- 3D6 down the line, and out comes a halfling druid! The Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition character creation series continues with Milo Hillsprig, a stout halfling druid with the outlander background. Watch out! He once killed a bear . . . sort of. :)

"I think we've got a cleric"
Me, reading the "creating a druid" title: oh no
I'm starting my first player in D&D (never played before) and I too am a Druid (more specifically a Tiefling Druid). I thank you for making a video on creating a character! :)
Me too!
I just choose the same for my first character too!
what a coincidence that i find this video after ages of trying to figure out how to do my character- a halfling druid! very convenient, and a great video at that. thanks so much!
Some alternative Cantrips for the Druid - Shillelagh is a bonus action cast that affects a club or staff wielded by the druid, turning it into a weapon that uses the casting stat for attack and damage, and doing 1d8. So your club which would usually be a +1 to hit, doing 1d6-1 would become +5, doing 1d8+3! Produce flame gives a dim light effect that can also be thrown as a ranged spell attack for 1d8 damage, increasing with level like other damaging cantrips. Just some ideas for alternative cantrips.
Oh, wow. Guess I didn't read Shillelagh right. That one sounds amazing! I'd definitely take that. Produce flame sounds good too. Great tips, thanks.
If you ever play this character remember wild shape lets you get the first 3 stats of the beast you are changing into and there hit points as a temporary hit point pool and i believe you can still cast. I know a player that eveyone though was playing a families because he stayed in the form of a mouse 99% of the time casting produce flame and other spells. Another crazy one is think of a Thunder Hawk fling over head and raining down chain lighting
My latest character creation video. Meet Milo Hillsprig, the stout halfing druid.
WASD20 can you make your Druidic focus a basilisk
@DerpyGorillas That doesn't make sense.. Druidic focuses are usually something from nature, like a wooden staff or a wooden carved totem.
It can't be from a living being, especially not from a monstrosity like the Basilisk. xD
I like to use a wooden quarterstaff as a Druidic focus, I like the thought of my good berries growing from the front end of the wooden staff. :3
How do you imagine Good Berries growing from a living being? That's kind of.. creepy, and disgusting if you were to consume them afterwards. lol xD
Should have chosen club or quarterstaff as your primary weapon, then you can cast shillelagh on it to make it more powerful.
Future Nate needs to fight Past Nate.
Yeah. That'll probably happen eventually :)
I cant unsee the non Bolded W in Bear claw....damn you
still a great vid
XD Thanks.
Great vid man.
Something that might help you out in the future. Instead of remembering the actual mods for you ability scores you can use the formula; (Ability -10) / 2 rounded down.
But that involves remembering the formula! :D I have heard that one before, and you're right I should just learn that instead.
i just remember its 10-11 for no mod and then it goes up and down by steps of 2 so 12-13 is plus 1 14-15 plus two etc. and it works the other way as well, 8-9 will be -1 one etc. effectively you have to remember 10-11 = 0 :)
Thanks for the video man!
going to have my first ever character to be a human/druid, thanks for this guidance!
I made a halfling druid with a hermit background all came about with a random dice roll
The trick i rember is it is not good being odd. All even numbers are when it increases modifier
try making a dice tower like some of the ASL users to keep the dice together and "more random"
What a great video keep it up I love ur vids
This was uploaded on my birthday 🎉
Druid is interesting, but would you consider making a Monk creation tutorial? You could even combine it with another video I think you'd do well, creating a monster character. I'm planning a kobold monk once I get used to the game :D
An variant i did was a Rogue outlander he was raise by a Panther
I am finally getting back into D and D after 20+ years. The first character I have rolled was a half-elf ranger with so-so stats. Now I am thinking it would be cool to multi-class as a druid so eventually when I get my ranger pet I can also transform into my wild shape and we can hunt together. Thoughts?
Chris Drews Sounds good! There's definitely some overlap with ranger/druid, but its a multi-class that makes a lot of sense. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of multi-classing for my own characters, but to each his own! Have fun getting back into it!
love your videos, my friends and I recently started playing 5e and I opted to be the GM with my first campaign coming to a close soon I am building a character for myself to play. What program are you using to make your sheet? is it just the sheet in word or something? thanks in advance your videos help me a lot! keep em coming!
For a Druid since he doesn't have a preferred weapon as a bow can I still make him have a bow or should I go to another weapon that he is preferred
As a Brand New Player, is this Video still relevant today as looking to create a Druid Character for first time?
Yes
Is the spell save dc what your opponent needs to roll higher than, to get saved?
Hi, I'm making a gnome druid and I rolled way to high, in order i rolled 10 16 11 17 15 15. Should I bump these down and if so to what?
That's a good problem to have. It's really totally up to you. Sometimes it's nice to have a party with fairly equal ability scores so that no one feels more powerful than others. But hey you did roll for them fair and square and have a right to keep those ability scores. If it were me I would take a look at the standard point array in the players handbook or basic rules and try to bring your scores a little bit closer to that. Though not all the way down there. :)
Would entangle also have the immobilising effect on allies?
Altin wyn Yes it would. Anyone within the spells range would be affected.
No it doesn't get more idiotic why would you roll 3d6 when you can roll 4d6(and take away the lowest one but that's not the point)
Please tell me what inspiration is
What do you use for your character sheet. Where did you get it?
This will help: th-cam.com/video/GiUh-YSxdcI/w-d-xo.html
Why is this 3D6 instead of 4D6 like the other character creations?
No one does 4d6, it's 4d6 drop the lowest. :) Big difference.
But 3d6 down the line is an old school way of doing it, and I did it just for fun.
+WASD20 ah cool thanks thought I may have done my characters wrong for a second
0:14 its so plain then this
How can I get this spreadsheet you're using?
Here's a video I made on how to fill out digital character sheets for D&D 5e: th-cam.com/video/GiUh-YSxdcI/w-d-xo.html
Thanks!
Are you kidding you've never rolled a 17 with 4d6 like Jesus Christ get some charlatins dice😂
What website is this?
Ripash 69 This is a form fillable PDF. You can get them in a download on the Wizards of the Coast site. Just search D&D 5e character sheets.
