Do you already have, or would you perhaps make a Cobra Racing sticker pack? Doing a full slash build with CR parts and would love to have brand stickers for the body.
Hey there - we have been getting a lot of requests for stickers. We don’t have any at the moment but we are working on it. So please stay tuned 😊
Are these a drop in fit for the rustler 4x4? Also do I need to add diff grease?
@@Portapottypossum they are indeed. They come pre-loaded with grease but we do recommend users to check the grease level, and top off (if needed). More Of a recommendation then a necessity.
@ hey brother I just got these in the mail today I’m a little confused…. There’s no covers on the bottoms of the diffs do I have to buy another part #?
@@CobraRacingRC let me know thanks
@@Portapottypossum diff boxes / housings don’t generally come with a cover for the bottom. You can put them on as is. You can also use duct tape to cover the bottom b4 you install, if dust is a concern (believe that’s what traxxas does on their cars). But there is no bottom for diff boxes (at least not that I am aware of).
@@CobraRacingRC didn’t know if there’s any additional covers for the bottom or nah
Just found this channel and def love cobra racing guys upgrade advice, he seems to know a of knowledge on RC ! ✅
What up upgrade do u have for the rustler ultament
Many - basically all the upgrades for the slash / rustler 4x4 will fit the ultimate as well
So you can’t buy that nice handle on it’s own? That stopped me from purchasing. Was gonna buy the set and an extra handle so I had 2 tools ready at any given time.
@@jarinhuguley7258 thats a good idea actually to sell handles on their own. We may do that down the road 👍
Very cool. Been sitting on the fence about the wide Xmaxx kit. Considering I also have the xrt. But this is a nice in between. A set ordered. Thank you.
A diff sends power to where the wheels spin the easiest, not the other way around. This is why you need locks for offroading. If your rear is spinning, more power goes there, not less. It's also why a center diff will let you hold both front or both rear wheels still, because power will go to the other axle.
A center diff’s job is basically to keep all wheels spinning at the same rate / speed. So if one side is spinning faster, power goes to the other side to keep wheel spin in sync. When you turn, front wheels need to turn faster as outside wheels turn furthest (why thinner oil is better then thicker for handling) so you can lock center diff to keep all wheels turning at the same rate, which would negatively impact your handling (but good For straight runs)
(Good) thermal paste is too expensive to use for this application . Not recommended. Heat sink fan and proper gearing will never let you down
Like $5 a syringe and will last you forever. Best to spend the extra $$$ and do it right. Heatsinks work best with thermal paste.
No, it usually snap on the pin hole and easy wearing in joint and drive cup on my slash with only 3S.
I do have the same upgrades only not aluminum I'm working on my Traxxas slash 4x4 bl-2s ultimate build and you forgot one upgrade tsm 😁👍🏻 for the next up level but I must say the aluminum upgrade parts are looking great 😎👍🏻🙏🏻 I'm going too look into those parts 😁😎👍🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻🇳🇱
The BL-2S has HD suspension and drivetrain components already installed stock. Aluminum parts look awesome, don't get me wrong. I have a 4X4 BL2S Slash and was thinking about the aluminum suspension parts, but aluminum breaks, were as plastic tends to give a little more from impacts. Just something to think about 👍.
I dont normally comment on videos, I have to ask. What makes These "Better" compared to stock, i understand the aluminum housings help with strength and heat but just over double the cost of oem. Newer to the hobby and building/upgrading a 4x4 slash VXL and wanted to ask. Thank you CobraRacing
@@DustinWest-1994 as you mentioned aluminum is tougher. OEM is straight cut teeth for the internals. Ours - the internal gears are spiral cut (helical). Google helical vs straight cut differentials to learn the difference.
@@CobraRacingRC Thank you for the reply, i know the different between the two gears but did not know the oem is straight cut. Thanks again.
You have it for the raptor r 4x4
@@piolinthekillertv2290 the spur will fit. The motor mount will fit (as long as you have the LCG platform). Raptor pretty much sitting on the slash platform. So as long as you have the LCG will fit. Spur will fit regardless. Best
can this fit a slash 4x4 on front and rear?
Yes they will
How u doing and how much is both parts
@@basicfever95davis4 all is well. Thanks. Check the links in the description
@CobraRacingRC yes sir I seen both I'm gonna buy it for the jato 4x4 it should be a great upgrade correct
@ it is a great upgrade. Just double check that they will fit the Jato. If it’s the same part as the slash or rustler 4x4 then they will fit.
This will work good at a motor you showed, but not on one with integrated cooling fins, like most Hobbywing.
Rad, I will have to get a new fan soon✌️
Thank you for all of your great information videos...👍👍👍🏁🏁🏁🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
@@willisluckey4328 welcome and thanks for watching 😊
Awesome advice. Nice 👍🏾💯🔥
Awesome stuff can't to see them in action and i wonder if those turnbuckles would fit an XO-1 cause i might be interested in a set for my car.
Cool, I bought a pair of your slash 4x4 aluminum diffs for my XO-1 project earlier this month and i like them can't install them yet but so far they look and feel great quality. I might buy these aluminum arms for my XO-1 next since my car is still on the old brittle stock arms and i'm between these aluminum arms or the Traxxas HD arms.
No I need 5 mm axle thread my ground pounder axle thread are 5 mm not 4 mm like others
@@cowboy21745 all you need is the 12mm hex. Doesn’t matter axle size. If you’re running 12mm hex these will fit.
I need d 5 mm then do you have them
No these are 6mm offset
You need some orange diff covers
How much
@@Chuck-tl6no we’ll find out in the next 3-4 weeks when the product is released. Will make a video on it and should be available on our site by then as well.
Those look nice✌️
Awesome
The fact that we can see the shock piston become air bound about a quarter inch from bottoming out proves the commenter's from the previous video right beyond the shadow of a doubt. The laws of physics also tell me the vehicle you put those shocks on has a bad tendency to pogo stick after big jumps and on rough terrain, i know from experience exactly how any vehicle will handle with shocks set up that way and learned through trial and error that it is objectively wrong. That seal blows out from under the cap upon hard landings when the shocks have air on both sides of the badder. Also you can tell that at least there is less air on the wrong side of the bladder by how much slower the shock piston extends after compression in this video vs the previous one. I'm only say this because I learned the hard way that this doesn't work well or last long, if you want to find out the hard way too at least we can both say we share this experience, i hope you learn from it too.
Subbed , I started rc a year ago with a kraton , built one. Turned to speed runs built a few. So now I just moved to a city so I bought a losi mini b to race on carpet and I’m realizing I don’t truly know much about …. Well much lol (shocks , etc)
Ya always something new to learn. It's my favorite part of the hobby. Thanks for the support ❤
The oil inside the shock is to control the harmonics of the spring.
Love the company
👊
I think its a personal preference when it comes to setting up shocks and suspensions. I see people using and doing all kinds of different things with their set ups when we go out crawling on the trails, bashing at the parks and in the pits at the tracks. I have determined that there really is no right or wrong way of doing it, just try it all and do what works for you✌️
Absolutely! Everybody has their thing that works for them. No one size fit all 😀
@CobraRacingRC you have great videos, I enjoy watching and trying new ideas. Your idea topping off the shock fluid with diff fluid works pretty slick on my slash✌️ probably won't try it on my crawler because I have desert lizards dialed a little slower for that so they unload slower to avoid roll overs.
The amount of rebound you would want all depends on vehicle, set up and track conditions if I’m correct hint why there’s different shock spring ratios and shock oil thicknesses then again I am not a expert and I know that there’s a lot of tips and tricks that professionals don’t tell like I’ve seen some that put shocks upside down. And I for one enjoy your videos
For sure...lots of tips / tricks out there to get the setup you want. Of course you can go and get different springs, or maybe a higher weight oil in general. But this is more of a "hack" for those that don't want to buy new springs and they already have some diff oil somewhere in their cabinet. It gives you basically a similar result as new springs.
See part 2 follow up video here: th-cam.com/video/Qyk5WKJOLT0/w-d-xo.html
Pretty sure the rebound is from not bleeding your shock. All that air and pressure inside is causing the rebound. Thicker fluid just makes the piston move slower. Just do it right and buy heavier springs if you want this affect
Rebound??.. sorry not the best!!. Our's, debound setup is far better!🎉
Mix 50wt shock oil with gear oil that's equivalent to 2,000wt?😵💫Nobody should do this, not even bashers and especially not racers.
hou to pot on car
If I wanna put these in my rustler 4x4 do I need any other parts? Having trouble with the rear do I need to get metal spider gears? Looking for help lol
@@Portapottypossum no this is the complete differential. So only thing you need. Would recommend you open it up though and top it off with grease, or use diff fluid.
the mind of a traxxas basher😂 good way to make your shocks leak
Wtf does traxxas have to do with anything? Stupid hate for the sake of hating. I've never seen anyone do this to shocks, regardless of what brand shocks..
Great review 👍
Most racers goal is little or no rebound but if thats what you want, your way is much less consistent and repeatable than tuning with pistons, oil and springs.
Yup . Crazy as promised.
A correct assembly of the shocks where you bleed them out properly will never provide the "rebound" you speak of 😅 does not matter what wt oil you mix. This is just a video of an unproper shock bleed assembly 😂
A arms need to be plastic to bend and flex on these model rc cars. Hit it hard enough on aluminum the aluminum will bend or break ur next plastic weakest link.... that's why in modern vehicle have crumble zones and break point when in accident.
Misconception for the most part (for me personally). When bashing, your shocks are responsible for dampening the impact (they go up and down as you hit your jumps). So arms move with the shocks. Only time plastic is better than aluminum is if you hit something head on (like a wall). No bend or flex means you’ll probably crack your chassis or something else). But if you can avoid head on hits you’ll be fine. Aluminum arms are also suited for on-road and on the track (from personal experience). Strictly my opinion, and I respect yours 👍
Yeah you can get that exact rebound from not bleeding the air out of the shick that's all that is is air on top of the oil because he didn't compress the shock pushing the air out then tightening the cap there's a rubber bladder in that cap that expands and that were you get rebound
@@GreyCrossfield-ts3xn i did bleed it out off camera. Cut for speed. Rebound is coming from the thick mixture. But you are correct if you have air trapped in without bleeding you’ll get some rebound. But just a little bit.
hou to set it in the car
I guess that could be a separate video. Not really hard to do though - just got to take out old diff box and swap with this one. You can reference Traxxas’s exploded view diagram to help you out, or youtube it 😀
Man...I watched this video, this is a rad trick✌️ then went to just check out your website to see what you have.....ended up ordering shocks I don't need shocks but the green look nice... I need to learn to stop looking...haha
Thanks for watching 🙏
No offense ,but …Nobody bashing wants their shocks doing that. Thats why bleeders/emulsion setups is preferable. To make getting rid of that rebound on compression. Maybe for racing ,yeah. Idk ,cuz i don’t race . But that “HACK” of yours is what most old school bashers consider as a fail. Lol. Thinner oil will give you that rebound . Btw. I’m probably your age or older.
@@Chon-c no offense taken. Think I mentioned in the video that softer springs is better for bashing. So yes you are correct, tighter shocks is more for on-road, or for the track, then for hard bashing. Or stiffer in the rear and soft in the front will also work for bashing. Mostly user preference.
@ Not softer springs is. Harder is better for bashing . But you mainly also want to have ZERO REBOUND FROM THE REBOUND IN THE SHOCKS . It’s easy to get that rebound like you got in the vid . Just put oil in it and twist the cap on without letting the oil out gas the oxygen bubbles that is under the piston because it’s drawn down to refill & needs to set for the oil to soak through the holes or around the piston itself (depending on cst thickness on how bad that happens. The Thicker it is ,the more air you’ll have in the bottom because it takes time to soak around & through the piston holes ) ,or put a lot of air in them by shaking the oil bottle before you add it in the shock & then not letting them set and bubble up to release & then throw out the diaphragm bulb in the cap if you really want it to bounce as if it has a spring inside the shock. Which you also can do too if ya want . Lol. A spring inside. But limits travel. But zero rebound stops or heavily limits bounce when landing. Which in turn means not turning over as much but also keeping wheels on the ground . Because you want the piston to resist the same or almost the same amount both ways from the very beginning of rebound .
Thanks . I guess there’s no wrong way to do shocks in that having the rebound push out or not at all or just a little . I like the rebound way making sure it fully compresses . Thanks for the diff oil tip . I’ve used Lucas engine treatment in 3s Arrma shocks with success . Chain saw bar oil is very thick too . I use 70-90 wt in my big jumpers with M2c pistons seems to alleviate that big bounce after landing to a little hop or a perfect stick many times . Especially landing on a slope . It’s fun to mess with the shocks and tires and feel the difference . Sometimes it’s a huge change , sometimes it’s not 😂. It’s always fun though . Happy holidays 🐍
Ya more then one way to do it for sure - this is usually the easiest for me though cuz I always have diff fluid on me, and it allows me to really dial in the stiffness just right depending on how I am planning on driving the car. Thanks for watching 😊
I bought a set of these and can't get them to fit with the knuckle set you guys have for the slash 4x4
