i thought the same until i got nothing but trouble with a mazda 6 2.2 diesel skyactiv from a dealer - which broke my heart!cannot wait to offload and its well known as trouble(so i hear from every dealer i go to when trying to trade it in)
Unless there is proof of timing belt change or advisory rectifications I demand the garage cost to have work done is deducted from price, I'll then buy said parts and do the work myself (get an even cheaper car). Always wear old clothes, bring some tools and a torch and go to town looking for faults!
Only think I'd add is looking for visual damage, kerbed wheels, dents, any misaligned panels and sign of unrecorded damage. Also test electrical items too like speakers, lights etc etc
At 65 never bought a car from a garage. Never had a bad car. Generally keep cars 6-10 yrs. do all my own diy. In future will be keeping my vehicle sub 2016 due to all the sensors. Currently running 2007 berlingo petrol 17 yrs old. Runs perfectly, rust minimal underneath, zero underneath. Parts readily available. Changed a front wing for £25 after the binmen reversed into it and insurance wanted to write it off. Great advice re the bank especially if travelling a distance and get there and the bank fraud dept block the fee. Maybe I have been lucky with my cars. In the 60s my dad owned a garage and at 60 k the british leyland cars engines were done😂. Rebuilt easily and for not a lot. Now cars will do very big mileages. My VW T4 was sold at 330k and was still running. All 5 of my family cars have over 100k on. All maintained by me and drive perfectly. Mix of brands Citroen, Peugeot, Toyota, Hyundai, Suzuki. Love the channel. My one daughter is in Oz and has bought a car out there, I sent her a check list to do when buying, wish this was out then😂
Top advice! Do you know where we can get information about costs of service, maintenance and parts for used cars? I'm asking because lurking around old forums where posts are older than a car or going to local garage where answer is always "please bring car here and we will see" is not a good option
It's to much at the moment! They are going to Auction and getting the cars a Grand under value, and then selling them for 2 grand over value! I understand they need to make money, but making 2-3 grand on a 10 grand car is ridiculous
What about buying new versus 2 or 3 years old on PCP? The interest rate is so high on used that it almost works out the same when you factor in warranty & mot costs on used 🤔
I want to buy a used car from FB marketplace but buy/start the insurance policy after 20 days of buying the car. How can I ask it to the seller? Should I bring the car on the same day I purchase to the home or on the day of insurance policy starts?
Few options. If you have another car you are the policy holder on it might allow you to drive it home 3rd party if the seller agrees to keep their policy active. Temp insurance cover to get it home. Or take the policy early and cancel it, although this may incur a fee. Personally I’d probably just buy the policy as if you take it home and it’s sitting uninsured anything could happen to it. Damage, stolen etc. good luck!
Absolute Tosh , the cars are not driven in the sea . Most cars in the WOS are fine as like any vehicle if looked after and serviced it will not be a problem .
Hi very good video PLEASE HELP I need a 7 seater preferably a Toyota Corolla petrol because I mainly do short journeys is that correct I Dnt know much about cars. Which one would you recommend please
I have a quastion I would like to buy a bmw series from sytner bmw ,the car has only 35000 miles and it's from 2017 so 7 years old. They never did any thing only oils and filters I was wondering if they should change all tires because they are 7 years old from new.
I tend to stick to Honda, Suzuki, Toyota or Mazda. Find a well looked after one of these brands and you are less likely to have problems long term.

Avoid the 3 B’s… Birmingham, Bradford or Bangladesh.

Thank you. I’m an American expat just moved here and in the market for a new car. This is very helpful!
Very welcome!
Great vid. Very helpful. About to view a high mileage BMW 320d estate. Need a family estate that’s safe and keep us going for 1-2 years.

Find two or three local garages with good feedbacks online or ask friends. Always good to have a few as the good ones are always very busy.
That A Class 1.5 is ultra reliable Renault engine. Fantastic economy & reliability!
Honda Jazz, was it damp in the boot or rear footwells?
Make sure to check the bodywork when the car is dry, a wet car can disguise issues😊
Great tip!
Thank you for the advice. Will be in touch soon.
Not every youtuber is going to be completely honest and transparent 😄
So you get the insurance on a car to take on a test drive to find out it’s no good ! Buying a car nowadays is a pain with ANPR about
Top video !!
the problem is a huge amount of car dealers are selling way above guide price and offering trade in way below value!!
Thats how business works..

I have just passed my test but was told that it was not a good idea to buy a car from facebook marketplace because you will be scammed
Take a mechanic minded friend with you. Never meet in car parks and buy one from someone who is not the owner.
Lots of good advice.

Avoid a car that's been run on the west coast of Scotland, the wet salty air rusts them out.

Avoid a car that’s been run in the tayside area, the sun exposure will warp the panels
@@badgasaurus4211😂😂
@@brianmonahan7990 Maybe it's been exaggerated? I've seen some real rust buckets from Scotland. It's the salt.
@@JC-hu1wd It’s cars that have not been looked after / properly maintained that become rust buckets .
