      You are absolutely right. It seems that the great Gualtiero Marchesi praised Japanese cuisine very much, regretting how much it was underestimated in the world. The problem is that we probably know a hundredth of what Japanese cuisine can offer us and this is really a shame. I've always thought it was a very healthy, tasty and dietary cuisine and I fell in love with it while reading the book Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto. Huge respect for Japanese food culture

    An advice for when you return to Italy: if you can, avoid all the restaurants located in the main squares and streets of the cities. Often they are here for tourists and offer food that is not of the best quality.
    If you search for locals' favorite restaurants and bars, you'll taste real authentic Italian food (and you won't be disappointed).
    Greetings from Como Lake!

    Hey! dude from rome here, wanted to share some insights about some things you tried in this video!
    First of all, although rome has a lot of tourists every year, this year (if this video was recently recorded) was an exceptional case since we haven't seen these many tourists in a while.
    Secondly, 3,50 euros for a cornetto and 4 euros for a Maritozzo is VERY expensive, usually it's a breakfast food that you can get for 1,50 euros (cornetto) or 2 euros (maritozzo) in basically every Bar outside the centre of rome (Bars are italian cafès).
    Thirdly, the "trapizzino" is not actually THAT typical roman food and it's a fairly new thing, and was basically invented for tourists mostly, and you can't find it very easily outside of popular tourist spots!

    Italian food is not just EXTREMELY good, it's also pretty healthy.
    To be honest, murricans should learn from us
    Edit:
    - 08:27 I want to add, that McDonalds are also criticized by many Italians because it goes against our principle of healthy and good food. McDonald in Italy are considered as the junk food in our culture, even if it tastes good.
    - Also, 09:14; Parmigiano Reggiano is a type of solid cheese we Italians use to grate on our dishes, most commonly on Pasta and Lasagne (but nobody stops you from putting it wherever you want). It drastically improve the dish in many scenarios, especially with pasta (pasta without parmisean would be a crime).

    As a Roman I can tell you that you didn't hit the best places (despite what reviews might tell you - Tonnarello is very touristy even though it's not bad at all). It is your experience though and definitely what an average tourist would experience. Next time try the Amatriciana, Pizza Romana (thin and crispy) and Cornetto with Crema Pasticcera (That pistacchio cream is industrial - kinda like nutella). Also try different gelatos, we are probably comparable to Sicily in terms of gelato quality. We have hundreds of great artisanal gelato shops, just ask locals for advice! Oh and no comment on trying Mcdonalds. What's wrong with you!? :D Jokes aside, I'm glad you showed how bad it is compared to literally any street food. Oh and by the way, there are also amazing Indian, Chinese and African places near Termini Station. There's a huge immigrant community as you've probably seen.

    1. Croissant has no eggs in it unlike cornetto, so, even though the shape is very similar, taste and texture are quite different
    2. Roman pizza is different from neapolitan pizza, which is the standard, the crust should be thicker and fluffy, not that crunchy
    3. Lasagne are usually not covered by that amount of tomato sauce and basil leaves, I guess people from Bologna would not likely appreciate this version.

    So cool that you love italian food and culture!! thank you from a native italian!! also just wanted to point out that at 6:52 that Margherita is not a pizza but a "pinsa" which is pretty similar i know ahah but a pinsa has different water level in the dough and has less yeast so it makes it more easy to digest!! cool right?!

    The beautiful thing about Italian food is that it changes if you go in other regions, like in Sicily or in Milan you will not find a suppli because is like a Rome exclusive, so for you to eat every Italian dish at it’s peak you would have to travel the whole thing xd.

    oh lol I am from Rome, and you made a perfect choice going to "Cave Canem", which is one of the best restaurants in Trastevere zone (one of the best ones), also thanks for praising Rome so much, it definetely has many problems, but I believe is very underrated anyways🙏

    • @matchupitchu7566

      Cavecanem restaurant in trastevere is a quite average restaurant. It was great in the 90es with the old lady cooking in the kitchen. I came back after many years in 2020 and i was very unimpressed. My fave dish Pasta cavecanem was destroyed by the presence of olives in the sauce, suppli were pre freezed and the staff is totally different. Right in front of cave canem there is a historic restaurant that offers the real roman cuisine with the same flavours you could taste 100 years ago.. same thing for bar san callisto (10 meters from there) that sells one of the best gelato around with tastes that you can only dream in other roman bars.

    my brother in christ Roma Termini and stuff in Roma Centro are just baits for tourists. Usually a carbonara costs half of what you bought, and with bigger portions.
    If you want to eat real stuff you need to go inside normal resturants outside the capital, trust me! The best places to go are "agriturismi", true rustic food, sometimes made Km0 with their farm!

  • @valeriaornano9883
    @valeriaornano9883 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Carbonara with parmigiano on top is wrong in my region 😊 guess every region of Italy has different ways of making it.
    Also, the pizza you had there is actually not big as you get when you go to a pizzeria, where they make just pizza and nothing else. Then you get one big round pizza all for you. That was sort of a taste, but that fresh basilico on top was super ❤

  • @TheGuardianXCI

    Felice che il nostro cibo ti sia piaciuto. Noi Italiani possiamo avere tanti difetti, ma la cucina fortunatamente non é tra questi 😁

  • @robertoegosum1501
    @robertoegosum1501 ปีที่แล้ว

    Among the most popular roman dishes there are pasta alla gricia, pasta all'amatriciana (or simply: Amatriciana) and pasta alla carbonara (or simply: Carbonara).
    Lasagna just as tagliatelle, tortellini, agnolotti, bolognese sauce are all from Emilia Romagna region whose headplace's the amazing Bologna.
    The pizza you ordered is supposed to be shared with others (you can see it is not round shaped); we would never eat lasagna along with pizza. If you eat too much, you won't be able to recognize hence apreciate each course and each flavour or ingredient.
    Last: cornetto has the same shape of french croissant but the dough is different. Cornetto (wich we eat for breakfast along with coffe or cappuccino, never with water) must be soft because of its filling, while croissant is crunchy.
