Great to be out in the woods and cutting up trees with the vintage saws. Mrs. O still has some recovery time to deal with. My neighbor has been doing the filming for us, which has been nice.
For the farm and home, it is tough to beat a Mac 610. My 610's and 650 are my favorite all around saws. They do about 75% of the work on the homestead.
I just got a free 610 about a month ago. It was for sale nearby for several months as a non runner for $40 . They finally decided no one would buy it and put it up for free. It just needed new gas and a little carb fiddling and it runs great.
I use an axe to pick up rounds. Just sink them into the round and pick the round up. I use my 50+ year old 4# True Temper Dayton pattern to split wood. It has split thousands of rounds of live oak. It only has a 31.5” fawn’s foot handle on it.
The Cheeseymac looked like it eat it up !! picaroon , next best thing to pockets on a shirt !! i use one often , saves my back !! thought i was subscribed , but wasnt , am now though !! Thank Ya Sir !! love the Monkey Wards mower!!
Great to see you out again. How many acres do you get to play on with your saws? Looking forward to another Christmas episode this year hopefully if you both are up to it!!
Happ to be making videos again, especially out in the woods using the vintage chainsaws. We have about 10 acres to play on. We are working on a new layout for the trains and should have it operational for our Christmas video. We should be back to normal operations by the end of October.
Love the tractor. I use a early 60 s Cub lo boy for mine. I got that mac pro 1010s running great. Gas line, gas tank gasket (just because) an a carb kit. I'm glad you keep vintage. Only way to go , or are we lost in time or Obsolete?
My Garden Mark little tractor is ideal for getting in small areas. I have a IH cub too, but it is too big for confined areas like I was in cutting. I like the Mac 10-10's and have several of them, great ol saw. Running vintage stuff is best for me !
@@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea9156 Well we have a trail over 22 acres. I did use a Gravley garden tractor ( loved it). An a Sears 12 something from 60s , still have that. Your right vintage was made with pride an to last.
The ol Cheesey Mac always smokes a bunch when it sits for an extended time. It clears up pretty quickly though. My other Mac 610's don't smoke nearly as much when they have been sitting for a while. Not sure why the Monkey Wards saw does.
@@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea9156 I bet it needs the rubber o-rings or aluminum flat washers and gas and oil resistant RTV sealer replaced inside the bar oil tank. It's common on the 10 series saws anyway.
Thanks for the tips. I have never worked on the oiling system on this saw. I have owned the saw for 30 plus years and has given excellent service. The bugs always buzz off whenever I use it !
I suspect the governor check ball gets sticky when sitting for a while. The saw runs and idles great and starts very easy also, so I don't think I have an air leak. I will have to give the saw a lookover soon to see if I can determine the problem.
Stop whinning about an 034. I have an MS360 and it is the 034’s big brother. I occasional pull it over without pushing in the deco valve and it does not beat me to death when I do. If it is beating you to death then there is something wrong with the carb or it is misadjusted. If my 360 does not roll over by the sixth pull, something is wrong with it. Pull your 034 out slow three times in full choke and then grip and rip. It should roll over. Then, push it up to warm start and grip and rip, again. Do not pull it again after it rolls over in full choke. Stihl saws are easy to flood and this is a common reason they are sometimes hard to start. If I think a saw is flooded, I blip the throttle to the run position and grip and rip until something happens. If I get any response from the saw I push it back down to the warm start position and grip and rip until it starts, usually the next pull.
I can't stop whining about my 034 because it is an inferior saw in many ways. It is cheaply built. It doesn't have any torque, so it is useless for heavy duty cutting. Where it excells though is for branching and light duty firewood cutting with a short bar, 20" or less. That is where the hp and high chain speed saves the day. It is also easy to work on. I have tried many different ways of starting the saw to see if I can make it easier to start with no luck. I have had many comments about the starting problem, and almost all owners have the same problem. I have never flooded it. It is easy to take the air filter cover and filter off, give it a prime, and it starts on the first pull. I have been using the mylar flap valves in the carbs because they last longer, but I have noticed that the saws that have them are harder to start when they have set for a while. I guess I am spoiled as my McCulloch's always start easily, even after extended setting, and run fine on the old fuel in them.
Them Mac's are hard to beat. I like that tractor that you pulled up on. It's awesome
My Mac's and garden tractor have one thing in common. They always run !
@@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea9156 right and really great running
Vintage is best !
@@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea9156 I do agree
I remember as a kid seeing McCollough commercials with those beavers... no wonder they used beavers, that saw went to town on those blown down trees.
My old Mac's do a great job of cutting. They are fast cutters, last forever, are easy to maintain and require very few repairs.
Good to see u out again, glad everything is good again!

THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
Thanks for watching
had two of them some years ago, were very rare in germany
Good to see you on the TH-cam!
It is nice to be doing videos again. Thanks for watching.
Great video Mr Obsolete 👍. My auction find 610 is my favorite saw. It starts up and runs great.

Nice tractor. I bet you have more than a couple of those!
I have several garden tractors, but the MW is my main tractor. That tractor was the best $75 I have ever spent on old equipment !

Good memory, I own and run an MT 19 Fairmont.
Great mosquito control
