When her father died in February 1952, Elizabeth-then 25 years old-became queen of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon (known today as Sri Lanka), as well as Head of the Commonwealth. Elizabeth reigned as a constitutional monarch through major political changes such as the Troubles in Northern Ireland, devolution in the United Kingdom, the decolonisation of Africa, and the United Kingdom's accession to the European Communities and withdrawal from the European Union. The number of her realms varied over time as territories gained independence and some realms became republics. Her many historic visits and meetings include state visits to China in 1986, Russia in 1994, and the Republic of Ireland in 2011, and meetings with five popes.
Significant events include Elizabeth's coronation in 1953 and the celebrations of her Silver, Golden, Diamond, and Platinum jubilees in 1977, 2002, 2012, and 2022, respectively. Elizabeth was the longest-lived British monarch and the second-longest reigning sovereign in world history, behind only Louis XIV of France. She faced occasional republican sentiment and media criticism of her family, particularly after the breakdowns of her children's marriages, her annus horribilis in 1992, and the death of her former daughter-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1997. However, support for the monarchy in the United Kingdom remained consistently high, as did her personal popularity. Elizabeth died aged 96 at Balmoral Castle, Aberdeenshire in 2022, and was succeeded by her eldest son, Charles III.
From Elizabeth's birth onwards, the British Empire continued its transformation into the Commonwealth of Nations.[77] By the time of her accession in 1952, her role as head of multiple independent states was already established.[78] In 1953, Elizabeth and her husband embarked on a seven-month round-the-world tour, visiting 13 countries and covering more than 40,000 miles (64,000 kilometres) by land, sea and air.[79] She became the first reigning monarch of Australia and New Zealand to visit those nations.[80] During the tour, crowds were immense; three-quarters of the population of Australia were estimated to have seen her.[81] Throughout her reign, Elizabeth made hundreds of state visits to other countries and tours of the Commonwealth; she was the most widely travelled head of state.[82]
In 1956, the British and French prime ministers, Sir Anthony Eden and Guy Mollet, discussed the possibility of France joining the Commonwealth.

The royal malay regiment were on public duty in london on invitation I believed from the queen. We were among the 4th commonwealth country, if Im not mistaken, invited to do public duty. The soldiers were hand picked and trained by british instructors as the command used were in english.

Have seen a lot of Commonwealth nations do this and some who you may expect to be good (Australia, Canada) were nothing like as good as these Malay Regiment lads; well done!
Agreed...I have to say the canadians although wearing similar uniform to the guards, just are not as smart....that said, they are great soldiers!

You should try seeing how malaysian students march. Even kids and teens, they march so beautifully. You can try typing malaysian school march.its so cool. I am par of it too
H2X2E2532 their drill was certainly not as sharp as the RMR. More a shuffle like the Americans unfortunately and we’re speaking about their drill not the standard of their band which competent could do with blowing their instruments better but what a stirring march they played.
This was beautiful...some of THE best soldiers in the world. Respect from the UK.
Welsh Guards...you tell by the button spacing, 2 rows of 5 buttons. Each guards regiment spaces their buttons in order of seniority, so the Grenadiers have buttons equally spaced, Coldstream Guards in pairs, Scots Guards 3s and Irish 4s....worth watching out for!

Tribute to the most Senior unit in the Malaysian Armed Forces, The 1st Royal Malay Regiment. Established 23rd November 1932 until present. Proud of them :)
aiman272 Sarawak Rangers existed way before that.They served for the British way longer and should've received better credits.
Existed early doesn't mean they are most senior in seniority. The Royal Malay Regiment (Infantry) is not a para-military forces or reserved unit and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) as the most senior Regiment/unit. They were full-time soldiers since their existence and the base model for the current MAF. Sarawak Rangers was formed as a para-military unit to help defend Kuching and were disbanded in 1932 as part of Sarawak Constabulary. After the World War 2 it was reformed again as The Sarawak Rangers and absorbed into the MAF through the formation of Malaysia as The Ranger Regiment. The Ranger Regiment is the 2nd most senior in seniority in the MAF even their formation is later then The Royal Amoured Corps (1952). On recognition, Malaysian Monarchy even honoured The Ranger Regiment as The Royal Ranger Regiment. They do not only serve in Malaysian theater and the confrontation with Indonesia but also in the United Nations (UN) Mission. The 1st Royal Ranger Regiment were sent to Kampuchea as Malaysian Battalion 2 (MALBATT 2) from 14th March 1993 to 4th July 1994. Having performed in UN missions is the pinnacle of recognition to any Military units in the world.

Kalau kalian perasan baju istiadat RAMD, warna, kelengkapan yang ada di pakaian, kawad dan lagu yang dimainkan masuk atau sesuai dengan senibina, suasana, background dan pakaian istiadat British (merah dan putih) di situ. Sebab tu aa ianya nampak sangat memukau. Baju istiadat (one dress) dengan sampin dan songkok. NAMPAK sopan, merendah diri, adat, perkasa, dan sesuai walau di pakai di negara barat apatah di negara china ataupun arab mana2 lah. Pakaian sopan itulah cara berpakaian yang sangat sesuai bila bertandang ke tempat orang. Bayanglah kalau kawad petern baru dipadankan dengan pakaian ini. Sangat tak sesuai langsung dengan indentiti budaya malaysia atau melayu yang sangat suka merendah diri. Pakaian itu meskipun sopan dan simple namun tetap memukau.
Pakaian istiadat rejimen askar melayu di reka oleh mantan pegawai memerintah rejimen yg pertama mej bruce dan ejuten pertama pd tahun 1933. Ianya menggunakan pakaian baju melayu sebagai contoh. Sejak itu semua anggota rejimen bila cuti balik kampong mesti pakai pakaian mufti dan kesegakan askar2 tsb telah menarik ramai anak2 melayu sertai rejimen askar melayu ketika itu.

This is great that commonwealth regions can take part in this historic parade.
British army teach our army for the first time in 1941 before japanese troops atack malaya (now malaysia). This batalion our first army before WW2 and im very proud of them. Lieutenant Adnan Saidii and his batalion who defending Singapore (that time singapore is part of malaya) until his last breath with no ammunition and just use his weapons with bayonet. Salute 1st Royal Malay Regiment.

It really is interesting to see truly. 2 Household division foot guards from different countries marching in the same way. Especially when Malaysia has a good royal history with the UK.
Next thing I want to see is the Royal Malay Regiment and Singapore Military Police Guard change the guard. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if Singapore can do it in Buckingham Palace.
malaysia was invited because a minister (or general of im not mistaken) from the UK was interested towards the 1RAMD when they became the honor guard during his visit. Singapore also have the chance to be the foot guard at london as they are also a member of the commonwealth and share the same marching style. Its just a matter of when.

Singapore military tradition despite being a former colony of Britain and using malay/english comands is more influence by Taiwanese/us military traditions then british traditions. Singapore also has a complex regarding its sovereignty, probably due it's size and never knowingly allow it's military to be guards to another country's royalty.

We are trained to march even when we are in school. For st John, pandu puteri, pengakap, Bomba dan penyelamat, bulan sabit merah and GB, BB. It is our club activities. We have 3: sports, academics and uniform. Each category we have to choose one. One for sports, one for aca, and one for uni. I choose these 3 as my club: the badminton club, chinese literature club and GB(girls bridgade). On sports day, theyre is the opening ceremony where you can see students march. And it is a competition to know which club marches the best. My sports day ended yesterday. We saw the BDSM marching members cry even when they got 2nd place, they are sad they did not get 1st or something. I don't know. Mine got 4th which good enough. We can never beat the three: pengakap, St John and bulan sabit merah...
Sejak kite merdeka, setiap operasi ATM berjalan dgn lancar walaupun ade yg gugur...drpda tewaskan komunis sampai pengganas sulu..
