  • Elin picks up his newest Rusty Beauty, a 1957 Triumph TR3. We swap the chassis from my 1959 Triumph TR3A before loading the 57 in the trailer. Also on the plus side, the 1973 Triumph TR6 comes home for a visit.

    I owned a '58 TR-3 from 1968 70 1970. It used to always give off a good "bang" when I went over a sharp bump until I was able to replace the missing rear bumperettes. Once I got those bolted on, the 'bang" was eliminated!

      Hi Dennis, well, the one that’s under my car ( the 59) was quite rusty when I first got it…the entire center section of the frame was rotted out. I spent a few weeks fixing this area and doing some extra reinforcements.

    Glad it looks like you’re going to be using your finished cars a bit more this year… hopefully the TR3 project will progress quickly being a simple car that looks to be mostly done as long as you don’t get too obsessive !

    • @cheftush

      I think the most time will be spent at the front of the car trying to get the front apron and bonnet to fit correctly…quite a bit of body work to be done up there as well.

  • @BruceBoschek

    I just noticed that you gave the date of this video as May 18th (I think you said) Assuming that you mean 2023, that means I'm all caught up!. I have been binge watching you and Elin since I stumbled across you guys while tracking down something online. I'm a life long Brit car guy having had a TR3A as my first car and then the usual list of TRs and MGs over my life time. So I guess I'm all caught up as today's date here in Gloucester, MA is May 20th, 2023. You guys are the best! Albert

    Nice exchange and great that they will hit the road again at some point. The 59 frame is in great shape as you worked on it back in the day. The 57 frame looked excellent as well. From my seat it didn'appear to need any MAJOR work.

    Hi Chef. I have come to your site after watching Elin for so long. I join you as you prepare a body swap between 2 TR3s. Just for a bit of history, so that I understand, if both cars are restorable, why are you swapping bodies? Does it devalue them? Thanks

    • @cheftush
      @cheftush  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robert, I’m swapping bodies as I’d already put a significant amount of time restoring the chassis of the 59 although it may not look like it…the 57 body tub is in much better condition than the 59. So, I took the two best parts and put them together. It’s really just time saving for me as I think the metal work on the 59 would have taken me an additional 6 months to complete. As far as value…I don’t do what I do to make money….

      No, I still own your car and TS44836LO. I’m using everything of yours still ( except the body tub). Your body tub wouldn’t have had much original metal left in it as it needed new floors, new trunk floor, new inner sills and new outer sills. Elin is restoring the 57 with all the 57 body parts.
