Fun fact: "Scourge of The Universe" is heavily based on an old remix DM DOKURO made of the song "Last Battle" from the game Cave Story! That remix was used as a placeholder song for the Boss fight before DM DOKURO was brought on to make the music for the Calamity Mod.
Hi, obligatory explanation time: Type W/S/C - it does ntoe which of the servants the meldy is for! the servants of the scourge are 3 bosses you are meant (you technically dont have to in recent versions, though) to fight before the deavourer of gods itself, the 3 obviously serve him, the letter is jsut the first letter of the boss' name - W is (storm) weaver - the smaller worm suspected to be the same species as the devourer, S is Signus (envoy of the devourer) - cloaked guy, and V is (Ceasless) Void - the round thing that is a sort of portal to the devourers world (iirc). As for type D, ia m pretty sure this is the case: Its type D for "devourer", it doesnt really play in game, i dotn think it ever did, its somethign *just* for the nonstop mix iirc, even though it could fit in an old version of the mod as the 3 also used to show up during the main fight with the devourer (being weakened versions, but still) as well iirc, but thats since been removed, so the middle section of the servants isnt really what happens - you go straight from Scourge of the universe to universal collapse normally. I am not sure abt the bells beyond it being one of the main motifs of calamity, iirc there isnt *really* anything lore related to them specifically, evne if the mod is mostly about "fight a god" (in short adn very condensed lol). THo it has beena while since i read the lore sooo yeah.
the "Calamity Bells" are are reacurring motif in the calamity soundtrack that represents either gods or godlike power. If a boss theme has bells, then that boss is on the same level if not higher than divinity
4:42 Calamity has insane lore. If you have an hour of time to kill, id go to the calamity mod wiki and just read the lore of the different bosses and stuff For example, the cloak guy, signus is an assasin and one of the devourer of gods’ sentinels
In the game universe, the gods in question that were being devoured committed genocide against powerful dragons to steal their powers. I think those bells are a reference to the gods and dragons alike.
I would like to shout out other composers who makes music for the Calamity mod aswell, like CDMusic and PinpinNeon, I recommend you react to Catastrophic Fabrications from PinpinNeon, its an awsome song! And Nuclear Monsoon aswell from them. Looking forward to it!
after listening to the calamity ost you should listen to "twisted garden" aswell! its the theme for the final boss of a fanmade addon to the calamity mod called "wrath of the gods".
Man's really listening to these in reverse order I'd suggest "Toxic Wisdom" (Old Duke) next (this was DM DOKURO's last Calamity theme before leaving). After that, I'd suggest "Feral Amalgamation" (Polterghast)
You should check out some tracks from the Risk of Rain series if you like synth tracks. Coalescence, Con lentitud poderosa, The raindrop that fell to the sky, and Om Mani Padme Hum part 1 are my personal favorites.
I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world. Meet Diana Ankudinova! Diana has the title - Queen of Goosebumps. Challenge yourself, can you resist the charm of her voice? There are too many things to say. From lore, to references, to answers, to recommendations, so I'll pick one. The bells are a staple of Calamity OST. There's more nuance to their meaning, but I'll say they represent power and Calamity. Keep an ear out.
"I don't know how deep they go with the lore"
Oh boy.

DM DOKURO isn't the only person who makes calamity music, there is also CDMusic who made the Boss Rush Themes that are also really good
Especially boss rush stage four which came out recently, that was a BANGER!
ENWAY, PinpinNeon and Heart Plus Up are also really good
There's also Heart Plus Up who makes BANGERS
@@CheeseDog37 I love Enway. 'Calamity Mod Extra Music' is super underrated imo.
Universal collapse is one of the best in the whole OST, tbh. After all... _A god does not fear death._

i think its as simple as an omagge to the bells of calamity , they play in unfiltered unrefined calamity too i belive
I believe the developers have stated that the bells represent Yharims influence on the world.
That soft guitar is just perfect

Honestly, I recommend the lore document even more, though it’s GIGANTIC.
@thatrandomguy3638 Where can i find it? In the wiki too?
Hey man. I saw a few people recommend it but I highly recommend Twisted Garden as well. Its a fever dream you don’t want to miss.

YAY, hopefully you do Twisted Garten which is another boss song.
He already did do stained brutal calamity
@ He did? I didn’t even notice, my bad
@ thank you

I suggest you to listen (antarctic reinforcement, unholy insurgency, and threaths of the ocean floor) they're my favs
If you find the time and have an interest, a listen to the full calamity soundtrack could be awesome, there’s so many amazing tracks on there
considering time of the year, I think it would be appropriate to react to Frost Moon from Terraria ost (not a mod)
hey grim, the discord link isnt working! also amazing reaction
Thanks for letting me know! I have no idea why it expired again but it's fixed now :D

Thanks for the great response! Diana is a fantastic vocalist!
