- This video walks through 2 methods for stopping your plow from falling off your ATV.
1) Keep the winch cable tight (This is NOT a fix - just something I did at first before finding the fix)
2) Adjust the locking mechanism. 5:19 - • How to fix Polaris Gla... (actual fix)
From the manual:
The red locking handle is adjustable to allow the lock mechanism to be adjusted to compensate for wear over time. To adjust the locking mechanism, loosen the lock nut H on the threaded shaft where it contacts the red handle as shown. Rotate the handle until proper adjustment is made, then retighten the lock nut H. The recommended adjustment setting is to adjust the locking mechanism so that it completely latches but does not have any free play in it then turn the red handle back (counterclockwise)1 full turn to give it approximately 1mm ( .040”) of free play between the bracket K and stop collar J seen below. It is recommended you perform this adjustment every 3 months of use.

My video on this is a good fix, for now. I've used my fix for 2 years and my plow hasn't come off once since.
Great job explaining this. You're exactly right and testing the hooks proves it. Thanks so much for doing the vid. Like some of the others, I had the plow frame disconnect at very bad times. It didn't make sense because I could see the hooks up in the frame. This was a huge help.
Thats great! I am glad this video is still helping people - and most importantly, helping people stay safe. I am putting my plow on this evening for the first accumulation this year. Since making this video, I have not had the plow fall off 1 time. Only other thing to note is the occasional shear pin breaking. If you haven't had that break on you yet, it is 2 sided. Just remove the springs, flip it over and re-connect the springs using pliers.
Thank you for posting this, a little shaky but a great fix video, I thought it was just the way it was. I tried back blading a couple of times and it would disconnect. I'm looking forward to fixing this now. Now that I have had a whole winter to plow, it has not disconnect once. I can back blade as much as I want. Thank you so much.

Thank you for posting this video. I have the same plow and that mount fell off 3 times. The 3rd time snapped my winch cable and thankfully no damage to the plow of my atv. Once I adjusted the stop nut on mine the hooks don't move at all now. I feel pretty confident this will take care of the problem. Broken winch cable ain't no problem to fix. Excellent video!

My plow fell off while riding about 15mph through the yard when I bottomed out on a rock that hit the plow frame. The plow went forward and I went over the bars and ended up on my back next to the plow with the atv on its side. I was inches from breaking my back and who knows what else. I always thought it was disconnecting when the plow would somehow hit the release handle when plowing up a snow bank or from hitting the rock, but this is exactly what was happening. Thank you for posting.
I just took delivery of a 450 with this plow system. One thing I can tell you it is insanely better than the 19 year old Moose plow system I was using! I will go out tomorrow and check this out for sure. Thanks for the video!
Since making this video, I have only had it fall off 1 time - and that is because the handle got bumped up and into the unlocked position.
It's not frequent enough for me to do anything about, but if you have issues with that I have seen people putting something through the hole above the handle to prevent it from being pushed up.
I have a 2017 450 HO EPS with this plow, so mechanically it's mounted the same way as on your 570. The forked yoke at the end of the red rod was also mis-adjusted on mine, initially. Resultingly, the whole frame & plow fell off more than a few times.
It's more than just annoying, too. Under the right (wrong?) circumstances (like out near a road, in the dark of night) losing your plow suddenly can become a seriously dangerous situation. And, you could potentially drive right over your frame, possibly smashing up your gear, before you even realize it's off. I almost did that, twice.
Luckily, I discovered the same fix, after half of the first winter I owned it. So far, so good. It's now two winters later, and it has not dropped off since.
It's also a good idea to keep everything well greased at that back end, around the frame hooks and all pivoting points thereabouts. That should help the locking/unlocking mechanism operate smoothly, and hopefully stave off rust as long as possible, too.

It's been working great ever since and I have done *allot* of plowing this year. We've got about 2' on the ground and I've been keeping the driveway and some trails through the woods cleared... Best of luck!

Wow. Just looked at mine and it was very loose. Probably saved me a lot of frustration seeing how I haven’t used the plow yet.
Thanks for posting this fix!!! My plow has been falling off more often now! Your first option wont work for me as I have lots of uneven/dips in the road which I need the plow to be able to follow the contour of the road, the winch cable has to be loose for that to happen. The adjustment you demonstrated looks like the perfect fix I need, thank you so much!!! :)

I adjusted mine and have not had snow to try it. In reading the comments below I see that the red handle can be pushed up by chunks of snow or ice. I came up with a simple solution of putting a boat plug in the hole where the rollers and red rod comes through so the red handle can't be pushed up. The plug goes above the red rod when in the locked position.. Quick latch boat plug for easy install and fits perfect. Just remember to oil it so it doesnt freeze up.

This fix is explained in the plowing set manual that comes with the plowing set.
Mine was installed at the dealer, and I never saw the paperwork... figured this was done right... wrong!
@@skg-vids Same here... I called the dealer and they had no advice for me. I downloaded a manual but didn't see the fix - probably over looked it if I even had the right one.

Thanks for posting this video. I’ve also been dealing with this for a couple years now. Blade fell off and I ran right over it resulting in damage to my atv. I feel a lot better plowing the yard now with this simple yet important fix!

After adjusting the bolt on the handle, the plow did not fall off for the rest of the season.
My plow frame did get a little bent from rolling over it, and I was going to try to get it replaced... But it's not bad enough for me to waste the time.
I really think it's a safety issue - if you roll over it far enough and it locks your wheels up and throws you off, that's not good...
The installation instructions should be updated to mention this adjustment and the installers that we pay to install these should do the adjustment before delivering the machine.
I see you also ran over your plow, and I agree this is a serious safety issue Polaris does not agree. And they won't until they get sued.

Huh, me too. But the front latch poked right through my oil pan (where the access is to change oil) all the oil drained while plowing and my wheeler doesn't even turn over... I'm hoping it's a low oil safety, but first fixing the hole to see

Do you know how to disengage the shear pin if it is stuck? We are having an issue changing the direction of the plow. It won’t move. We tried the normal way and tried to bang up the shear pin but it seems stuck partially in the locked position. Thank you for your video. It’s helped a lot as we were having the same issue. Hopefully it works for us too!
I did the fix and it hooks won't move now and it doesn't fall off but the red handle won't pull out to lock in the down position. Is it to tight or is there another reason why the handle won't lock.?
To lock, you actually need to push the red handle in, then down.
If you can't push it down when pushed in, then you may have backed it out too far.
I'd recommend doing the fix with the handle in the locked position. That way it'll be easier to get the rod to the correct length.
Would you recommend the polaris Plow? or get a KFI plow and save $$$ , great video!
I would get a moose plow. I have the Polaris plow and this video doesn't really fix the problem. In going to put my fix in the general comments section
I used a moose plow on my old machine and there was never an issue,, for 17 years,, plowing 6-10 driveways,, 100 foot long
if your only plowing your paved driveway may be ok, but if you have dirt driveway or road stay away from this plow. it may look beefy but total crap. I plow a dirt road and after one and a half seasons both square tubes broke in half on the plow mount section. Not to mention the shear pins on the plow angle arm, really shear pins on a plow??? they shear on every little bump stupid design, I plowed with the Glacier 1 system on my 450 for 13 years before it started to fall apart, this Glacier Pro one lasted less than two seasons and the mount and I couldn't weld it because was mangled and torn so bad. inferior design for any kind of hard plowing. just my two sense.
Would you buy it again? If price wasn’t a concern would you buy the boss ATV plow?
At this time, now that I have it working correctly, I would buy it again. I purchased this because it was easy to use and ready to deliver. As long as its installed correctly, its a decent plow.
Are you talking about the Boss V Plow? If so, I would defiantly get that over this. I have 0 experience with plowing... Last winter I saw a V Plow in action at a friends house for the first time. Its a totally different ball game using a V plow - way more versatile.
I cant speak for the mounting on it since I have no idea how it mounts. I can have the Glacier Pro off and back on in less than a minute.

I think it may be a safety feature in case you hit something solid to save the plow or the machine. Just guessing.
Nope. The safety features are the sheer pin and the springs. This is just a poorly documented handle adjustment.
I fixed my plow just as you did on this video. In the past my plow did pop out every once in a while and was annoying especially trying to attach it to my sportsman when it is cold and dealing with snow. Thanks for the tip.
Nice. I just got a plow just like this one, same wheeler. Mine wasn't adjusted right and it fell off my first time using it. Then my wheeler quit working all together. One of the front lock popped through where the oil pan bolt is and cracked right through the pan. Of all the fluke things... Guess I'm talking to polaris tomorrow...
This is not the fix. It does hold the system together a little better. This adjustment should have been made by the dealers installer
This plow issue is going to get Polaris sued one day soon I hope, because Polaris will absolutely not admit there's a problem.
I know of a guy who's tire popped when he ran over his plow.
I ran over my brand new plow, installed by the dealer, and bent it.
Polaris basically said" tough shit".
The problem is, when I push snow up a bank, which I do frequently, the red lever gets released by the frozen snow bank. But know about the issue, I backed up and when I drive forward I ran over my plow
I've spent a lot of time trying to come up with a fix and I have several good ideas for re-engineering the locking system, but again, Polaris won't hear it because that would be admitting there's a problem .
So,,, I fashioned a piece of wood to work as a wedge, jammed in over that rod. The wedge is tethered so I won't lose it when I pull it out or if it falls out.
So far this winter having plowed a total of 6 driveways- 8 times, or 48 total plowings, the wedge works.
I also plow my entire back yard because I have 4 dogs pooping back there. And much of my neighbors back yard for her dogs .
I don't see a way to add a picture here so I will put a short video on my TH-cam page showing the wedge I made .

As an added precaution this season, I have done something similar by cable-tying down the "hooked" handle end of the red rod. It's not perfect but it will keep a light blow from deep snow from kicking the rod loose. I am gonna work on a better fix once it gets warm again.
@@floobertuber the real problem is lack of r&d at Polaris, or even worse, they refuse to hear it because hearing it, admitting it might open them up to a recall.
When someone gets seriously hurt and it makes the news, I'll show these posts to the media, and Polaris will wish they listened
Instead of a wedge try a boat plug above the rod when locked in the down position. Fits perfect and easy on/off.

Sad that we had to come up with ideas to make the Polaris plow work.

Got my fridge fixed that way.
Polaris could step to the plate and resolve this issue, unless the plow kills someone and bankrupts Polaris.
I told them, if that happens, I go public with my asking them to fix it.
