Great Lakes, you have the best instructional videos!! You always provide clear instruction with a lot of detail. Much appreciated!! I didn't know canning applesauce was this straight forward. Now, I think I'm going to give it a shot, too. Thanks, Great Lakes!
Thank you for the informative turtorial and recipe, I am in the process of using your recipe as we speak!! The apples are in the slow cooker as we speak. I decided to us the slow cooker as it's a very simple process and I don't have to be in the kitchen watching it as much and can go about my day doing other chores!! I used 1/2 cup water as with a slow cooker it will steam up a lot more moisture. I also kept the peels on I will just stick blend everything in for a nice smooth apple sauce. I choose your recipe because it didn't call for as much sugar as most do I wanted to reduce the sugar but also didn't want no sugar and I used half white sugar and 1/2 brown sugar. I know i'm a bit complicated that way LOL Once the sauce is cooked I will fill my jars and put them into my hot canner. Once again thanks so much for sharing it is very much appreciated!!
@@GreatLakesPrepping Thank you! That was my concern. I wasn’t sure if the peels would cook down enough to be blended in as to not even know they’re there. I’m making applesauce for the first time this weekend and looking forward to it!
I am making another batch and will go with you recipe this time . It looked perfect. 😊. I want to make apple butter and apple pie jam . Thank you so much for answering me so quickly. I normally use my canner so the hot water bath is new . I am old school so this makes me nervous but it has been years since I have canned.
No . Dehydrated eggs can take to long n get bad while processing. Freeze dry them. Pickle them or waterbath . Also I take muffin cups , put an break egg in each one and freeze then remove and put in freezer bag. They work for scrambled eggs or baking . I have about 100 done in freezer. I also bought lime but need to find chicken person to get un washed eggs to put in w dehydrated lime water.
I liked the color of the applesauce, so, I started to watch. There was an ad immediately after the introduction of the peeler. I don't need a peeler. The ALMIGHTY FATHER gave me 2 peelers, left and right hands👈. I'll see myself out.🚪

I’ve read peels can stay on and wondering if anyone has done that. If so, does it still taste as good? Can you tell peels are in there?
I'm sure the peels can stay on, but I don't personally like the texture of the chewy bits of peel in my applesauce.

How many apples did he use for this batch. It didnt look like 8 to 10 lbs of apples. He did say something about peeling 30 apples.
How many apples did you use for the recipe
I can't recall the exact number of apples, but the recipe calls for 8-10 lbs. Apples can be so many different sizes, it's better to go by weight.
I got my apple sauce a little thin how do i thicken? Will it thicken if i let it cook? I am making it now
Yes, it should thicken if you let it simmer for awhile. Just simmer on very low heat, and be sure to stir frequently so it doesn't risk scalding.
@@GreatLakesPrepping thank you . I did for awhile so it just might ice cream topping😊

Is it safe to dehydrate eggs for long term storage

@@missdebrami6862 thank you, what is dehydrated water ?
@@wadedog4280 i saw that process on a you tube just search for it. I haven’t done it yet because you do need unwashed chicken eggs

It's really quite impressive that you can peel apples with your bare hands!
