This is disappointing😔 but based from the Island Nomad's page, The event started with a solemn mass at the grandstand at around 9AM. The carousel parade then started and each participants presented at the grandstand. At around 8PM, the program ended with a 10-min grand fireworks display. The crowd was estimated to be at 600k+.
Please check the video of TG Nomad. You can see the street party in Colon and Fuente Osmena streets. TG Nomad is just a new vlogger, a young American who studies in Cebu.
I enjoyed my Sinulog experience in the past. Looks like they changed the venue though Cebu is already congested and traffic even before. You also need to witness Iloilo’s Dinagyang Festival (considered as Best Tourism Event in the Phils) after your visit in Cebu, that would be next Sunday. 😊
Unfortunately, we Cebuanos were not unified at this year's Sinulog due to political tensions and for the first time they changed the main venue, hoping to see it better next time around, Hope you guys had a great time here in Cebu. :)🥳😉🙃
Another thing is, the organizer and the local government tried to please the biggest sponsors by changing the venue near them. It was so awful and not very well thought. Changing the venue just for Sponsor's sake

Too bad you and many people missed the festival events because you were all waiting at the wrong place. Main venue was in front of NuStar hotel or near it. It started on time as scheduled. Anyways, the events can be watched in Mergim Vlogs who was able capture it from morning to evening. Also in Make It Happen vlog of Mike, and Zoe&Czar Vlog. Good efforts though!
Probably no proper instruction or guides were provided on the road/street.. Not everyone would know to search it online. Sorry guys. This is the first for everyone even for locals. After they change the venue

@@cebuelitemachinesinc.1995 toxic ka talaga! Di naman sabay sa Sinulog mo ang Dinagyang. Kung gustong pumunta sa Dinagyang bakit mo pipigilan? Sinulog and Dinagyang are just the offshoot of the original Ati-Atihan in Kalibo, a three-day revelry. Dinagyang started in the late 60s, Sinulog came later.
@@elyserva7903 he's just speaking the truth. but you;re all celebrating Santo Nino right? Must you forget Santo Nino was given to a Santo Nino in Cebu back in the 15th century. Cebu is where catholicism started. Original parin ang Cebu. Though mother of festivals ang dinagyan but it's not the biggest, grandest, most epic fun, nor the festival of the festivals in the country.
Yeah I agree with you. This year was possibly the worst Sinulog I’ve ever experienced. Everybody was really confused due to the political tension and change of venue.
The Sinulog in the past is very different from the Sinulog 2023 today because of the new venue itself. If you visit like Fuente or Mango Avenue you can feel their the fest where people gets wild, having parties on the streets and have paints everywhere in the faces. I thought I would see you in person because I'm from Cebu anyway love from Cebu, Philippines 🇵🇭
@@juandelacruz8322 like duh cause I experienced it myself though. Like what you can do there is to roam around the Mall and anything else. Unlike before duh. Maybe you experienced differently from what I've experienced in Sinulog 2023 but I'm just stating what I've experienced in Sinulog 2023.
sorry to hear you had a bad experience in Cebu, as someone who also considered visiting Sinulog this year, the news of this year's preparations hasn't been great. hopefully you can still have a better experience next time. If you still don't have any strict plans for this weekend (21&22), you might consider travelling to neighboring islands, Iloilo City is celebrating Dinagyang and Bacolod City is celebrating Bacolaudiat (Chinese Lunar New Year!) and Dinagsa as well in Cadiz City!
I love your HONEST opinion. The new Sinulog route is chaotic compared to the traditional route. It was a costly experimental decision but well, the Sinulog Foundation and their PR Team said it was a success. I’m a local but NO WAY i’m going to head to that new location next year.
Thats true. The Sinulog 2023 last Sunday is much different from the past because of the new venue of the parade which is far from the business district. If you only go to Colon and Fuente Osmena streets ( the original venue ) instead, you would experience the gathering of mass of people who still celebrated it in traditional ways where thousands of people became crazy wild, squeezing each other and had paints on their faces like a street party.
If I'm from cebu I would never vote for a mayor who is not catholic. Remember Cebu is the birthplace of catholicism in the Philippines. Don't vote for a non catholic next time Cebuanos.
There were 3 Vloggers I saw who had a different experience, it was more live and people were throwing colors at them. They also captured the dancers and float like it should be. Too bad you guys didn’t get the full experience.
@@bernadettesanjuan7255 well they did according to their vlog, it’s a matter of talking to the right people. I think Mergim Vlogs and Travelwith_Success had the best experience from this Festival.

Love your honesty as always and that you never fawn over stuff just to please the viewers. Seriously though, you guys put some other Pinoys -- myself included -- to shame just with the sheer love and interest you have shown for the Philippines and Filipino culture. We sometimes favor everything foreign more than our own and you guys inspire us to love and appreciate all things Pinoy. I hope your Cebu itinerary includes Oslob and Kawasan falls, you won't regret it. My best memory of Cebu is swimming so close to a whale shark I could touch it; and that specific moment still haunts me to this day, not in a nightmarish kind of way, in a very good way. Canyoneering in Kawasan left my butt bruised for over a week but I'd do it all over again if I could. So, enjoy, eat your bizcuit, wear sunscreen, and stay safe, ya bunch of frackers! 💯
Hey guys! I’m also from Minnesota but born and raised in Bacolod City. There is a festival this weekend called Bacolaodiat. You can actually catch the Ceres bus from Cebu to Bacolod. Make sure it’s the aircon bus. While in Bacolod, make sure you go to Manokan Country and try the chicken inasal. Enjoy your time!

Unfortunately they were waiting at the wrong place. It was not a failure at all, lt started on time as scheduled near NuStar hotel. Watch Mergim vlog, Making It Happen, and Zoe&Czar Vlogs. They were able to capture the excitement of the festival events.
@@eds7933I'm sure the boys' lack of sleep affected their energy during the day, and probably their patience. But as they narrated in their vlog, they clearly asked multiple people, multiple times about when and where they could watch the parade. They checked the published schedules even before flying to Cebu. Even the locals around them were confused and disappointed. That's clearly a failure on the part of this year's festival organizers. They did not properly disseminate information about the performance venues and the parade route, because if they did, majority of the crowd would have known. The event area would have signs and schedules posted everywhere. Not to mention several towns chose not to participate this year due to issues with the venue. Just because some people had a better time and knew all the right places doesn't mean it's automatically a resounding success. (Not to mention most vloggers filter their opinions and only post positive comments because that's better for engagement. These boys have always been honest in their opinions and that's why most of their viewers love them for it.) The quicker people accept the valid criticism, the sooner you can figure out what to do better for next year's festival.
You're frustrations are valid. Seven hour delay is just ridiculous. Kudos to both of your patience. I'd be like "fvck this, I'm going home" 😂 Am glad you still had fun though. Thank you for showing us a part of the parade. Hope you have fun in Cebu!
We feel you guys 😩 it’s really curious that literally no other vloggers mentioned the delays?? Epic editing 😅 can’t wait to see more Cebu vlogs - and your adventures in Vietnam! Get some rest!!
I was planning to attend 2024. After this vlog… think not Cebu. OMG. I got exhausted just watching! Thanks for showing the real deal. Safe travels guys. ;)
The parade started early like 7:30AM but you just had to find the parade route. You should be in City di Mare because that's one of the parade stations. I was able to watch some vloggers uploading videos in which they went there as early as 10AM and they were dancing and having so much fun (i.e. travelwith_success, making it happen, Zoe&car,, our sweet hideout, mergim vlogs, etc.)
So true but they tend to rely on handouts and posting in the website of government which is most of the time unreliable. Maybe they are not able to talk to the right people and just goes with the flow or what the posters in their area tells. Watching the vlog is also disappointing since they just roam around the mall and stand in the sun. But this is not their fault at the very least. Maybe they were just simply at the wrong place and did not plan very well
Mergim Vlogs knew what he was doing. Festivals like Sinulog, you should not only be a spectator. Join the fun, interact wth the performers. Have fun learning the dance steps, etc...
@@janongski pretty much they got it their way LOL I’d say lack of effort, they want the fun served to them in a silver platter. They could’ve done more research or as an influencer…it’s easy for them to tap more people in LGU or the organizers.

I saw other vloggers right in the thick of the parade they went to side streets and got their faces painted. Perhaps it was way too early when you came in. Nothing eve starts on time in Philippines. It’s also the first time they held it in 2 years due to covid. Sinulog typically is rowdy with lots of costumes and parade and paint. People yelling pit senor. Fire works at night.
You are in the area where the parade is about to end. You should stay in the area in Fuente Osmena Avenue in the Circle where the parade starts. It starts at 9am, and because you’re at the end at the parade, the parade line is long. Next time, book in one of the hotels in Fuente Osmena one year ahead where you can go up the hotel while watching the parade and sleep, and come down to continue watching the parade. Choose the hotel where parade passes by on the street it is located
Sinulog parade is so long that parade starts at 9am where the it starts and ends at 7pm in the evening. It is meant to be the longest parade in the world. This was about 10 years ago the last time we watched the parade.

In Sinulog Dance competition, there are two major categories for participants to choose: the traditional and original Sinulog-based Category and Free Interpretation Category. The Sinulog-based category needs to follow strict rules on the traditional steps: two steps forward and one step backward. However, the drumbeats and the music should adhere to Sinulog music. You may choose to use modern music but has to be modified in attune to Sinulog beats.

I really appreciate that you guys are like immersing in the Filipino culture and eventually trying out the things about us like food and now festivals. Just a saddening fact tho coming from a Filipino herself. MOST FILIPINOS DON'T KNOW THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SUCH FESTIVAL BEING CELBRATED EVERY TIME OF THE YEAR. IT'S TIME FOR US TO GO BACK TO OUR ROOTS AND DEEPEN OUR UNDERSTANDING AND FAITH ABOUT THE TRADITIONS WE ARE DOING ESPECIALLY THOSE OF SPIRITUALITY. SINULOG IS OF SPIRITUALITY - HOW CHRISTIANITY BECAME IN THE PHILIPPINES. SINULOG FESTIVAL IS NOT JUST A FESTIVAL OF BEING AESTHETICS, DANCING OR AMAZING FOOD, TO THE EXTENT THAT PEOPLE DO FOOLISH THINGS AND WEAR FOOLISH DRESSES. THAT'S WHY SOME WILL NOT TRULY ENJOY THESE KIND OF CELEBRATION BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW THE TRUE MEANING BEHIND THIS , WHY IT IS CELEBRATED. SO DEAR YOUNG CATHOLICS OR ALL OTHER CATHOLICS, PLEASE KNOW YOUR FAITH, KNOW YOUR THEOLOGY. VIVA PIT SENYOR! #genZCatholic

Hey guys! I really appreciate the genuine no bs thoughts on your experiences here. I myself am not a fan of "Filipino time". Being late a few times for a few minutes is fine especially if ur reasoning is traffic. But the complete lack of regard for time being normalized is really not ok for me. I mean 4 hours with nothing I would've been annoyed myself. The trash on the floor is also not OK. I can understand if you felt disappointed at this. Still I hope you enjoyed Cebu anyways
It started on time, they're at the right venue for the mardi gras but still the wrong place coz it's a little farther on the other side, the crazy face paint happened in the city center

It is totally understandable to might have a different expectation since this is your first time witnessing a festival here in the Philippines. Instead of being an expectator, it is more fun if you had interactions with the dancers and drummers like what I saw in Zoe&Czar vlog. You might have thought that the parade was delayed but it's not. You were at the last route of the parade and knowing that it is street dancing, the dancers need to stop because they are required to dance in every step of the way. No worries, it's still a lot more to come like Dinagyang and Penagbenga. Lots of love and I still enjoy watching your vlogs.
Hi Trifate.. please checkout and come to Iloilo City to see the Dinagyang Festival on January 21 (Kasadyahan, Parade of Lights and Ilomination Competition) and January 22 (main event the Iloilo Dinagyang Competition).. hope you both can make it.. thank you

It started 10 am. Did you went to the main venue? If it starts 3:30 in the afternoon, it will end at midnight. It was not delayed, It started on time. Maybe you just focused on the parade route
your reaction is understandable and all I could say, Im thankful I wasn't there. About the changes, let that be a lesson to the organizers that you should never change anything if nothing's broken.
it's too hot from 10am. then we went back home at 3pm. The Organizer(Local Government) was not well prepared. the street dancing was not well organized. lack of contingents. we decided to get inside the Mall and then went back home.
First on a different venue, it wasn't as festive as it used to be, say 1999-2000. It was packed per usual but the vibes were there and it wasn't as chaotic. 🎉
That festival was good actually! Sinulog wasn’t like 2022 or 2020 it was better that time I recommend you visit Dahilayan In Cagayan de oro I have visited it one time IT WAS SO FUN!. Love from Mindanao 🇵🇭
On your honest thoughts, I agree with, at least upon seeing and corroborating the videos taken by other vloggers who went to Sinulog. For them to charge entry to the festivities (can anyone confirm this?), at least a semblance of orderliness and sticking to the time of the actual parade might have been prudent. Festive, but quite disastrous in terms of organizing the actual place and schedule. The city government could have done it in the city center instead as per tradition.
I’ve watched a lot of TH-cam videos ( live and replay ) from locals, media and foreign vloggers of the sinulog festival. The dancers did their street dancing rituals so many times from morning to night and on stage too. It’s a different vibe at night ‘cause their colors reflected on the lights. Apparently, they started their show down on stage where only paid audience can enter the site and watch then they went to the streets near Nustar hotel and casino. Mergim in his vlog was looking for the stage performance area but didn’t go down to City de Marie. He only stayed outside Nustar hotel and casino. That’s where the street action was held not in SM sea side area. You saw people were coming and going ‘cause the parade was ongoing all day. Some who arrived late in the afternoon were still able to see the whole performances in sporadic periods the same as those who came in the morning. Those people sitting and standing outside the mall were just hanging out or maybe waiting too. Some were having a picnic near the sea wall. People we’re just having a good time esp. when the sun came down.. Food stalls were selling all kinds of food, snacks and drinks. Too bad these two only stayed in SM area but I can understand that they’re confused for there were no clear nor posted information as to direction. They could have been more assertive to find where the action really was instead of waiting and not doing more but at least they saw some dances and floats where they were. You can’t expect the parade to come to you, have to find them but I understand it was confusing and being a foreigner everything was new to them and it’s not like in the US where you can expect better information on line, papers and on site. Also organization is well implemented as well as crowd control, safety and security. However, some dancers and floats rolled down to the SM side but not all since the real action was in City de Marie and Nustar hotel side. All day to night, those contingents from different cities and provinces performed for the spectators ‘till the fireworks display. They must have been exhausted performing all day. Surigao del Norte got 3 million from winning 3 categories. So with other winners 2nd place to 3rd.
Viva Pit Señor Santo Niño. Hey Tyler and Isaac, frackers, Sinulog in Cebu City, the Queen City of the South, very EPIC!... or not. Thanks for your honesty saying you did not enjoy it. Years ago was different, and the vloggers/visitors were so happy. I think it is because of the new venue. The original route was not used.. supposed to be from the Basilica to Osmeña Circle, to the old streets of Cebu City. If you check previous years videos from other vloggers, you will see the difference and excitement before.
10 contingents backed out so the parade felt pretty empty because 10 dance groups is a LOT! I'm from Cebu City and I didnt even bother going out to celebrate. We watched everything live on TV, and got to see the performances better 😃👍 Your reaction towards the event was so funny because I wouldve probably felt the same. PIT SENYOR tho (it's a greeting we say during Sinulog season, you can reply back with 'pit senyor' as well). Hope you come back soon lmaooo.

fyi, 9 contingent participants were withdrawn their intention to join this years sinulog due to lack of preparation in the new venue, mostly some cebuanos prefer the old venue than in srp for some reasons like inaccessibilty of the area, safety of the dancers, bad weather condtion as the ground is very muddy, limited structures to hide from rains nor heat from the sun.
The event started at 9am, it started on the farther part of the SRP road, then it stopped at 12 so everyone can have lunch and it was also so scorching hot to be under the sun, it resumed at around 1, still the same venue, a bit farther out..

Your reactions were understandable, don't worry. I think the Grab got it wrong when they told you people don't do colors anymore because they don't like it anymore. Everyone is probably really as confused as you 😑. You could really have SLEPT through that 6+ hours.

The venue was changed this year.. a week before sinulog there was an argument where the venue is.. Making other contingents to back out. Yeah I agree with you. This year was possibly the worst Sinulog I’ve ever experienced. Everybody was really confused due to the political tension and change of venue.
The Sinulog in the past is very different from the Sinulog 2023 today because of the new venue itself. If you visit like Fuente or Mango Avenue you can feel their the fest where people gets wild, having parties on the streets and have paints everywhere in the faces. sorry to hear you had a bad experience in Cebu, as someone who also considered visiting Sinulog this year, the news of this year's preparations hasn't been great. hopefully you can still have a better experience next time.
Please Come to Iloilo City for Dinagyang Festival this Saturday and Sunday will be the highlights of the event. .

These boys have always been honest in their opinions and that's why most of their viewers love them for it.)
The quicker people accept the valid criticism, the sooner you can figure out what to do better for next year's festival.
You're frustrations are valid. Seven hour delay is just ridiculous. Kudos to both of your patience. I'd be like "fvck this, I'm going home" 😂 Am glad you still had fun though. Thank you for showing us a part of the parade. Hope you have fun in Cebu!

Hey I just watched Mergim Vlogs - the BGC guy - it seemed that he enjoyed it. He got to see the parade and the colors at night too.
True😊
The parade started early like 7:30AM but you just had to find the parade route. You should be in City di Mare because that's one of the parade stations. I was able to watch some vloggers uploading videos in which they went there as early as 10AM and they were dancing and having so much fun (i.e. travelwith_success, making it happen, Zoe&car,, our sweet hideout, mergim vlogs, etc.)
They didn't research the route and now disappointed with Sinulog..
So true.

Nice cover for Sinulog 2023.. Hope this will be improved in the future.

Sinulog has distinct dance steps for the participating contingents but choreographers modify them to be competitive, colorful and impressive.
Being with the big crowd is already fun for many attendees / watchers.

Panagbenga Festival in Baguio! You should see that. And a lot more cooler, becoz it’s Baguio. 🥳
it's too hot from 10am. then we went back home at 3pm. The Organizer(Local Government) was not well prepared. the street dancing was not well organized. lack of contingents. we decided to get inside the Mall and then went back home.
It's bec of the constant rain..
Go to Songkran Festival in Thailand in April you won't regret it. Even Cebuanos/ Visayans enjoying that festival so much.
Nice video and quality 😁🥳🤩
Enjoy Cebu. there's so much to explore!
I'm so laughing two of you how experience visit event like that!😅🤣 nice one for me..😉

fyi, 9 contingent participants were withdrawn their intention to join this years sinulog due to lack of preparation in the new venue, mostly some cebuanos prefer the old venue than in srp for some reasons like inaccessibilty of the area, safety of the dancers, bad weather condtion as the ground is very muddy, limited structures to hide from rains nor heat from the sun.
Yes finally i met you in CEBU your one of my favorite vlogers.thank you so much for attending sinulog fistival trifate
1 thing you should know about Phils, we never follow the schedule 😂
The event started at 9am, it started on the farther part of the SRP road, then it stopped at 12 so everyone can have lunch and it was also so scorching hot to be under the sun, it resumed at around 1, still the same venue, a bit farther out..
Enjoy bro's 😉 and stay healthy ❤and stay safe 😇always watching your videos 📹 😊 😀 watching from Philippines 🇵🇭 😊 ❤
Many people are very disappointed with this year's Sinulog festival. Hope Cebu's local govt and their organizers would learn from this year's fiasco
After the Sinulog festival you can go back to Manila And proceed to Baguio and experience to visit the yearly flower festival known as the Panagbenga festival with a such array of beautiful flock flows parade of flowers, again salamat guys keep safe always and God blessed 👍😃
Mergim killed it in his Sinulog vlog.
That's Mergim though, everyone's experience will be different.
Well, time to go to BAGUIO, Panagbenga Festival (Flower Festival) is coming next month. You won't be disappointed. 😉✌ Anyhow, the Sinulog experience is still a good one.. maybe some things did not work out as you expected but hey, at least you were able to witnessed it! Cheer up!
Your reactions were understandable, don't worry. I think the Grab got it wrong when they told you people don't do colors anymore because they don't like it anymore.
Everyone is probably really as confused as you 😑. You could really have SLEPT through that 6+ hours.
welcome to Cebu guys...head north or south of Cebu to explore more of Cebu...
i wish you boight those hats that can cover yoir face to protect your face..
The venue was changed this year.. a week before sinulog there was an argument where the venue is.. Making other contingents to back out. A lot of people want it the way it was but the Mayor would not listen.
Anyways, the locals have enjoyed the sinulog regardless of the venue. It is about praising the Young Jesus and being with the love ones. Prititiit🎉 Enjoy Vietnam😊
Thank you for blogging our city
Next year, I suggest you guys stay Cebu for even a week so you can witness how the church ⛪️ preparations as well.
What you are able to catch is the City programs or activities only
Most Cebuanos are also very very disappointed with this year's Sinulog. You are not alone. It just sucks that you had this very bad experience. We had a very different sinulog in the past and is very festive and fun. Not like this years Sinulog. As a Cebuano, I am so ashamed with this failure.
someone said in 3:58 "ka gwapo ginoo ko." translates to "so handsome, oh my god." HAHAHAHAHA ana jud ming mga bisaya.
What a disappointment, I feel your pain. Whoever recommended that should feel ashamed. Waste of your time. You two are so honest, no bs👍. I was so bored watching a boring event I kept fast forwarding 😂.
Sinulog is nothing to be ashamed of. You have to consider it's post covid and the change of venue. In other vlogs, most were enjoying the festival. I myself dont like the new venue but it's the 1st time held in that place. Nothing changes the fact that's the most epic and grandest / biggest festival in the country. Perhaps they came in the wrong time? I bet you havent been to sinulog to say it's boring, have you? Only inexperienced would say that. You are 1 out of 100 that Sinulog event is boring. This year may br far from perfect but nothing changes the fact it's the most fun festival in the country.

I agree wth you. He should check the past Sinulog videos before saying that Sinulog is boring, ohmygosh...
You have to consider it's post covid, new venue and been raining the past few days. Just because it didn't turn our well this year doesn't mean it sucks.
That's why is the biggest...
Here are some Sinulog vlogs to check out.. there's a lot more, but just stick to these one..
