@@mattm1841 this! Skatepark durability tests are a waste of time and not a good indicator as to how good an RC car is. So many factors to consider.. landing on concrete and blaming the car is not the way to do it and is one way to ruin a brands reputation forever. Those videos get views which is why they are done and no other reason. I stopped all that last year and won’t be returning to a skatepark any time soon. Obviously people know who to watch if that’s what they are into and I think it’s more appealing to the younger generation. Doesn’t teach kids to respect their stuff either when potentially parents have spent a fortune on the latest rc car just to be smashed to bits 5 mins into a bash at a skatepark. Anyway.. each to their own haha!
You know it actually reminds me of my old maverick vader xb (redcat rampage xbe) that was also a buggy that was on the small side of 5th (closer to 6th) it was also 6s and was similarly quick. Full metal chassis and metal upper plate. Slightly different design but i like the direction.
It will be interesting to take it out in warm weather. I think it would definitely need a gear change to reach the high speed, It's always cool to see how the tires balloon on the onboard camera shots. You might've mentioned this in the first video. I wondered where the name comes from. According to Google it's of Japanese origin. It means "swift like a wind" and is a girl's name.
My friend saul from rc crazy loves his so far but also bent the shock tower on a bad landing that wasnt really that bad, the only thing he had an issue with, hopefully there will be a decent upgrade soon
Hot water bottle in the lipo bag really helps. Got to say though, I was smashing around my 6s-ed Typhon 3s around the other weekend and it seemed like it took far worse abuse from my crappy driving than that Asuga did in your other vid.
You can tell corally has done some testing before they released this thing. What blows my mind is that its around 660euro. I mean for that price you can get a kraton 6s which doesn’t even have machined shocktowers. And also the chassis design is really innovative. I think that it might even come close to a m2c chassis. I hope arrma takes note.
Video idea: See how much you could beat the speeds on the box with only gearing. Just keep gearing up until the ESC cuts, but keep everything else RTR. I think this would be a good car for it because the ESC is supposed to be pretty stout.
@@grahamjacob710 he had to fit a spool to get near those speeds - just doing pinion you are limited. I have a 22 tooth on one of my corally's and dont think it would take a lot more.
2:10 temp definitely makes a difference. The air is denser at colder temps which creates more wind resistance. In internal combustion engines it kind of negates itself as the denser air = more resistance it also means more HP and better performance out of the engine.
To me without delving intro he tech specs too deeply. It seems to be a Kronos XTR with Buggy Tyres, and a bigger body shell & The Kuron 825 rtr gear installed
@ Tomley - Given that this buggy is a full 680g lighter than the Kronos XTR, it's safe to assume that given the same electronics, battery and ratios/rollout etc - it will accelerate quicker and hit higher top speeds than the Kronos. Using the exact setup you have there on my Kronos XTR - 825 motor on 6S - mine hit 62 mph and 0-60mph in 4.2 secs. This was during the summer and the track temp was 30°C, using stock pinion and spur. I conclude that Corally's box claim is definitely in the ballpark and fair. The reasons they state for different results are justified, as your effort amply demonstrates! Your results were on the slow side of normal though. Are you sure those cells are OK? Or is your ESC set to low or something? 🤔 Very odd otherwise. Love your channel and your videos - keep up the great work. 👍

Conclusion: the gearing is the same as the Kronos and it's near enough 700 grams lighter. Given the same electronics - it has to be faster. Either your motor is cooked, your batteries have lost their punch, or your ESC is on a low punch or something? 🤔
Did you install the speed gear? If not, why would you say it can't do 65 mph+? I have one that's been in the box for almost 2 weeks..but if they advertise the speeds and it won't do it, I understand. But if you decided to "not install" the speed gear but then state you don't think it will do it, it's like why..Why criticize TC when you didn't follow instructions. Thx for the video.

I find it unfair for everyone to bash on speed claims when every battery gives different performance so unless you have a speed run battery then you can’t say it doesn’t do the claimed speeds on the box because you’re using a generic battery not up the task. A high performance battery heated up or just on a warm day would get very close to 60
Yes, it would get very close to 60... however, that's still 5mph of the box speed. And this 6s Lipos] I used on my FTX DR8 which claims 60mph on the box.. I got 57mph in the winter, and 61mph in the Summer.. so the 6s is a capable lipo

I’ve used 8000mah battery’s and then 15000mah same brand and gained 7km and they were just zeee. 7km from a bigger battery and 4km from a warmer day is pretty close to their claim. I’m not saying you’re wrong with company’s putting the in correct claimed speeds on the box as it is annoying and should not be done but unless you are claiming you tested it with the best possible battery then you can’t claim their claims are wrong haha the battery is the missing piece to complete the speed.
To me the speed on the box should be what's possible on the gearing provided or at least say with optional pinion included. The Arrma Boost is pretty bad it says 30mph on the front of the box, I have to tell customers all the time it's with a lipo battery and geared up a lot

Both your batteries are 50C you need a better discharge battery to get more poke. It is not all about voltage. Sustained Amp discharge makes a huge different. Or get some HV batteries.
The 6s Voltz 4800mAh 50c Lipo on paper can deliver 240Amps.. The Kuron Motor has a max continuous current of 120A, so the Voltz lipo would have to be only 50% efficient to max out the motor. I've also used that same Lipo in my FTX DR8 and it pushes it passed it's box speed.... so it's a decent lipo. It has probably only had about 10 cycles.
Not really, too many ppl are so wrapped up in "top speed" which you will never achieve when using it off road which it is designed to do. When you gear it up, you also modify it's use off road......

love the pragmatic review. but I do agree. don't put speed on the box unless when you take out of the box it comes close to that speed under certain conditions. i.e will do x amount of speed in the temp range of 5 degrees on a dry tarmac. otherwise it leave the door wide open for those who want to blame the equipment rather the conditions is driven in and driving skills + battery efficiencies.

Considering how nuts the Kronos XTR is with the same gearing and electronics I'm surprised it's only getting 88kph, well go all out, biggest pinion you can fit with stock everything is 19t, see what that gets😆🤘 I'll have to speed test mine with the low 1550kv motor and 18t pinion, see if it gets close to box speed🤔
They should put 50mph on the box then when it does 55 you are over performing. Like Scotty telling Kirk it will take 4hrs to repair the warp engines and does ti in 3
I don't get the point of 6s rc cars. My Big Rock does that top speed. Albeit I have put a 17 tooth pinion in it but that's on 3s. It takes absolute beating to especially with a few cheap upgrades like rpm arms. Also a lot cheaper to buy and run than 6s.

I blame Traxxas roll the speed claims and all the RCs nowadays. Why cuz they were the first to quote Traxxas the fastest name in RC and guess what other vehicles were faster
Now imagine the issue when actual car manufacturers make false and inflated claims about the performance of their vehicles? (see Dodge Demon. To get their claims it has to be at x temp, with slicks, and on a prepped strip, at x sea level with x driver and blah blah blah)
Yes… this Porsche will do 210mph…. but you need the optional gearbox and race fuel… and a driver that weighs under 200lb. I think that Dodge didn’t even do it with all the boxes ticked lol

I think it was in the hinduism, there are some kind of spirits or so called Asura, but i think it has nothing to do with that.

Cold air is more dense. Meaning more resistance. I play disc golf and can throw further in summer than in winter due to this effect.

The corally motor mount doesnt allow you to go too mad with the gearing unfortunately
Raz shiffrin did it with the radix 6s and got into the 90's

Lipo batteries perform better when warm too giving more speed
will make virtually no difference to rc cars sub 100mph with tiny frontal area.Temp affect the battery granted.

Adding a small SPOILER makes a difference so atmospheric pressure sure will.

Yes, although Kronos wheels are bigger and balloon more.. so will effectively increase your final gear ratio
@@TomleyRC I used JetKo belted slicks which are ever so slightly smaller than the stock tyres, which if anything would lower the gearing/rollout. 👍

Take yours out the box and tell me where the ‘speed gears’ are. You may be disappointed to find that it doesn’t come with any other gearing 👍

I figured it would be a bit slower as it's got the same power system as the Python XP/Radix6 and it's got quite a bit more heft to it.

I don't get the point of 6s rc cars. My Big Rock does that top speed. Albeit I have put a 17 tooth pinion in it but that's on 3s. It takes absolute beating to especially with a few cheap upgrades like rpm arms. Also a lot cheaper to buy and run than 6s.
Bigger motors with a lower KV… so increased torque. And because they are a lower KV they need more Voltage to get the RPM’s
@@TomleyRC I see that. But in reality what's the real point of 6s? They are not any faster or tougher. They cost more to buy and cost more to maintain. Kinda reminds me of a Swiss watch vs a quartz. They don't tell the time any better and cost more to buy and service. Is it just kudos and likes?

Speed isn't what they claim? Oh, my, the end of the world...lol...jk. Seriously, I didn't expect it to reach what they claim (out of the box). At least, when Traxxas prints (unbelievable) "top speed" info, they include a "when fitted with the 'speed' pinion".

I blame Traxxas roll the speed claims and all the RCs nowadays. Why cuz they were the first to quote Traxxas the fastest name in RC and guess what other vehicles were faster

Now imagine the issue when actual car manufacturers make false and inflated claims about the performance of their vehicles? (see Dodge Demon. To get their claims it has to be at x temp, with slicks, and on a prepped strip, at x sea level with x driver and blah blah blah)
Yes… this Porsche will do 210mph…. but you need the optional gearbox and race fuel… and a driver that weighs under 200lb. I think that Dodge didn’t even do it with all the boxes ticked lol

One thing I gotta hand it to tesla: the plaid DOES do 0 -60 in 3 seconds and anyone can do it, 1 or 2 ppl in the car. Only prob it used 30% of the charge to do it lol
