    nice one! thanks for the info.. I wonder if youd be able to recommend a good spark plug to use on winter? I ve got a 1957 Lambretta LD.

    Hi Steve, good info but I have to run a resistor spark plug because of my SIP speedo. Thought you might of mentioned something about that.

      Resistors where introduced to stop interference in transistor radios ? Sip Speedo is not using transistor? So I'm not using resistor plug only a 5k cap and my sip Speedo is fine .....

      @@TheSteelweasel I found this really interesting, mostly because I dont know anything about this. Most people in my area (Oslo, Norway) had trouble getting the SIP speedo to work using normal spark plugs. After alot of silence and grief SIP finally came back and said to use R-plugs (and as I understand after watching this video an R-plug has a resistor). So to make this crystal clear; you change the spark plug cap, not the plug? To a TB05 NKG (for example), and you still get the SIP digital speedo to not act like its on acid?
      I enjoy watching your channel, and hope you continue to upload more interesting stuff.

      @@TheSteelweasel I had exactly the same issue with my SIP speedo and followed theit advice to use an R type (I prefer Denso btw) and the speedo worked fine after that. I do use copper leads and the red rubber NGK cap though. SIP havent said but I wonder if the interferance issue only happens if using the magnetic pick up sensor on the wheel rather than the cable operated one. I'm using the magnetic one.
      Also worth noting that the NGK plugs bought on ebay are sometimed knock offs which fail very quickly, thats why I switched to Denso

    Most folks don't pay enough attention to correct spark plug for a particular application.

    Great video steve as all ways , any thoughts on this spark plug cap it's a ,PRO-5U ,5k ohms champion, will be running it on a 175 engine, cheers

    And, If you use an R together with a SIP digital speedo they show all sorts of readings

      TheSteelweasel what about the sip inline filter they sell for interference ? It’s a tad pricey though and thought about getting one myself but I think Mr Tambs( Scootronic) might come up with a cheaper alternative

      @@exsoulagent you only need a 5k spark plug cap and it works fine , i have the sip speedo on my bike with non resistor plug and a 5 k cap its fine bro.

    Have you ever tried the iridium tipped direct replacements spark plugs?

    • @TheSteelweasel
      @TheSteelweasel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes more expensive but good in a fuel injection motor but on old two strokes the standard plugs seem to keep cleaner and last longer . All the fancy plugs I've tried just foul up and fail ? And most scooterist run rich cos they're scared of seizing the motor .

      @@TheSteelweasel Hi thanks for the reply, I've been running one in my SX with a Mugello 225 kit for about 2 yrs and it seems to keep clean enough. Oil is fully synthetic at 3% with super unleaded. It might be pure bias but it seems to start a lot easier and "pull" cleaner/better? Interesting stuff, didn't know about the resistor.

    Going to be fitting a SIP speedo and they say you need to fit a resistor plug . What plug do you think I need ? Engine is a Quattrini 210 built for 2 up and for rallying.

    • @TheSteelweasel
      @TheSteelweasel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Speak to them but mine is working with a non resistor plug but I have a 5k suppressor cap . Your plug depends on your engine temperature if you are running in cool climate and your exhaust gas temp is below 700c then a B8ES is ok , if you are running in summer or hot climate and have exhaust gas temp up to 750c then a B9ES .
