This has been an issue lately especially with ff16! I can only imagine when games get more graphically intense what will happen. This video will age very well, makes sense with the psu vents blocked it causes overheating.

Thank you bro. You saved me from having pay someone 200 or more to do what you just did or even charge me to replace something. Ps5 was getting hot while playing games and would shut off in 15 min. Did what you did and so far so damn good. Thank you.
I don't have this issue, but I do regularly clean the fan and heatsink area of the PS5. From doing so, I'll just say that it's no problem to disconnect the fan.. Just carefully lift up the one side of that black "hard tape" cover to access the fan connection, and gently disconnect it. Having proper tools for that should help. And I call it tape, because it's not glue, it will stick back on when you close it again. By doing so, you can properly clean the fan and have easier access to the heatsink area, for cleaning, and also including the areas shown in this video. If you don't disconnect the fan, and you juggle the PS5 around, you risk snapping the fan cables. It's better to risk breaking the connection, which will not happen if you do it correctly.
I clean mine every three a or four months hav no problems with it the some way you showed in the video don't like messing with the wires good video thumbs up

I'm glad I didn't, so a chicken baster brush or a paint brush or my wife's toothbrush, got it 👍 and I'll have one beautiful looking and functional ps5 again
When cleaning the heatsink/interior, should we always use brushes and what not or can we used compressed air? Thank you. Spiderman 2 has made my ps5 shutdown and im wondering if cleaning the system will help.
Great advice; however, I have never had an issue with my PS5 overheating. I have played over 80 hours of Final Fantasy XVI without it crashing or giving an overheating error message. However, I play on Performance Mode instead of Graphics/Fidelity Mode.
Thanks, this overheating issue i think more has to do with your environment, if you live in a dusty dry place like mine the ps5 fan sucks in that dirt and blocks the airflow to the psu. This issue doesn't bring up an overheating message the console just shuts off thats when you know it's dust build up, I play on performance mode also for hrs on end after the clean.
Instead of doing all this hustle, ship to Sony and they replace your faulty ps5 with a new one that doesn't overheat. I have video of the process. Check my channel.
For people out of warranty your video doesn't help at all. And if your out of warranty you pay 250$ ca to fix it from Sony. I show you how to do it with a 13$ screwdriver set and 40mins of your time. They are not faulty consoles it just dust build up!

When is a manufacturing problem then Sony are responsible for replace the one's have this production problem. (If you chose to open your console tho, Sony will not take in ur console) It's called s defective product issue. I just got my console renewed again for same issue, I first bought the console back in 2020 as a pre order. (4 years) no consoles are older than mine cause it was a pre order and still I got it renewed for free! Again, check my channel for updated video of me shipping in console again + collecting it.
If u have a good collected amount of dust in your fan when pulling out the fan from the console, you'll probably have some dust inside of the heatsink too. It's probably a good idea to get someone to clean out this part of the console too if you're not experienced enough to do it yourself, js. Good job tho cleaning out the fan, man.
I dont think that heatsink is anything to worry about its mainly the heatsink underneath the fan that i show to clean and the psu air vent that will do the job, going on 2 yrs and I only had to clean it once. Thanks for watching i appreciate it.
I was having the issue where my PS5 turned off by itself after 30 minutes to 1 hour of playing (or maybe less, sometimes). I cleaned the fan and nothing. I played without a cover plate and that help out but not entirely. It was until I cleaned that power source ventilation like it's shown in this video and that solve the issue. So, if you are having trouble playing and your ps5 turns off, and you have to unplug it from the electricity. Then this is what you have to do to solve it.

That's the exact issue I had, this video will fix that problem 100%. You can use a vacuum but depending on how dirty the vent is it may need to be brushed off first.

Nice vid mate but my PS5 shutsdown by itself after 1 minute of play today playing Gran Turismo 7, and the last time I used my PS5 was yesterday. I dont think its a PS5 over heating issue but more like a PS5 game issue, because my PS5 can shutdown down by itself and after that then I can play for hours with no issue shutting down. I can play Gran Turismo Sport on my PS5 all day and that game is a PS4 game, no shutdown even if the PS5 is warm as soon as I pay GT7 it shuts down. Then after 1 minute I get PS5 working again and play GT7 for hours with no issue of shutting down, and I have seen videos on how to change the settings on my PS5 to try to stop the console from shutting down, and the console still does it after the change. I here other players playing other PS5 games than GT7 and it still shuts down, and then they play PS4 games on PS5 with no problems at all. And very sorry for the to long post, and I still think it a PS5 AAA game issue making the PSU work a bit hard.
Hey Chris, have you tried cleaning the part that I show in the video? If not you should give it a try, cause that was my issue also ps4 games were fine but as soon as I played returnal or smm (ps5) 20-30min just shuts off. If you have already done that to no avail then there are two more things you can try. 1. If you have your ps5 vertical try to lay it down flat instead because there is a vent on the stand side that could be causing the issues. 2. Try a rebuild of your data base. Turn off your ps5 then hold the power button till you hear two peeps choose the option rebuild database.
I lay my PS5 down all the time, and no I have not done the cleaning the part that you show in the video. If my PS5 shutsdown while on GT7 and then when I turn on the console back on again and then I can play GT7 again for hours and hours of play with no issues.

Thats because ps5 games draw a lot more power from the system than ps4 games. A humidifier would be good but I heard it leaves weird white marks on the black part of the ps5, its all on reddit let me know if you get this my friend.
Doesn't unscrewing the fan void the warranty? Because for about 2 months, I can no longer play PS5 games because of overheating which occurs between 2 and 15 minutes of play. My PS5 is not even 1 year old...
No it does not void the warranty, because your not removing the fan in which you would have to remove a certain part to unplug the fan and that part will void it. I had my ps5 for about a yr and it started overheating, after this I've never had a problem again.

Just get a long brush down there knock off the dust the get a long extension onto the hoover an suck it all out mine with turning itself off aswell till I seen this blocked vents on mine
A good ventilation area is good but even that sometimes can't stop the buildup of dust, even if you use a fan if the psu is blocked the airflow won't reach where it needs to go.
I'm not sure if there is anything I can really help you with if the video did not help you, for most if not all who followed the video have fixed their ps5. Can you give me details on what happens when you're playing, and also does it only happen with ps5 games or ps4 games also?
It sounds like you may have a messed up power supply and that's what is causing the overheating not dust, so you may need to get it replaced. I would suggest taking it in for a diagnostic at a repair shop cause if no video has helped than it is probably a broken part.
i don’t even know what to say anymore. ive done everything ive seen that people said could work and still when i play ps5 games especially newer ones it gets loud and pops up an overheating screen everytime
You might have a more severe problem, if you kept your ps5 vertical it could be that the liquid metal has slid off the apu, and that's causing it to overheat.

Didn’t even think to check all the way back there 🤦🏻♂️ I’ll definitely be doing this in the morning cause I need to play Honkai Updated: Woke up at 6am to clean it & like he said in the video, it was caked up & I used a stencil to scrape the dust off but it actually did the trick! No more random shut downs!
The next time you make a video like this just make sure you take your PS5 apart and clean it the right way clean everything and check if you have enough liquid metal or it might be spill you have to replace the liquid metal or maybe you can modify your console and break a piece of the heat sink off that way to keep your PlayStation 5 cool at all time

Yea psu is easy to swap and replace but the motherboard is a whole other issue, hopefully its the psu cause you're problems seem more related there.

You may just need to replace your fan, from what I've seen about that on reddit it'll fix the issue.

Doesn't unscrewing the fan void the warranty? Because for about 2 months, I can no longer play PS5 games because of overheating which occurs between 2 and 15 minutes of play. My PS5 is not even 1 year old...
No it does not void the warranty, because your not removing the fan in which you would have to remove a certain part to unplug the fan and that part will void it. I had my ps5 for about a yr and it started overheating, after this I've never had a problem again.

@@Mr_Geralt_de_Riv Yes it was the same for me ps4 games were fine but once I tried to play ps5 games like returnal and miles morales in like 30 to 40 mins my ps5 would just shut straight off no warnings.

Just get a long brush down there knock off the dust the get a long extension onto the hoover an suck it all out mine with turning itself off aswell till I seen this blocked vents on mine

I wonder if putting it in a well ventilated area like by a fan would it work out
A good ventilation area is good but even that sometimes can't stop the buildup of dust, even if you use a fan if the psu is blocked the airflow won't reach where it needs to go.

I watched so many tutorials! on how to clean it and to stop it from over heating! can you help me i watched this video and it still didn't work.
I'm not sure if there is anything I can really help you with if the video did not help you, for most if not all who followed the video have fixed their ps5. Can you give me details on what happens when you're playing, and also does it only happen with ps5 games or ps4 games also?
@@platinum5gaming I can't even play games. as soon as i turn it on 10 seconds later the fan goes super loud and turns off!
It sounds like you may have a messed up power supply and that's what is causing the overheating not dust, so you may need to get it replaced. I would suggest taking it in for a diagnostic at a repair shop cause if no video has helped than it is probably a broken part.

i don’t even know what to say anymore. ive done everything ive seen that people said could work and still when i play ps5 games especially newer ones it gets loud and pops up an overheating screen everytime
You might have a more severe problem, if you kept your ps5 vertical it could be that the liquid metal has slid off the apu, and that's causing it to overheat.
@platinum5gaming Vertical is a non issue. Was made up fud unless he opened up the system and disturbed it.

Updated: Woke up at 6am to clean it & like he said in the video, it was caked up & I used a stencil to scrape the dust off but it actually did the trick! No more random shut downs!

The next time you make a video like this just make sure you take your PS5 apart and clean it the right way clean everything and check if you have enough liquid metal or it might be spill you have to replace the liquid metal or maybe you can modify your console and break a piece of the heat sink off that way to keep your PlayStation 5 cool at all time
