Hi, these just came in today but I’m a little disappointed. Spiral cut gears are great but I was expecting the aluminum cups, not the same problematic plastic ones. You guys might want to consider an option to upgrade the cups for an added fee. I know I would have chosen that option.😢
@@leecalhoun6863 hey there - the reason why we don’t put aluminum cups has nothing to do with cost, but has to do with compatibility. Aluminum cups don’t work great in aluminum housings. They are beefier than normal plastic so they will bind if put in an aluminum housing without modifying it. Which was the reason we went with plastic. However, the plastic cups are made of hard plastic, and you shouldn’t have any issues with them breaking and they are also slightly lighter then their aluminum counterparts.

@@leecalhoun6863 sounds good - BTW this set of diffs cost twice as much as their aluminum counterparts. So we put our best setup in them.

I've just ordered 2 of the blue metal cup diffs, but would like to know - what modifications would I need to make to install them inside these alu diff casings ?
Hey - basically the aluminum cupped diffs are beefier then normal stock diffs. They will fit fine in the plastic housing, but since the aluminum housing is a direct fit to stock diffs, you'll noticed that the aluminum cupped diff will bind. In order to get around that, you will need to do two things: Swap out the main diff gear from your stock diff and put them on the aluminum cup (the diff gear on the stock is slightly smaller diameter). Once you do that, test and see if there is any binding. If there is, you may need to grind a bit of material off the main gear. We've had a bunch of customers that did this mod, and works perfectly. But won't work as is, without doing these mods.
