Next set will be fun because it gives us the card that birthed one of my personal favorite decks that I never had the chance to play, Demise OTK. Six Samurai's also came out in the next set.
Cyber shafow gardna resets itself so it doesn't stay but it is really good in trap monsters as it continuously triggers statue of anguish pattern every turn.

I like Trap Monsters. They're pretty cool. Of course taking up a slot in your backrow as well as one in your monster zone is inefficient, but they can always be used as materials for tribute/ritual/fusion/synchro/xyz/link summoning.
Better example. You activate pankratops to destroy your opponents hextia. Your opponent chains manifestation targeting multifaker. Chains silquetous bouncing protocol to bounce out pankratops. You chain vainty's call and negate and destroy all of them thangs.
Once links became popular, ygopro percy servers weren't maintained and became riddled with bugs, one of which was that traps couldn't leave the main monster zone except by battle and another being that Cyber Shield Gardna gained 900,000+ attack while battling. The checkmate server devolved to decks with Cyber Shield Gardna, ways to search Cyber Shield Gardna (Cyber Dragon Core, draw engines), ways to counter Cyber Shield Gardna (Dimension Wall, quickplay s/t removal, Jinzo), ways to counter those counters (dark bribe, Jinzo again), and alternate win conditions (Final Countdown, burn) in case a Cyber Shield Gardna or Abyss Stungray stalemate occurred. Although it was wholly degenerate, it was kind of fun in that like other tier 0 formats you can build your deck and make plays to specifically counter one strategy. Btw extra deck mechanics didn't work and Malefics could just be summoned without destroying themselves among many, many other bugs.
They are great mats. I go to the same locals as the owner, but I've yet to buy one. He did let me borrow one when I forgot mine last year at a regionals
Because Snipe Hunter doesn't guarantee destruction, it also bypasses things like Stardust and My Body As A Shield, because they can't negate something that might not destroy. It's also not even soft OPT, though in most decks the discard hurts too much to try to nuke a board just from Sniping them.
Slash Kub Snipe Hunter actually saw competitive play believe it or not, and the card was just as much of a gamble for the opponent as it was for you. They had to decide if they want to negate it before the coin toss, if they didn’t want to risk you getting lucky. It doesn’t even have a traditionally negative effect either unlike other gamble cards, you just paid the discard cost for nothing is all. EDIT: and like you said, he’s not even OPT so you can keep trying if you’re really feeling lucky
Cyberdark Impact is one of those sets, which aged incredibly well. It was one of the worst sets, when it came out. But many of it's cards, which weren't used that much during that time, got relevant way later. Instant fusion started to be one of the best spell cards in the game with the introduction of Synchros. XYZ made it even stronger. And till this day, it never lost it's relevance. In todays standard CD Impact is far from being the worst set in yu-gi-oh. I would even put it in the upper half, if I would rank every yu-gi-oh set.
