    Beautiful painting! One of my favorites :) I really recommend that you do more of these complex paintings, they're a joy to watch! Also, I like how the figure is moving, there's life meaning from it, it's quite nice :) great job keep it up!

      +Jeremy Toppings thanks Jeremy. I'll try and mix the compositions up a little more as a lot of them are a bit samey.

    Nice background of small mountains(?) and trees as well as the bridge in front. Very interesting demo. of rocks on bridge. Nice view through the arc of bridge. This land on the left hand side add beauty with its variety of pastel colors as well as the tiny trees on both sides with their beautiful leaves. This blue water is lovely and adds movement as well as some big rocks on the right hand side. I thank you Steven for this lovely painting and also for the little figure always very interesting in all the paintings.

    Nice one, Steve. I particularly like the left bank, and the way the water blended after re-wetting. Cheers.

    good morning, Steven! I bought a book on drawing and yesterday the whole evening trying to draw a Scottish bridge correctly, it did not work very well, and now I can see how it looks inspiring in life, because of your miraculous landscape

    Beautiful. It's amazing what you can do with that hake brush! I'm going to try this one, although I don't expect it to look like yours LOL.

    Great. Thought you would switch to the 3/4" for the bridge, haven't seen you use it for a while. Hake control and liked the subject as someone else said.

    Another beautiful painting. You don't seem to dip your brush in the water jar very often when you change colors. How do you keep your colors from looking muddy on the paper? Do you just wipe the brush clean in between colors? You work so quickly! Thank you, your tips are very helpful!

    • @StevenCronin
      @StevenCronin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Christina Alegria I clean the brush when it starts to get muddy or if I want a lighter colour. I don't clean the brush until I have to. I think people sometimes clean their brush more than they need to. Thanks for watching Christina.

    Just. watched the. water. colour of the bridge ihave only been painting for about 3 months now and have to admit that i am having problems trying to get a. chisseled. edge do trim the brush as the one i have is more like a painter and decorators. brush. Can i use another brush like a. size. 6 round l would grateful for any help you could pass my way. thank you. kevin.

      +Kevin Adam the right brush is vital and I strongly recommend buying a Ron Ranson hake. I always use the large 45mm. Search on ebay and you'll find one. Best of luck Kevin and happy painting!

    I realize this is an old video, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and tried to follow along as best I could, however, I was working on a smaller piece of paper and ended up having to switch to a large round. It came out decent but I had trouble with the rocks along the stream edge. Is there any way you could do a video on your tools (other than the hake) and paint set up? Or do you have one on here and I missed it? I just subscribed so I look forward to perusing your chanel and learning more from you. 🙄

      +long yarn there's an old video on here called introduction to my painting materials. If you take a look at this one it lists all the materials I use as I go through them one by one. Hope this helps. Very best of luck and happy painting

    Steve, I love your work!! I am getting ready to order the Ron Hanson large hake brush and wanted to ask you if I need to order an additional size while I am at it? Also, what kind of watercolors do you recommend? Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put into these videos. Hugely helpful and inspiring!

    • @StevenCronin
      @StevenCronin  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Diane LoDico the only size I generally use is the large (45mm) but then without you ever trying the other sizes you'll never know which suits you best! It really depends on what size paper you use. It's generally best to use the largest brush you feel comfortable with. Best of luck and happy painting!

      +Diane LoDico As for watercolour paint, I always use tubes of cotman watercolours.

      Thanks for your constructive criticism Cheryl. I guess they're not all gold! I've never really felt comfortable with man-made objects. Much prefer to paint all nature.
