throw a guptech parametric EQ pedal in the loop, adds a resonance control so you’ll get all the low end of a 5150, learned that from Gary Holt… game changer for the Jubilee
@@RyanCowley_ that’s actually an insanely good idea
Freakin great tone... Still im a Vox player... That ac30 or even ac100 is soo underrated for metal
@@RyanCowley_thanks for that tip. Been meaning to get one of those Guptech’s.
@agufish - see if Sweetwater would loan you an 800 to A/B. I would love to Hear you eat some of your words. I loved my 800 & I’ve never played a Jubilee, but the 800 is the penultimate Marshall sound to me. Boost with an OD-1 is Garage Mullet Metal at its finest.
My 100W Jubilee into the matching 4x12 miced with a 57 and a 421 is how I tracked my band's new EP. Love the Jube, and yours sounds sick here
You put your all into every video. Seriously tempting me into getting a Jubilee.
Thanks, man! If I like something, I try and full ass share my enthusiasm with you guys lol
Even the 20 watt Jubilee sounds amazing, personally though, I’m more of a vintage Marshall fan, but I also can’t justify Marshall’s US pricing, so I bought a JTM clone.
@watersnortmoment3734 Look and Sweetwater, now you can get these amps and even the JVM 410 for under 2k.. I'm very seriously thinking about snagging one. I agree on the crazy prices and I don't know if that's just a sale or what.
I've bought and sold just about every amp Marshall makes through the years. I still have my 100 watt Jubilee 2555 and 100 watt JCM800 2210 from 1987... they're my two favs.
Keep them !
I bought a 2203 re-issue a couple of years ago, and the only thing I want is to get another so I could have one at home as well as at the rehearsal room
absolutely.... I'm never letting them go. @@russromito4903
I just wish Marshalls didn’t cost damn near double what they cost in Europe for US buyers. That makes it so clones and other brands like Friedman are far more responsible of a choice.
@@watersnortmoment3734I see these kicking about marketplace in the UK all the time for half the price of rectifiers… must be the opposite where you are
The Silver Jubilee has always been my favorite Marshall ever. It's was the only Marshall I ever plugged into that immediately sounded like a Marshall always sounded in my head. A Plexi, and especially a Super Lead Plexi, most people will never get the opportunity to play it loud enough to get the sound they hear on albums…or at least they never could before load boxes and IR cabs existed.
If you're a Strat player that uses higher levels of gain, the darker and smoother character makes it the ideal Marshall. I've been building and working on amps for 15 years, and the only other amp I've played that I would choose over it would be a Soldano SLO 100, but at $4000 it's beyond most players reach.
I’ve got a Jubilee and it’s absolutely killer. Every point that Agufish makes here is spot on, although one thing it’s worth adding is that it takes pedals incredibly well - the clean channel is a superb pedal platform!
I found the cleans lacking compared to the Twin. It's clean, and it sounds wonderful, but it's not the pedal platform that Fender's amps are. Not even close.
“Watch your words” is a fave AB deep cut of mine! Their entire debut album is solid gold. Great stuff man!
You need to do a updated guitar collection video and studio tour video!
At this point that'll be a lonnnngggg video haha, but I still haven't done one for this year. I'll try and get it filmed this month!
@@agufish that would be awsome
It would also be great to have a video that explains design decisions for your guitar line.
That was so cool of you to buy a full 100w model. That's how Silver Jubilees were meant to be played.
I have the jcm slash version from 1996, it rocks! but i kinda prefer the vintage modern a bit more 😎
your chops keep getting better and better, this is easily the cleanest demo i've heard from you in a long time.
I love that model of Marshall! That’s definitely my favorite model and I’m planning on grabbing the full sized version along with the little brother 20 watt version.
Fuck yes, I had two JCM 800s from 1984 - 1996 with two 1960A four twelve cabs and gigged with that rig every weekend. That’s when I was young, dumb and full of, you know. lol it always sounded so fucking good though. I miss those days.
Some tool would sound bad ass coming out of that amp!
So weird, I was was had the exact same thought about 5 secs before reading your comment lol
I love every single amp demo/review on this channel.
Can't wait to see the EVH 5150 Stealth review.
What speaker you pushing it through?
I'm using a Custom IR that Luke and I have been working on, but it's a blend of a 4x12 and a 2x12, both loaded with V30s mic'd with an SM57.
@@agufish No greenbacks? That’s what I first think of when I think Marshall
The riff has a happy walk with me in hell feel. :D
Did you really just pull off a Nickleback riff at 13:00?
It's honestly the perfect mix of simplicity and versatility in many ways. You have cascading gain channels, a beautiful clean channel (no seriously), and it can cover many different styles. It's one of my favorite amplifiers, period.
I’ve got the 20w mini head and cab. I always look at other amps and try to find “THE ONE”. But I always go back to this. It does everything. It sounds exactly how I need it to. And that’s exactly the point.
Great vid and glad ya love the amp. I recently was able to get an EVH 5150 EL34 combo (i picked the combo for the power attenuator it has) and let me tell you, that amp is awesome. I tried the 6L6 version and Channel 3 of course was awesome, but if i had channel 1 set up sounding good, ,then channel 2 was garbage and vise versa. With the EL34, i can have all of them sounding great at same time and i truly love it. Have been wanting this amp for years and i sold 2 guitars and an amp to get it, and it was well worth it. I love marshalls, but this EVH is awesome in its own right but its in the same ball park as the marshall imo just a little cheaper 😇
10/10 a Marshall will never not cut. It’s like a mustang where many wanna trash talk but it remain the standard by which many say “ it’s at least as fast as”. Have a 2210 with minor custom work and I absolutely love it.
7:25 and 8:00 almost almost the sound
Great amp! Used to have a 2555x amp and matching 4x12 and it crushed. Lovely clean channel and awesome crunch and lead for heavy rock and proto metal.
opening riff gave me some mastodon vibes
Should have given Trivium- rain vibes. Considering that's exactly what it was... Just slow
Came here to say that, ascendancy was such a banger for the time.
That intro jam was so dope.
Never played a jubilee either but Marshall is just it for me. Always sounds right. Had a Valvestate when I was a kid and a DSL now. Always sounds right.
Hey man, such a nice amp congrats!! Can you link the storage racks you are using for your amp heads behind you?? I am looking to do a similar setup, but struggling to find the right size. Thanks!!
The tones you're getting here are awesome! What do you think the biggest difference sound-wise between the silver jubilee and the DSL line? Inherited a DSL15C and it's been working great so far tone-wise
Whoa dude I think this is one of my favorite songs you’ve done 🤘🏽
I have the Mini Jubilee 20W and I love it! Just curious - what were your EQ and gain settings? 6 on all and gain on max? I tried that and I felt that the gain was a bit too much/muddy if pushed to the max, especially on the clean channel since the gain is also shared between the two channels which is important when swapping between them
if it's muddy back the gain off and boost it with a tube screamer it'll clear that mud up and get the gain u want back
@@jordanfipps733 Yeah that's what I do too and it works really well! I was mainly curious about the crushing tone Agufish got in the video, but perhaps that was boosted then?
@@adamskold6395from the signal chain list on the bottom of the video I'd assume he's running a precision drive in front of it for the Gainier stuff
which would make sense to me since Marshall's are usually kinda mushy unless you know how to set the gain and use the right drive on it to clear it up
when i decided to get into the rest of the guitar stuff besides guitars, i figured if i wanted a tube amp i'd start with marshall. at the time the new 20 watts were fresh on the market, and after hours and hours of youtubing to the best of my ability, and interpretation of what i heard on the youtubes, i ended up with the SC20H, the baby JCM 800.
and i'll say this, it sounds good on a reasonable volume, but it's godlike when it's pushed way beyond the "do you think the neighbours will be annoyed by this?". it's accompanied by an early 90s mesa 2x12 (metal grille).
i will never sell it!
Someone get this man a BE100 Deluxe.
Yeah that TONE IS AMAZING!! Young man your doing the damn thang!!!
Hello and thank you for the review. How did you record the sound? With a mic (if so what cabinet?) or impulse responses?
I was working at Guitar Center San Francisco and of course this store got the first of these amps available. This amp was widely disliked by Marshall enthusiasts at the time and was not a big seller. This was when a lot of metal players (Metallica amongst them) were frequently visiting the store. It had too much going on for some Marshall fans and many could not get a sound they liked. The truth is that they really weren't very open-minded about it and likely didn't give it much of a chance. I liked it right away but, in those days, I wasn't into Marshalls at all. It's good to see that it's still around and appreciated today.
I’ve got both mini versions of the Jubilee and JCM800. I genuinely can’t decide which I prefer. They’re similar and yet different at the same time. The 800 has a lot less gain but if you throw in a boost it can do almost everything the Jub does. They’re both a lot of fun to play live!
Very old school Alter Bridge sounding intro demo. ❤❤❤❤ I love it
Totally agree with your review of this amp here dude..
Sounds amazing! Beans on toast...my British Grandma(Nana) always called it shit on a shingle. 😂
I'm a bedroom player...when I was a teen I had a Lead 12 and it sounded great.Just getting back into playing and rebought the same amp and still is killer.
I dunno, Marshall that sounds I love.👍
My first amp was a Lead 12 mini stack. I wish I still had that little thing.
Hey brotha, how is using it at home? Does it sound decent for high gain tones at lower volumes or do you have to crank it to get the goods
Good trick with the Jub, just park the output master knob around 6 (there's a sweet spot/boil-over point you'll feel) and just use the lead master knob for your volume. You can actually get good lower volume tone that way.
Beans on toast is a lunch staple mate. We do canned spaghetti on toast too. Try it , you'll like it. Butter the toast. Don't forget to butter the toast and use a knife and fork. Don't try to pick it up. ;) lol Nice review! Cheers
Yeah, I have English cousins who said the same thing. Not falling for that again 😂
One day a Marshall would be awesome. I rented one back in 2008. It was a tube combo amp. I don’t know the model but you could feel the wind coming through the speakers as you played. At the time I had an Ltd with emgs 81/85. It was a true feeling literally the air you were playing through the guitar. Amazing experience. Haven’t played one since.
I’ve played the mini version combo and it’s great!
when you doing a full review of the 7 string jupiter?
Hey Hunter. What IR’s do you use for your amp demos such as this one?
Bought a 2555 in '88 new in the box at the store I worked at and a few years later an '88 2550.they are fewrer than 50 digits apart in their serial numbers. Same amps as Silver Jubilee's just in black levant and gold face plates.I modded them to run 6550's or KT88's in the power section.the absolute bombs.
I love this amp so much, Been messing around with the amp plugin to the point where I am saving up my dollars to buy the real thing. great amp.
I love that In Waves chorus riff more than I can explain 😂
sounds ridiculously amazing.
You are slowly morphing into a riff God
I think you should definitely try a JVM next, I think you'll love it :)
Hell yeah!! Marshall is the best! Love my jubilee!!
2nd video I have spotted The Darkness “Black Shuck” riff example. Love it 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Killer tones, sir! The Silver Jubilee slays! It'd be interesting to see what you think of the JVM410H and its two differently voiced overdrive channels (OD1 higher frequency mid hump, British; OD2 lower frequency mid hump, American) in comparison. I know a lot of people swear by the Jubilee over the JVM410, but not all.
I love JVMs, and don’t get why someone wouldn’t.
Nice sounding demo track 🤘
It sounds like mini fridges and overpriced bluetooth speakers
That's the holy grail TOAN bb
I’ve owned vintage and reissue jCM800 2203.
I have sold all My 800’s and only have the Jubilee now.
The Jubilee is what I always wanted my 2203’s to sound like.
The jubilee is slightly more refined than the jcm 800 but it has more
versatility and can get way more gain than a stock 800.
If you need more gain put a Friedman Buxom Boost in front you’ll be in metal heaven!
I love that the reissue jubilee has
user accessible
bias points. I highly recommend picking one of these up for any rock and metal player
I really like the jubilee, but for me the very top of Marshall tone is the Valvestate 8100. Now I know an absurd amount of people think it’s a crap amp, but for me it contains the soul of Marshall, and so much more when it comes to metal (especially old school death metal and melodic black metal). I would absolutely love a video from you on the valvestate. Also, if you ever try to go Canadian for a video, have a look at traynor. Love your channel and keep it up!
For me, it’s the classic Marshalls, like the JTM. I haven’t played a JMP or any of the others people classify as Plexis, but the JTM sounds damn good.
The Half power mode makes it darker and smoother. It reminds me of a Mesa Mark kind of tone. At low volume a boost is necessary to get the high gain goodness.
I had a JCM 800 20w and a 2525 20w, I sold both to buy a JCM 800 2203. The JCM 800 2203 is the Marshall sound (with the 1959). The JCM is way nastier than the silver jubilee . With a SD1 in front, nothing can compare to a JCM 800. Maybe one day I’ll buy a 100w silver jubilee because they are very cheap here in Europe (1200€) compare to the US. But if you want the Marshall sound you need a JCM 800 or a Plexi first.
Awesome. I have the same amp too. What speakers are you rocking in that cab? :D
@Agufish Great riffs! The sound is great, but without great riffs, it is just noise ;-). You rock!
Seemed like the medium output pickups had the best overall tones. The SD '59 and Slashbucker alnico ii in particular stood out for clarity and balance. I've noticed people are trending back towards the classic medium hot pickups and away from all the high output overwound stuff that's been popular for awhile. Every amp responds a bit differently to various pickups.Cabs and speakers just aren't as important as some claim them to be.
Here is my problem with the Jubilee (which I owned at one point): it is not a traditional two-channel amp. It has two channels, yes, but you can not max out both channels for a totally clean, totally saturated tone. You can set it up so you have low-gain and mid-gain, or no-gain to low-gain, but you can not go from clean to fully distorted. To do that, you'd have to mod it or use pedals... so it's pretty much a one-trick pony.
This is ultimately why I got rid of it. There was a time when distortion only came from amps, but that time passed long ago. Now we have pedals that sound just as good, so it makes much more sense to get a clean amp like a Twin and go that route. You can do so much more with it, and you're not confined to one tone.
And if THAT isn't enough, we even have virtual amps... although I hate them lol.
You made some good points there man. I'm forever trying to decide if I prefer my jube or my Twin with pedals. The Twin is definitely a more versatile rig (even if it is an absolute bitch to move around😂)
@@mattchurchill Yeah. The weight is ridiculous. I think if I were gigging, I'd get a Hotrod or something like that and leave the Twin for studio/home use. Way too heavy lol.
Your guitar collection is really getting Ace.
The demo is one of your bests this year
It’d be fun for you to get your hands on a Marshall JVM 410h. The opposite of simple, but it’s a sick amp. OD 1 orange is such a great tone (or red if you’re using low output pickups) for high gain rhythm
Great video! I run a DSL40CR as a head into a Wizard 2x12 with G12 Heritage30s and I can nail the Jubilee and JCM800 overdrive tones. But damn I can't touch those Jubilee cleans!
Loved this video! Can you do the same with the studio version?
Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹
The only experience I have with the jubilee is with the softubes plugin and it sounds like yours but with a less warm tone while clipped.
You make it sound like every known band uses it :D
I agree with you bro.
I honestly like the simplicity of the tone controls, sometimes less is more.
As so many of us, all my life I have been looking for the perfect sound. I have found it in the combination of a standard strat and a black jubilee 2550 (Marshall made the silver jubilee for 1,5 years longer, but in a black housing). The reissue does come close. I think the difference must have to do with the transformers because the circuitry is exactly the same. I played my original next to the reissue and yes, there is a difference. As the originals are very hard to find (in a good condition), the reissue is in my opinion the 2nd best amp Marshall ever made.
What is the clone you are referring too. I’m intrigued. Great demo btw
I was looking at Ceriatone… I forgot which of their models is based on the Jube, but you can also get them with additional mods like a depth control so that was very tempting
Thanks, I enjoyed the classic tones/riffs...probs never get the amp🙄 but I was brainwashed by Marshall marketing as a younger player so I had to watch🤣
What’s the song at 8.30? My head has gone completely blank and it’s on the tip of my tongue…
Love the jubilee. Just wish I had the money and space and ability to play at high enough volumes to make a proper valve head worthwhile
love my dsl40cr
Now that you've got us salivating over the big Jubilee, you NEED to do an A/B with the 20watt - we need a sense of the differences..... please. :)
Beans on toast rocks. You'll be hearing from my lawyer. And from Bradley Hall.
I one of these. Great amps. But recently got the jvm joe satriani edition. Man now that is the best Marshall ever made. I also have the slash afd100. But the joe satriani jvm is the best ! Ps boost the lead channel with a klon and it’s heaven on the jubilee !
I'm pretty happy with my new Origin 50 amp. I've always loved the silver jubilee, though.
How does the Origin 50 compare to the Jube? Been very curious about them
It..... really doesn't. The Origin is a throwback to the '60s early days of Jim Marshall. Stripped down and simple sound. If you want any distortion like the Jubilee, you have to run pedals through it. What my point is, you've got an all around bad ass amp. I will be getting myself one, as well.
What amazes me is that it’s a grand cheaper in Europe… Love Marshalls as well, I own a VS8100 and a JVM205. The JVM being my favourite Marshall ever.
It's because (surprise!), it's made in Europe. American made products are cheaper in America and alot of times never available outside America.
You should show raw amp tone vs pedal boost and different eq and gain settings
Honestly, the silver jubilee is my all-time favorite amp besides the rectifier sound but yes, this is a Marshalls best amp period .
😂😂😂😂 questionable financial responsibility.... that a great description for me too!
I am not a Marshall fan in the slightest but I always make an exception for a 800 or a Silver Jubilee. Being a 90s early 00s skate punk kid, they nail that Fat Wreck / Epitaph punk tone like no other!
What’s the riff at 10:35?
Plz make a video on the Hughes and kettner mk2
You should see if you can get your hands on a Marshall with a 34, 36 (Appetite for Destruction sound), or 39 mod for a video. A lot of those 80's marshall mods were the precursors to the silver jubilee. I have a Silver Jubilee too, but it doesn't hold a candle to some of the mods from back then. Would definitely be an interesting vid, this mods were the tone for a lot of well known songs from that era.
I still want one of those, i have 2 DSL H 100 watt heads got a great deal years back with Sweetwater now every amp has gone up by like 400.00bucs man ,If i have a choice on my next Amp its going to b the EVH Stealth 6L6 100,or the Marshall Jubilee will be difficult choice man😂..awesome video u do great work on u channel Hunter 👍 🍻🎸🎶
What is the song played at 8:30!? Thanks in advance. Trivium maybe?
In Waves - Trivium
Great metal tones, but you skipped the excellent clean channel with clipping circuit sound: amazing with Fender Texas Specials!
Beans on toast and Marshall is the English way. I Like earl Grey too. Hi! from Warwickshire.
Get yourself some thick sliced white bread, toast it, butter it and pour on some Heinz Baked beans, wash that down with a hot cup of Yorkshire Tea… Then go play through the Jubilee and it’ll sound even more awesome!! Fear death no longer as your life will be complete 😊
I have the "Plexi" sound or the JVM 1 watt 50th Anniversary Head sound.
The nerdy depression of when agufish plays blink through a Silver Jubilee and not a JCM 900
