Problem with froch is he's underrated by most boxing fans but he's also his own biggest fan which makes him sound arrogant and bitter about how his career is rated with the greats, but the man could scrap and has one of the best engines, chins and heart I've seen
It was an odd turn for Froch, he was never suited to arrogance like a Mayweather or Broner. He was a hard, working class man (Hatton esq), not the model dating/ self promoting twat he became...

He's a bit of a meme with the whole Wembley Stadium thing, but Froch's run of fights against quality opposition from Pascal until Groves stands up to pretty much anybody who has ever stepped into the ring.
Hmm i am very well aware of his credentials and give him all the credit for fighting all and beating most of the best in his era. However Andre ward fought all the same and beat all the same and more of his era but gets no respect for it. Glad you understand that was a great era of super middles
You're not serious right? The man ducked Calzaghe who beat a prime Kessler FAR more convincingly than Froch beat an over the hill Kessler. Froch also didnt want no part of Adonis Stevenson, who would have flattened him due to Frochs leaky defence. The two fights that were the significant step ups in quality for Froch were the ones he lost handily.
@@camborocks Don't bring Stevenson into this hahaha, he has by far ducked every single mid tier or high level fighter he has ever had the chance of fighting except one and we know how that ended (with Adonis in a Coma), the man is a joke and frankly a disgrace to French Canadians if you know anything about his personal history, he has ducked Jean-Pascal, which Froch fought, Adonis is a joke in his own province ffs. Also a guy who lost to Darnell Boone (24-24-5) in 2010 does not even deserve a shot at Froch honestly, not even in the same class.
Also Joe fought his last fight in 2008, that was before Froch had even won the WBC title from Jean Pascal (before any title outside of the British and Commowealth Titles) so I fail to see how he could have ducked him seeing as Froch was still climbing the rankings at that time.

Froch had a great boxing career. He was matched very well with top notch opposition while at his peak. I enjoyed watching his fights especially at the championship level.

As a UK fan I don't really like Froch's personality and ego, but I can appreciate what he's done, being the 2nd best Super MiddleWeight of his era was no easy task. Not a great boxer but had an Iron Chin, a huge workrate, good power and unbelievable determination.
Froch has an awesome podcast I think you’d enjoy. He does have a bit of an ego, but what champion boxer doesn’t? Once you listen to him for awhile, you begin to understand and appreciate him more.
I met him a few years ago. I busted him in a poker tournament and he took it pretty well. Talked to him a little bit about boxing and he seemed pretty friendly. The ego is probably more for show than anything.
Froch is arguably the 4th best of his era behind Calzaghe, Ward, and Kessler, even though he won the last fight against Kessler.
@@HyperSpaz I watched a Sugar Ray Leonard interview from like 8/9 years ago (they mentioned the Olympics coming up in London) and he's one of the most modest and humble boxers I've ever seen, I recommend watching it as he talks for a good 45 minutes I think it was. George Foreman is another one that's incredible humble, especially when he says things like "Ali did the rope a dope and I was the dope". Us Brits generally don't boast, so I can see why Froch rubs people up the wrong way.
From what I hear, i'll listen and keep an eye out more for Froch related stuff, probably right about it being a public personna, just seemed like some of the bitterness towards Ward and Groves comes off a bit weird. @ElSpewtardo, I don't really consider Calzaghe as part of the same era. Froch won his first world title the same year he retired. I agree that Ward is above him. But Froch is ahead of Kessler, I thought he won the first fight pretty clearly as well, and he went on to fight and beat far better competition than what Kessler has fought. He also avenged the loss against Kessler, no disrespect to Kessler though.
Always fought quality opposition, wasn't afraid to risk losing. Wish we still had more fighters like this! He's turned himself into a bit of a meme post retirement but he was some fighter, proper warrior! Could you imagine a fantasy fight between Froch and Benn? Neither would take a step back
Lost his titles twice and never took a warm up fight after. Got straight back in there with world champions and reclaimed his belts. You don't see that happen very often.

Being from my home town, I can say that Froch is my favourite. Not only because of that, but because he never tried to duck or avoid anyone. He happily fought the best available and many of the top fighters avoided him. Albeit he lost some fights, but in all honesty, which top level fighters haven't? Certainly the likes of Wilder and Mayweather completely avoided the threats in their respective divisions to try and keep the '0' as much as possible.

Froch was a no nonsense warrior who made the best of his limited ability. The man was a fearless fighter who fought everyone and beat everyone in his era barring super middleweight GOAT Ward. Fantastic career, and great champion.

@@quietelephantasmr6364 He relied a bit too much on his toughness, his defense was poor. In a street fight that wouldn't be such a problem, but in a sport with points involved it's asking for trouble. I was a big fan of Froch.

Froch is probably the most underrated fighter in history. He fought a murderer's row starting with Pascal & the only man he faced that he never beat retired undefeated himself.

Unlike some I couldn't care care less what a fighter says out of the ring its what they do in the ring the counts and Froch was the most consistently exciting fighter I've seen this century.

My favorite fight of Froch by far was when he fought Bute in his own back yard, Canada. Bute at the time was regarded by some as the top 168 in the division even though he didn’t compete in the Super 6 tournament. While Froch on the other hand competed in the Super 6 & lost a one sided affair against Ward in the finals. Bute was undefeated and Froch was looking for redemption... and the outcome was a total massacre

I'm only 25 and from England, Froch is honestly the first boxer I can remember watching him from when he was just below world level. it was the man's style which made him so popular in the UK his never say die attitude between the ropes is something I've never seen before or after him . I'm only a young pup myself though.

People have a negative opinion of him, but he is one of the few boxers who never ducked anybody, he fought the best there was in the division during his era and had the best chin I've ever seen in boxing.
Really enjoyed watching him fight, always in fantastic scraps. Pascal, Taylor, Kessler I & II, Bute, Groves I & II. All classics.
Simple fact is, Carl is one of the great UK Champions. Went to peoples back yard, was never scared of anyone. Was a bit fortunate at key moments in his career, Taylor and Direll fights I feel were career "sliding door" moments. And the soul taking Ward put on him stands out.
But you can not argue with the mans resume, it stands up hugely to any of his Champion countrymen. Calzaghe ran from him into retirement.
Although it has become a bit of a joke now, it cannot be denied that the two Groves fight surpassed expectations and was one of the great British sporting rivalries. Since then, I can only think of the Haye Bellew fights that attracted anywhere near that kind of attention and lived up to the hype.
He’s become an unpopular figure in British boxing but his resume speaks for itself. One of the best champions from the UK.

Froch has an extremely deep record. He may have lost to Ward but he fought anyone and everyone and beat almost all the top super middleweights during that period.

Frotch has never been given credit for what he done. He only failed to beat one opponent in his career, and was hard as nails. Always enjoyed watching his fights. A true champion for his time. Second only to Andre Ward in his division.
Best of Britain: middleweights and super middleweights. My personal fav is calzaghe but froch is one hell of a fighter. Amazing heart

Froch had a great career, fought everyone at 168 pretty much. Ward totally schooled him though and as much as Froch called for a rematch, I don't believe he ever wanted it. He knew Ward had his number.
The Froch on Fighting podcast is my new favorite. I highly recommend it to any fight fan. Carl describes what life is like as a champion prizefighter. He comes across as a very intelligent, and even likable. Just like Lennox Lewis, I have a renewed appreciation for him and his career.
Froch was a massive over achiever,nobody could have predicted he would do as well as he did after watching him earlier in his career..It’s a credit to his physical and mental toughness and will to win,he wasn’t as good as some others in his division technically,easily hit and could be outboxed comfortably (Ward),However...He was a fighter who could go deep into the trenches and it served him better than any other Super middle for about 8 years (Ward aside).No question a very tough guy and a deserved 3 time champion and has been involved in some highly entertaining fights through his career.
Froch was as tuff as they come...…..his heart would never give up the fight and his belief in himself was sec to none!!! Respect ;-)

Come to mind there was another "Cobra" called Istvan Kovacs from Hungary. He was a tremendous amateur - won everything including the Olimpic gold. He wasn't so great as Froch in the professional circuit but he managed to become the first ever pro hungarian world champ in boxing history. The name Cobra suited him much better because he was really fast. Looking at Carl Froch he really wasn't. Still kudos for the great chin and heart for Froch.

Brilliant channel and content mate, I find myself watching quite a few of your videos. I prefer them to other channels for mainly 2 reasons.
One being you're not just another voice over (or worse, a pc voice) channel.
And two, you even look and sound like a stereotypically legit corner man from New York 😆

When froch fought I was always excited to see his fights he loved a fight he didnt have the speed of some fighters or the skills but he loved to mix it with best and he was tough as old boots
Great piece Rummy. Froch had a stretch of fights where every single one was a top contender. It was I think 8 consecutive fights. That’s not to be scoffed at. He avoided nobody. Over here in the UK he continues to mock the achievements of Joe Calzaghe who retired just as Froch broke thru. These actions do little to make him more likeable as a person. His desire, toughness and heart cannot be called into question but as a retired boxer he could maybe take a leaf out of Lennox Lewis’s book and show some humility and humbleness now and then. Instead, he demonstrates petulance and immaturity.

Clear all time great, routinely defeated fighters who had more skill then him,sometimes by a significant margin, his resume is incredible.
Another great video. I have to say, as someone who is about Froch's size and who has just started some boxing training for the first time ever (heavy bag etc. in my garage, great for the lockdown), I can't think of any fighter I'd less like to face.
