The last one is a good move, if done right. As he did it, it's a (kind of sneaky, depending on the ref/situation elsewhere on the court) travel. He picks it up before he spins to his second (his right) foot, so he's already established a pivot (left) foot. So the left foot can't move anymore once he shoulder shimmies back the other way. Taking one more step to spin around at that point is just walking out of a pivot, not a second step off the dribble. It's a travel as done here, which is part of why it looks so impressive, combined with how fluid his body control is. He's gotta wait to actually pick up the dribble til his second foot on the spin plants. Then he can shoulder shimmy and turn either way. Myself and numerous people I've played with have done this move for years. That's not the move; that's a travel. Allowing him to do it this way in practice sessions is probably doing him a disservice cuz he's literally cheating the move. Taj looked nice, though.
Not true, he did not end his dribble until both feet were on the floor simultaneously(right before he goes into the shoulder shimmy) thus he can make his right foot the pivot and do an up and under move ✅
@@40441gogoit was close, but he has the ball turned over in his hand and only his left foot is set at that point. Either needs to be neither or both feet on the floor when he flips that ball on top of his hand. In real time, with no replay, he's close enough where he might get away with it, though.
A video speaks a thousand words. Footwork so underrated. Hakeem took it to levels that will never be matched. That is why Kobe asked Hakeem to show him his moves and he did just that. Both examples of ultimate greatness!
Man why is there almost zero of this in the league now? I miss players getting exposed on the block. Even guards back in the day would post you up if they thought you were soft. Now 3 pointer from the logo lol
I feel like this is where the WNBA could really capitalize. They clearly don’t have the flashiness, athleticism or even overall skill of most NBA players but that doesn’t mean their fundamentals can’t be on point.
@@shaungbm3861 Thanks, that’s why I never agreed with lowering the hoop... there’s so much entertaining talent in the NBA without dunking. Just look at this years MVP. Jokic is far from the most athletic guy. Even a runner up in Steph Curry isn’t dunking much. Kyrie and Trae Young are still dazzling in the playoffs and do 99% of it without dunking. I’ve never understood why we couldn’t someday see similar players in the WNBA
Because a 3 is worth more than a 2 and most coaches run layup or 3 schemes, it’s some posting up but unless you have a great post player you’re at a disadvantage, vying the fact that there are a lot of decent post defenders
@oo70mar both feet gotta be down when he picks the ball up. His weren't. Only his left was. He shimmies back the other way, then walks right out of his pivot foot. He missed the move. It was a smooth looking travel, but get that right toe down before you pick it up, youngsters...
@oo70mar i think you gonna get called for this a good percentage of the time. I saw the right foot up, ball in hand, left foot established right away. He was smooth enough with it where he'll get away with it sometimes. Guess we'll have to see if he does it, & does it the same in a game...

Ive seen 1000's of basketball videos on Euuutube. Hands down this is what people should be watching. Incredible fundamentals.
Hakeem would be proud of Taj
The dream shake
Taj Gibson getting in that work
The second guy walked.
You mean prior to the bounce? Yeah maybe but the pivot move was smooth
@@markcruz359you’re on point. im not calling the first move off the catch a travel though, too nitpicky
Sure
Taj looking like a star player against amateurs ♥️🤣
No one in todays NBA has that kinda of footwork except for Jokic
I was thinking the same lol he doesn't do this on the court but it looks nice
As a former post player it’s nice to see clips of guys working on actual post moves. Not just bigs trying to work on their guard skills.

That’s Taj Gibson. Played with D-Rose. He’s a fuckin beast.

Taj Gibson NBA player
Casual Don, dont remember them drose bulls team
Taj Gibson

The first guy?! Man I must be getting old
I've always liked Taj, he's one of those players you know will give you a solid game everytime they step into the court.
The guy at the end WALKS! Like wtf, everyone just ignores games rules now !
Tienes razón. Estaba leyendo los comentarios a ver quien lo decía.
Yeah. They do. Can't score without cheating.
Taj really like that, Top tier nba bigs feet work
Gibson is a machine
Excellent footwork
Very nice! Quick decisions & smooth movements!
Aw my boys getting ready for the big 3 i see.
Bell working on things he’ll never use in a game
Well definitely not, anymore. When was his last nba appearance?

@@Simon_Sez That is a brilliant point. Imagine what a WNBA MVP with footwork like Hakeem Olajuwan would do for the sport

Taj has the best poster on my boy DWade
🥲 beautiful footwork!
Thanx God, these guys do all moves like it was in old days, without travels.
Footwork looks good
The last dude definately walked😂
The first step doesn’t count as he hasn’t collected the ball with two hand. When he catch the ball his right foot is his pivot foot.
