Update: Before making this video I had a few people tell me fences couldn't be built across streams since the Oxbow update. But now that I have the game on steam (was playing on Xbox before) and tried it for myself I can confirm it does still work. Not that building your own bridges is that important anymore, since MD has also recently implemented buildable bridge templates!
Unfortunately no or rather not really. The game isn't coded for villagers to path find like that. They only follow the default roads built into the map, and don't recognize the bridge. I even read on the Steam forums somewhere before that is the reason the devs haven't ever included buildable template bridges like with buildings and stuff. I made a road from my village to the mine and the miners won't take it they just follow the roads that preexisted on the map. One thing I've seen that people do is build fences on either side to kind of funnel them towards it, since they won't jump the fence they will end up crossing it that way, but you kind of have to not give them any other way around for them to use it. I don't like the look of doing that for where my bridges are so I just made them for myself and just decoration really.

The most important part isn’t explained. How did you scoot the boards together? I know how to drop an item but how to pick it up and place it? I am playing on a keyboard, no controller.
@@KoolKitty917 Sorry about that! I should of went over that in more detail. Im not too familar with the game on PC but I did get it recently on Steam. When I get home tonight Ill give it a go and get back to ya. But I think the button to pick items up is E? You might have to hold it or then hold left mouse button to keep it in the air. Then you can walk around with it and buttons should then be listed in the corner of the screen to rotate held items.
@@RoboCharged I will give it a try tomorrow. That darn fishing hut doesn’t meet the shore. Just getting some planks to fit close together would help a lot. Oxbow now has bridges and piers but they are huge! So, I need to find a solution. Thank for responding
Thats a good idea! That always bugged me about the fishing huts as well. Yeah not long after I made this video they finally came out with bridges haha. No problem Ill figure it out on keyboard tonight and let ya know!

Other than making this video I haven't really played MD since finishing my village on console over a year ago! So the Oxbow will almost feel like a new game for me haha! As promised I just did a quick check on how to pick up items with mouse and keyboard. So when looking at an object you just press and hold the E key to pick it up or grab it. You can then walk around with it and move the mouse around to raise or lower it while still holding E. And if you also hold down the left mouse button it will allow you to rotate things around with the mouse. When you are ready to place it just release E. Hopefully that helps!
When you bring up the wheel menu there should be a Platforms option right above the Buildings one. Once you go to that different types of bridges can be unlocked and built.
