For many of us turning our passion/hobby/pass time into a job would seem like heaven, but for people that have taken that bold step, the reality can be significantly different. As a retiree, much of my entertainment is centred around watching golf-related content on YT (particularly during the long winter months). But I can imagine that producing watchable content that others would want to watch & enjoy would be just as stressful as a "normal" occupation. So please carry on doing what you are doing Andy and I hope that you enjoy producing your videos as much as I enjoy watching them.
Been using the Mezz 1 for a few weeks now and the roll is the best I have had and I have used a few putters in my time, this despite current winter conditions and general green conditions. Inside 10ft its awesome and distance control is on point. Really glad I pulled the trigger when I did. Lets hope things continue in such a positive way.
Andy, that what the Average Golfer is all about, you get to be the guinea pig for the rest of us to give us your final verdict on the clubs you test and what to expect or not expect from the clubs you test, an honest opinion that goes all to the masses who are like you an Average Golfer.
I think you've nailed down the LAB putter perfectly. And i think you should probably give Rick Shiels some pointers. That guy tried out a LAB putter a year or two ago, made almost everything he looked at, and in closing said he couldn't bag it because of its looks. Now he does a "Break 75" series, and his putting is absolutely atrocious. His pace control is horrid.
Great video. I’ve been using a LAB Golf DF 2.1 for the past six months as my putting was really struggling and after some research and watching a few youtube reviews decided to give it a chance. Best money i have ever spent on a golf club. The looks and feel are unusual but once you start holing lots more putts you quickly get over them. If anybody is struggling with putting they should give a LAB putter a chance.
Saw the LAB Mezz on your channel a few months ago and was very intrigued. Since then I have watched at least another 20 TH-cam reviews on the various Mezz models and I am ABSOLUTELY SOLD ON LAB putters. All the reviews RAVE about the LAB putters and say it is a 'GAME CHANGER'. I just have to decide if I want the Mezz 1 or Mezz Max or DF 2.1. Will be ordering one in a week or 2. I watch all your videos and you are definitely holing more putts and you seem super confident with it which is another major plus. Cheers Andy
I never heard of this putter, and just putted with it at the pro shop because i thought it looked gimmicky and weird... but then i started draining putts... im more of a square face, straight back, and through putter... but man ill be buying one now... the proof is in the pudding for me! Im shocked at how it felt!
I rolled one at the big golf store and loved it. Even discounting for the way putts always seem to go in inside the store, this putter seems like a better mousetrap.
The MEZZ 1 Max putter is definitely on my wishlist. I am toying with ordering a custom version to get a head in a different color. I also like the idea of the remote fitting that L.A.B. Golf offers to get the length and lie angle right.
after watching your video on these, and your pro am round where you bagged it by mistake, i bought one, anything from 10ft in now is almost a gimme. Im holing or lagging close long range putts too. Best club ive ever bought and im a manufacturers dream for a new club.
It just works. I have had the 2.1 for years and their technology won’t leave my bag. The Scotty’s, Bettinardi’s and other sticks I own will be wall art from here on out.
Edel has a similar concept as well. They call it Torgue Balanced. I have one, and I absolutely love it. I actually wanted a L.A.B. putter but it was just too much for me and I found Edel.
I completely sympathize with your position Andy. My job as a beer taster is really very stressful. Do my buddies sympathize? Never! 😢 You and I will just have to soldier on for the benefit of mankind. Cheers! 🍻
Andy, I have had the LAB Directed Force 2.1 in and out of the bag for the past year...just cant commit to it full time but I agree that the concept has merits and on some days I putt lights out with it and other days my Scotty Newport is just as good for me...wish I could commit one way or the other but at my age and level of play I suppose it doesnt matter one way or the other
Sympathy . . . maybe not. However, I enjoy the trials, advice and reviews of the products . . . it makes me think differently and opens my mind - that’s a good thing!
You got to try the Max! I’ve just ordered mine, hopefully here in the next 3 weeks. Been hankering after one for the last 18 months, thought I’d try a Odyssey TriHot triple wide CS but Scottsdale Golf messed the order up; I saw it as “a message from the golfing god”. Ordered the Max the next day!! Hope Hotgolf come good for me!!
I have the Mezz1 Max as i couldnt adapt from broomstick Ping to new rules. The Mezz1 max works just like a pendulum and i have jumped from high 70’s to consistent low 70’s in the 3 months i have had it. Really great putter.
Skeptics Beware! L.A.B. putters are the real deal so if one of your playing partner gets one, watch out. I have been putting with the L.A.B. B.2 for about a year now and I won't ever use a Scotty, Piretti, Odyssey, etc EVER again. Consistent and good line and roll are the norm. When I miss I know it's either a bad stroke or poor read. What I AM looking at is a MEZZ or MEZZ.1. Worth every penny! ~●~ 2 caveats, you need to get the right Lie angle and you'll need to practice with it to unlearn all the manipulation you do with your current putter.
I have the DF 2.1 and really wish i’d done their online fitting process. I went with what I thought was standard and absolutely hate it. Just can’t get it to feel comfortable or line up properly. Would like to give the mezz a try but am afraid of dropping another 5 clams on a putter that I can’t try first.
I went to the only fitter in my area that had a mezz to try. Cost me 125 bucks just to swing a club. Found that the online fitting and order was faster and cheaper...wasted that money fer shur. Waiting for the new putter, supposed to be coming today. BTW, LAB has a club trade in process that can reduce the cost of the putter significantly.
Hi Andy, first things first. My Missus just looked up and said "oh, that's him that was sitting in the pub tasting the whisky" .... so I needn't bother about wondering how hard your job is 😂 Great video, I have the Oddysey "Red Ball" putter and I love it. I address the ball the same every time and that adds to a consistent stroke. I don't play enough to spend that amount on a putter. A head to head comparison would be good tho 😉
@6:40 "Let that putter head swing on its own merits..." That's exactly what Bobby Jones taught and what Ben Crenshaw (one of the best putters ever) advocates: the putt is a swing. I find when I do that, it doesn't matter too much what putter I have, be it an Odyssey or a Bullseye. Just let the club head do what it's going to do, and don't interfere with it.
I have a LAB Direct Force 2.1 cost me £360 😮 it’s the best investment I’ve ever made in golf. Once you believe in it, it just works. Playing partners laugh when they first see it, calling it ugly a branding iron, end of the round its can I have a go where did you get it 😅never putted so well, takes time to get used to it but believe and it works.
I have sympathy for you Andy ! When your finished with the mezz can you send it my way 😂? I have the df 2.1 and it’s amazing albeit weird looking. Agree with everything you have found !
LAB golf have today offered up a far more traditional shaped lie-angle-balanced putter, the link1. A first run of 500 are being sold before they go on general sale in January. I think they'll sell like hot cakes despite their $750 price tag... as one of the main complaints about the previous lab putters was their weird look. Not so for the Link1. I bought the original lab 2.1 putter. The one that looked like a massive spaceship. I found it good, but way too light. Not brilliant on slow British greens as I felt I had to really hit the putts too hard.
I guess the issue is that many companies put out amazing claims etc. Mez video is quite convincing but at 400 pounds ($700 Aus) it is a big gamble if you can’t try before you buy.
Sorry Andy not a lot of sympathy for someone doing what would be a dream job for a lot of us. I invested in a Lab Directed Force 2.1 a couple of months ago. Took a little getting used to but I have been steadily improving with it, until I had a round with 25 putts(including 5 birdies) a couple of weeks ago. Out again yesterday and had another excellent putting day Feels so good on the shorter putts, and I find distance control has improved also. It is a big cost commitment but certainly a yes from me also.
@@rorywoods6344 I'm sorry Rory, due to the weather over here in Germany I had no chance so far to do more testing. Will proceed in March I guess.......;-)
Changing clubs constantly is definitely going to have a negative effect. If nothing else just the change in distance from each brand would drive me crazy. Yet being able to play every day helps. Maybe you could spend an hour a day with one set just to keep the feel.
This putter has me very curious. I tried it and liked it a lot. I've also seen your video, from a couple weeks back, on Evnroll putters and would love to see a head-to-head of the Evnroll Zero and the new Mezz.1 Max. Oh, and as for my reply to your initial question about your job being difficult...Boo freakin' Hoo
Andy, I have a L.A.B. but I have the branding iron "original" Directed Force 2.1 shape. Love it. Tried the Mezz but was not as forgiving on various parts of the face, especially since I am a heads up putter. If I miss a putt I only have me to blame, the club does what it is meant to do, any manipulation is a mistake. I don't think I will ever switch.
It must be hellish having to spend your time playing golf and trying stuff out. In all seriousness it would probably drive me nuts as I would be constantly second guess myself. Mind you it did put this putter in your hands which seems to really work for you. For me 430 is a bit steep but it is the club you use the most
Never found the need to change golf clubs during the Winter or the Summer just have 1 or 2 extra for the conditions, take 14 and off you go. Expensive going your way unless you get paid to use them!
I wonder whether it would be legal and effective to build a putter in which the balancing side arms extend forwards as well as/instead of backwards, so that the face would not be right at the front of the club head. Archery bows have balancing arms extending forwards, so the same principle might apply.
No sympathy ;-) Hey Andy, did you keep putting stats before and since using your Mezz putter? When I'm testing any club there is sometimes a disconnect for me between what I think a club is doing for me and what stats tell me a club is doing for me. I'd be curious to know your putting stats if you keep them
Andy can you review the Honu putter please? Supposedly it is very stable= good. Also the Kotahi grip by BJM. I have been using it for a while and found it made any putter I used way better.

Hi Andy
Did you use LAB golf’s on line fitting system and video submission for your putter?
Great invention and initiative I think it should be fair.
How does the LAB putter compare to the Geurin Rife putter (s)? I'm trying to replace mine over the winter and I would respect your opinion. Thanks, TJ
