    How do you measure the leakage current of the ceiling lamp?

      Do you mean current that is induced into other conductors? All induced currents should go to ground. I guess I don't completely understand the question.

      @@BetterBiomedChannel I'm sorry, I mean to leakage current of scialytic lamp that is within patient vicinity. It should comply with 10.2.5.
      10.2.5 Leakage Current - Fixed Equipment. The leakage current flowing through the ground conductor of the power supply connection to ground of permanently wired appliances installed in Category 1 or Category 2 spaces shall not exceed 10.0 mA (ac or dc) with all grounds lifted.

      Gabriel, do you ever receive something for free and then complain about what you received? This was from YEARS ago. One of my first videos. Had you refrained from the criticism and simply asked what devices I'm using, I'd be more inclined to answer.

    Would you normally have to record the data for all the devices and what the leakage current levels were, along with the ground resistance measurement or would you consider that a pass just based on visually seeing that the values were within the acceptable ranges?

      Most places require a pass / fail result on electrical safeties. It's up to the technician to know the latest NFPA regulation and leakage values.

    @Better Biomed Channel, I didn't pick this up in the video, but is there a hard and fast limit to the Earth ground resistance? I saw the 0.15mOhm tester point, but is there a hard limit to this as there is for the leakage currents 100/500microA for lift/chassis respectively?
    I apologize as I am unfamiliar with this device/limitations for patient care.

      There is an updated 2021 NFPA99 with different limits

      All electrical equipment needs checked yearly. Some every 6 months

    Just a comment, your electrical safety analyzer is plug in on a emergency red (Line isolation outlet) in the OR. Wouldn't your chassis leakage reading will be low. In comparison to being plug into regular standard outlet?

      No. The chassis leakage is measuring a difference in potential between the chassis and ground (where the analyzer is plugged in) - since the chassis should have a 0V potential (if properly grounded). Ground is ground regardless of isolated power or regular (emergency or non-emergency outlets)

      Is the red outlet in your OR is
      Connected to the LIM monitor. If yes, then those outlet has floating ground since the ground and neutral are connected on the primary side of LIM transformer only And on the secondary the ground is not connected. Therefore isolating the device. Usually I noticed if I conduct electrical Safety test inside the OR room I get a lower chassis leakage in comparison to the white outlet outside the OR room. I’m just curious how’s the OR are setup in USA.

      Your are right Dennis, according to NFPA 99-2018:
      10.3.3.3* Techniques of Measurement. The test shall not be made on the isolated power system or separable isolation transformer.
      A.10.3.3.3 This test is not valid when performed on the load side of an isolated power system, because the values obtained will be falsely low

      @@denniss4455 Correct, so he is doing the correct EST unless they are using the OR devices outside the OR. which he would then check with that outlet
