ADDISON and Saad started off as college friends, but soon realised their feelings for each other were deeper and fell in love. While Addison had never followed a religion before, Saad was a devout Muslim when the pair met. Addison explained to Truly that Saad was, "The first Muslim that I'd ever met. Before meeting Saad, I would definitely say that I had misconceptions about Islam, especially Muslim men and how the religion treated women." When the couple started discussing marriage, Addison toyed with the idea of converting to Islam, but it's something she initially struggled with. She said, "I had a lot of doubts at first. I was researching things on the internet and I'd find really horrible things." But after chatting to Saad about his stance on things, Addison decided to go ahead with the conversion. Sharing her Islam journey online, Addison has received a whole heap of negative comments, with people saying, 'In Islam, women are just about slaves,' and that Saad 'forced' Addison to convert. Ignoring the negativity, Addison won't let the trolls stop her from posting about their life. Addison said, "You should never judge people on things like their race or religion. You should just never judge people before you know them."

The fact that they met on a secular level speaks volumes about their love for each other. He could have been playing around and waiting for his parents to arrange a marriage with a muslim woman, but he was faithful to her instead. And she was so genuinely in love with him that she was willing to convert. Saad appears to be a humble, kind, quiet, peaceful man, and I noticed that he never interjected and just let her talk while he held her hand. I honestly hope they are both happy and comfortable. I think they are sincere.

actually this is so true i knew online lot of pakistan and some india guys what they do is just give fake hopes but on end of the day they dont get caurage to tell their family in homeland about western girl they met,, so they play around then go marry arranged to their country girl.. so far anyone i hoped with on distance never wanted tell family about me or plan a way to meet so at least for them did work out she convert and his family accepted the marriage which is believe me a huge step as many of them wouldnt accept west gf for their son.

Being a Muslim isn't an ethnicity it's a religion.

My aunt is a convert . She was born ans raised in colombia. Raised Catholic. She got a job in the UK and met my uncle. He’s Muslim and they got married and now live in duabi.It’s been 40 + years since she’s been a convert . I also never seen her be treated bad. Everything the girl in video said is 100 % correct ! I’m sorry they get hate :( !

I have lived in the Middle East and have many Muslim close friends. I can 100% tell you that they treat their wives, daughters and sisters with respect. I have been treated far better by my Muslim friends than by most western men.

When I started researching different Abrahamic relationships (Judaism & Islam) ,I was shocked at how much rights women have in Islam & Judaism compared to Christianity and it is sad that culture and extremist groups have ruined the public perception of these beautiful religions.

I also married into Islam! I don’t really practice religion very much but I love learning about it from my husband and being a part of the culture. It’s actually very beautiful and she’s right that many Muslim men (like my husband) are way more respectful of women than your ordinary American man. But of course there are bad men (and women) in every culture, religion, and society.

To be honest they are just like other regular relationship in the sense that they both have feelings for each other and the other is prepared to adjust for him. This is real love as much as he is is to be dedicated to protecting and providing for her.
They speak truth about American perceptions of Islam. Part of it is media presentation and the bigotry. Both sides of the situation is not given. Working with Muslims has been an enriching experience. If one is willing to learn about other cultures, a lot of eye opening information can be learned about ALL diverse cultures. Yeah ok...Muslims leave Islamic countries and they don't want to accept the values of the country they want material gains from but want people to convert to Islam. If this woman had any sense, she would tell him to convert. Muslims never mention the bad side of Islam. If becoming a Muslim makes this woman happy,that's the important thing.
As an atheist,if i ever met a convert to Islam whether its because of marriage or not,I would always show tolerance and respect to them as long as they show that same tolerance and respect back to me by not shoving their new found beliefs down my throat ( no offense) and most importantly respecting my right not to believe in their God.
Respect and tolerance has to work both ways.

As my parents are Jewish,there is a lot of hatred towards Jews here from both Muslims and non Muslims too for something that is happening thousands of miles away to the point that ( unlike Muslims) Jews have been advised here to hide their religious identity whilst out in public for their own safety due to rising antisemitism both here in the U.K and U.S too.😔

If men from this religion are calling you a liar for saying women have rights, that's really saying something. It's not JUST what the religious texts say. It's the culture and collective social beliefs. I would be concerned too.

Islam is a good religion I had a friend and she was treated like a queen although her husband was a truck driver. She is at home chilling taking the kids and making sure the house hold is being whole. She goes on vacations and she do respect her husband although he was Never around much. She had a lot of boundaries when it comes to going out and staying out late, drinking and other adult related stuff. I don't think islam is bad. I think covering up is a dress code.

A husband is permitted to discipline a disobedient woman. He is not allowed to hurt her or insult her. He must first talk to her, then not sleep in the same bed as her, then lightly tap her on the shoulder. He's not allowed to do that if she returns to obedience. Muslim men indeed are allowed to have up to 4 wives by the permission of God, but there is a strict rule to it. The man must treat their wives equally, which is very hard to do. Also, many reasons to marry more than one wife such as to help protect & support the women. It's not about sex or for the sake of having fun, it is all for the sake of God. We Muslim believe this life is temporary and a test, I'm saying this because this might help you see that we have a very different worldview about life itself (than majority non-muslim).

Youll see a pattern around the world generally no matter the race, ethnicity, religion, culture, etc the common problem tends to be MEN. im.not saying women cant be bad etc but specifically when it comes to opression and control with women its a worldwide issue thats always existed. Systems of oppression are created through using religion as a weapon, laws and regulations that hold women almost hostage, or if not that we have common have domestic violenece.
