    NOTE: At 2:07 you describe the car in the image as a 1961 Rolls Royce - with twin headlights? THAT didn't happen until 1963 when the Silver Cloud 111 came out. The Cloud 111 was introduced in late 1962 but marketed as a 1963 model. Why? I have no idea but that's how it was. The car in this part of the clip is around a 1966 to 1968 (or there abouts) model Phantom VI. Still, they're all beautiful cars and MANY thanks for sharing. Take care.

    2:04 The Rolls-Royce Phantom V was produced from 1959. The Silver Ghost was not the first Rolls-Royce to ''hit the streets''. The first Rolls-Royce motorcars were the 10hp, the 15hp, the 20hp and the 30hp. The 40/50hp was produced from 1906, but the Silver Ghost was produced in 1907 with the registration number AX201. The Spirit of Ecstasy was produced from 1911. ''Most perfect''? Perfection is an absolute. A coop houses chickens, a cut-back car is called a coupé, because their body designs are cut short. Seven hundred thousand? Come on!

    Don't get me wrong, restoring these cars that may have otherwise been codemned is admirable, and some interesting new things can emerge where no one expected. I also understand the advantages of an electric car over an old ice drivetrain. But when you swap out the entire type of drivetrain you lose the core of what the car originally was, flaws and all. This is not to mention the myth that battery electric cars are environmentally sound. To me, doing a swap like this is a really cool way of making a new kind of car that previously didn't exist, essentially a restmod. But this isn't preservation; it's reinvention. To restorers: if you can, please keep these endangered dinosaurs as they were as much as possible.

    • @Salutimondo
      @Salutimondo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Happy for you to spend your own money restoring vehicles as you wish but other people should spend their own money in the way that they want to spend it. If vehicles are being rescued from breaker yards and not rusting away to oblivion then the conversion gives them another life regardless of whether it's different to what they had before.

    I'm not a fan of Rolls Royce, although the old school Aston Martin's and Jaguars in general are quite easy on the eyes. The trend of converting older cars to electric technology is quite exciting as it would be nice to apply it to a rough. say a series 62 convertible Cadillac, given the workable space. I hope the price of the technology drops to the point that a regular person can order a kit, be it high or low output and create their own custom electric automobile in their own garage, regardless of make or model.

    A source for those Rolls-Royce Bentley cars is Rome Georgia in the United States where they're being scrapped because they can't find people qualified to work on them anymore and the repair costs are so exorbitant that cars are loaded up and hauled to the salvage yard in Britain they call them breaker yards. So it looks like they're going to go get crew built cars from the breaker yards put an electric running gear in them and charge the customer a million dollars. Well I bet the price of breaker bits is going to go through the ceiling.

      It’s a sixty year old car. Enjoining it as it is would involve parking it in a garage and talking it out on a rally once in a while . So another car is going to have to be bought to do actual daily driving. So from an environmental standpoint you have just consumed the entire resources of a second car .
