Sometimes the BIS/BISx functionality can be activated in a normal patient monitor like the Spacelabs UltraView SL (shown in 2:51), Mindray Benevision, GE Carescape or Philips IntelliVue (module shown in 2:55) using plug-in modules. Older BIS cable sets use a DSP, while BISx use a LOC unit.
I like your presentation style. Including your judgement what things are noteworthy while keeping a good pace. I'm a layman to hospital care. But I would be interested if it happens that a doctor is looking at the BIS monitor while having a syringe of medicine and using the BIS information to judge how much of the medicine to apply?
My first series is going to be the bare basics on many things patient monitoring, electronics and the career field in general. Later videos will cover more specifics. I need to gain an audience before I can deliver the real nerdy stuff.
@@BetterBiomedChannel Its a great channel and I applaud your efforts. Being a Biomed is more than a job, its a vocation and can be very rewarding as a career, especially when Biomeds avail themselves of continuing education.
@@Gpacharlie Thanks for the support Chuck. I'm hoping to incorporate more of the knowledge of the viewers into some of these videos. I myself have more questions than answers and as my viewership increases, I'm hoping to leave some open ended questions in videos in hopes of getting professional responses from those in the know.
currently doing a medical engineering apprenticeship, so these sorts of videos are a fantastic resource.

Hey Justin you think you could do a short video on how the air in line sensor works on the Alaris pumps whenever you have the time?
Sure thing.
Awesome video 👍
More videos please ♥️
Hi. What's the difference between Entropy monitoring and BIS monitoring
Almost the same thing.
What is the etymology of this?
Excellent!!!
Have you done a video on validated test simulators and phantoms?

Love the intro
But I haven't seen this device being used during my work experience
BOLTR a cable so we can reverse engineer/ rebuild it.
I would love to see what's inside the LOC module
