TESTING the limits of the PENN Fierce 2 live liner 4000

- In this video I match my light setup to a 25lb yellowfin tuna, things get interesting when I'm forced to pedal away from the fish to avoid a submarine. The set up is a Penn fierce live liner 4000 running 30lb yellow power pro braid with a 50ft mono leader. The rod is an ugly stick tiger light 6'9" medium action. I am live baiting a mackerel scad (opleu in Hawaiian), when I get crushed and nearly spooled. It was an incredibly fun fight, and amazing that during the 13 minute fight a shark didn't eat it. I generally run the big brother to this setup with a 6000 size penn fierce and 40lb test.

Great video! That helps make my mind up a little. I've been struggling with deciding on which reel to go with 4 my fly lining in Southern California . overhead conventional, or spinning. Those are some decent fish on 4000 series reel also! Keep up the good work...

I remember the first time I saw this. I was thinking, damn, he's really far out there. I hadn't really seen a lot of video of people so far off shore in open water in a kayak. I'll be honest and say that would make me a bit nervous, being that far off of shore, in a boat so small. You however, make it look like it's nothing......You live in a beautiful place, with wonderful fishing......Jealous I am.
