She definitely had Arabian in her! the positioning of her tail, her build, and the shape of her face are characteristics of Arabian but you can also see a lot of quarter horse in her too. She is a very beautiful horse!

Great job Shelby! Roulette is an amazing & super smart horse. I attribute her smart factor to her Arabian blood. Kind of sad your brother couldn't buy her, but glad she's at a good home.
My horse Benny came from a kill auction. He was a dapple grey Arabian. My aunt and Grandpa got him for showing in 4-H I showed him when I got older and won reserve high point my first year. He was so smart and he loved to show. He loved riding on the road too because he could hear his own hooves and start prancing every time. He was the best friend I ever had really. R.i.p Benny I miss you so much
Wow Shelby! I am 57 and new to the horse world. My husband had a horse in college but we raised 5 kids in So Cal and now have bought a 45 acre farm in Bow Washington. Your OTTB videos inspired my husband so, that we bought a decorated grandson of a Seattle Slew for him (he needed a tall horse) and a very well trained tri color paint for me. My horse, Gus has been trained in dressage, cross country and jumping.. my husband’s horse, Vic is a lovey doves 17 hand racer that knows how to go fast and turn left. Your videos have encouraged us to be quite involved with our boys, we are lucky enough for them to have their barn and pasture here in our yard. This story of Roulette was wonderful. When I’m experienced enough I really do one day wanna save a horse from slaughter💕 or an equine rescue.. but I still have a lot to learn 💕 thank you for sharing her story.. I wish all horses could be saved..

My one boy was rescued from auction where only the meat buyers were bidding. He looked horrible, was skin and bone and not halter broke. He's turning into an amazing horse and I'm taking him to his first show this weekend!

Unfortunately, while a lot of them would love to be sober, addiction is a mental illness and is not solved just by a mere change in mindset. Like depression and anxiety, no one chooses to be an addict in the sense where they lose control of their life to drug addiction.
I've never had a horse, but I don't understand how people can just put them up for Auction like that. I feel like there is a very high chance they are not going to go to the beautiful home they deserve! Thank you for rescuing Simon and Roulette!
Glad she's so happy in her new home! Just got my first pony in January from a kill pen. We have no history for him or than he was a team roper and is 18 years old. He has such an amazing, calm temperament and I can't imagine how he ended up there.
She's so cute! It makes me super sad to think that she (and other horses) could have been killed for no actual reason. It's amazing to see that change. It's good to know she went to a loving home.💙

So many equestrians rush the, "hurry up and get into the farm's routine" with horses off-the-track, importing from another country or, in this case, from an psychologically unstable situation. I don't know if it's for the client's ego or the trainer's ego, but rushing a horse's mental stability and confidence is 100% wrong. Thank you for being so smart and experienced enough to give her let-down time to be a horse, gain confidence, and trust you as her guardian. Kudos, Shelby!
I instantly fell in love with Rou when I saw her for the first time in your videos. And then she turned out to be my dream horse - from looks, frame and personality. Unfortunately i have to wait to finish uni first before I can buy my own horses. I wish I could have bought her, but I know she went to a good home anyway!

I volunteer at a Summer Camp as a horse handler and I can tell you a story about one of our horses (not really a STORY but 🤷🏼♀️). Her name is Apache and she’s a 3 year old Paint Quarter Horse. She is the calmest horse we have on property and has only ever acted up once. We put our extremely new children on her and she doesn’t bat a eyelash. Her only flaw is with the farrier. Love that horse!
Thank you Shelby, and all others who rescue these horses from an early unnecessary death. When they are young and healthy they don’t deserve to have their lives so casually discarded. I only wish I had horse property and could do the same. Happily donating funds!

Roulette reminds me so much of my baby girl Willow who passed away a few years ago. 😭 She was also a rescue I got as a two year old, and when we brought her home, you couldn’t touch past her shoulders without her freaking out. But after a few weeks she had so much trust and loved people, and was an absolute dream to train once she was ready. She was bay, too, and had a star and snip. Between those similarities and your brother’s comment I’m feeling all sorts of feels. 😭🙌🏻 Such a beautiful baby, I’m so glad she went to a good home. ❤️

I just wanted to say that you have inspired me to keep working with the mare i'm training, and not just in this video but Simon's Videos and Milo's especially. Milo reminds me of the mare i'm training a lot, there both sweet and loving horses but super playful ( which as you know can be dangerous at times ). You have helped me strive to make my horse into one that is gentle and kind. Thank you so much!
Don't sell yourself short girl she may have been a very well tempered horse and smart but you brought her along at a good even Pace I've noticed that about you you're not too slow not too fast you're steady consistent that's what it takes glad she got a good home and just think they were going to make meat out of her oh lordy 😎👍🐝
