The manual diff lock was only for the 1st generation manual transmission 5-speed RAV4 models with the full time 4WD system, produced until 2000. The 2001 model 5-speed has the same "on demand" AWD system as all automatic-transmission versions of the RAV4.
Which road is this JT? I’m considering using my 2009 RAV4 (optional AWD) to get to the Ocean Beach camping area. Entering the beach from the 8th Ave car park, North St, Woorim, at the south end of the island. Would this be sensible/achievable with the car loaded with camping gear do you think?
Hey, sorry for the late reply. This was on the Ocean Beach Access Track off north street. if you have a way to lock it into 4x4 mode, i wouldn't see why it couldn't go, I've seen captivas up at Rainbow so it can defiantly do it. only issue would probably be ground clearance . Just make sure to go with another 4x4, and lower the tyre pressure and you should be sweet
@@JTGelsoftthinking of doin the same with our old rav 4, might research some lift kits if their available, and invest in some good recovery points, theres always someone wanting to recover you, as long as you’ve somewhere good to hook onto
they go fine in the sand. i wouldn't do anything more than simple beach driving, but the key is running the correct tyre pressure. and you shouldn't need low range on sand, just need good throttle control
good to see "the boys" having a day out beach driving.
Any suggestions if I should take my Kia Sorento on Bribie, it has a ground clearance of 18.4cm?
Sweet drive..
What year model rav is it ? Does it have a manual centre diff lock ?
This was a 2001 RAV4 cruiser. no, it didn't have a manual centre diff lock.
Thanks so much ✌️

Cool video, I'm impressed with the little Rav4. What is the ticking noise, did you have your indicator on?
Thankyou! That ticking noise was my Cassette playing having a bad day
is this the 40psi club?
Hey mate im looking at a 2000 rav for $2500.
How do these go in dry, boggy, sand dunes?
Im thinking without low range maybe it sux???

Ahh yeh cheers.
Charging up a dune that the patrols and cruisers make it up, not a problem?
i don't know how one would go on the dunes(mine got written off before i could take it anywhere else) but the only issue would be ground clearance
hi there,i got a 2000 rav, mine punches way above its weight.do the lancelin dunes and up beaches often.just gotta use a bit of common sence aye..
10:10 wtf no the 30 is the speed limit because it's classed as a road
