      Yes sooo different from some of the young players now! One player smashed his racquet at the end of the game and just left it in the.middle of the court like he had some servants who will tidy up for him ( AO)

    You left out one of it not the most poignant moment of his career, while playing at the Australian Open, during a changeover he began to reflect on the dire heath situation of his beloved coach and friend Tim Gulikson and began sobbing. In my humble opinion that spoke volumes about the quality of his character. Pete’s one of the great human beings of the sport who always kept the highest ideals front and center in his career and life.

    oh man, I loved Pete's game in the 90's. he' s the reason i p/u tennis at that time and man was it fun to watch him destroy his opponents with that sizzling serve. further more, i really liked his demeanor, sort of chill n humble on the court. he'll always be my #1 tennis player and i just found out im one day removed from his bday, we're both leos and we're the same age

    Mark Philasopis?? If you're a serious tennis site, get the names right! And I also recall Sampras saying his name was just Pete, not Peter.
    I've been watching tennis since the 70s, and he remains the best player I've seen, and supremely graceful on the court.

    I’ve always like Pete and now even more. It takes a really different kind of person to not want to be in the light of fame and fortune. I’ve always appreciated his demeanor and quietness. He is a Silent Professional. If there was anyone that I would like to emulate on the court, it would be Pete Sampras.

    Pete was a great tennis professional, extremely successful and a gentle quiet man who did his job on the court and preferred to live a private life out of the limelight. Many media people couldn't figure him out, sometimes calling him 'boring' BUT to me he did his job with great skill and natural talent, and went about his life personal quietly. I just wish more 'so-called stars' did that instead of boring us with their histrionics. Stay safe, happy and well with your family, Pete. Thanks for sharing your tennis skills with us🤘👌👏👍

    Pete was the guy that started the power tennis drive, and had heavy hard hitting serves, arguably still the best serve and volley in the game. I don't remember Pete getting upset or angry in any tournament, and I still wish he could have won the French Open at least once in his amazing career. But he has that record still of 6 consecutive years as world number 1

    • @ALSILVERU2
      @ALSILVERU2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never liked tennis or watched until somehow in late 80s I came across him and I think, its been so long?? I was amazed at his power drives 100mph I think and he won matchez where his opponents couldnt respond to his fast serve failed or looked foolish if they tried lol I think he beat Agassi who all the girls loved and man he was just a quiet no show off type dude defeating everyone with his fast serve. I always wondered why I never herd much off the court and today 1:37am July 4th 2022 I decided to yt Sampras and behold, a recent video and I see he intentionally kept the media out and thats awesome and glad to see he got his stolen trophys back. That must have twisted his gutts nightly and cause an early death if it stayed that way.
      I never even knew he played recent years and I'm all over the place with media never once hearing his name. I kinda actually searched to make sure he wasnt ___ .
      Good video thanks!

    Sampras' game, as P Mac said, was the pinnacle of old-school tennis. In my earlier years, I was drawn to more flashy styles of play and Pete's just seemed bland though lethal. As my tennis improved I began to really appreciate the beauty and effectiveness of his game. His coach Landsdorp once remarked Pete would have an edge against Federer because of his mental toughness. I agree with his assessment.

    Does anyone here think a Prime Sampras could be a prime Dj, Federer, or Nadal? I personally do, especially with the serve and volley.
