A video about an oil change where you don't show the oil change...great.

Don’t get confused, it is very easy. If you have a doubt, take it to a shop

My 2013 says 5w/20 right on the oil filler cap and I have the same engine. The 3.6 pentistar engine.

Tammy Forbes Yes, some of them take 5w-20 and some of them take 5w-30. Just use what your cap says.

Thanks for posting. I have to change the oil on my step sons Avenger this weekend. Didn't realize it took 6 quarts.

As far as the build up you were talking about. I seen it as well in a car that used penzoil which is why I switched to valvoline some time back in the 80s. But I heard that the wax thing wasn't as prominent in the synthetics and semisynthetics. I don't know completely but I have ever had a problem with valvoline personally.

Thanks for the information nice presentation. I was told Valvoline oil uses wax in the oil and over time it will build up inside the engine I have actually seen an engine like that. As far as the oil sensor goes it might pick up particulates in the oil when it gets dirty but find it hard to believe it knows when the oil actually starts to loose its viscosity. I'm a 6 month 6000 mile guy.

that actually used to be true with Pennzoil, never ever had a problem with Valvoline. We did a couple experiments with cars that used Pennzoil and pulled the motors apart, they had clumps of buildup in all the corners and places the oil did not circulate well in. The ones with Valvoline and Castrol also had some buildups but no where near what the Pennzoil motors had. Nowadays, most motor oils across the board are fairly equal. I have seen experiments where several types of oil were mixed together and then tested, and there was no differentiation to tell what types of oil were used.

Keith you may be correct. I was only going by what the mechanic at dodge told me.

This actually requires 5W20 Mopar, pennzoil or shell. Conventional is fine. Does not require synthetic oil. Oil filter CH11665, make sure you replace the gasket.

Kevin Bramble Some take 5w30 some take 5w20. Also the oil filter is an MO-744

According to Chrystler, the Mopar brand is derivative of Valvoline Semi-sythetic

Full synthetic is the best, and high mileage is your car is

Great video I appreciate that help I didn't know. But I have a question for you I have the same car with the same motor when I turn my air conditioner on the temperature gauge goes up real high and then dear conditioner cuts off and the fan blowing in the air into the car cuts off has this happen to you or do you have any idea what this could be?

    • @1WildDragon
      @1WildDragon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm sorry, I never had that happen. this could be the thermostat freezing closed. with the computers in the newer cars, could cause the air controls to shut off automatically when the temp is too high. hope you were able to figure that out.

Make a video on checking the transmission fluids? I see no dip stick

    • @1WildDragon

Eric M Tsosie the avenger uses a sealed transmission system you can't check the transmission fluid you have to take it in for that

My 2008 Avenger V6 has the drain plug and the filter close together. Face full of oil LOL... Uses Metric sockets 1/2" to small and 9/16" to big. Metric for Canada?

I don't know what motor the 2008 had, the Pentastar came out in 2011.
