set design is a 10/10. Overall 10/10 AMAZING. Also the fact the Bert and George Banks are brothers (twins?) is so funny. Two talented children in one family!!!!
