CALZAGHE britains no.1 super middlewieght would easily beatin gobshite Froch...Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank r second and third brithish but best ever in th world had to go to Roy Jones Junior thats all i will agree on
Froch got schooled by Ward and he would have got schooled by Calzaghe. I would have preferred to see Ward vs Calzaghe. Froch was good but those two were elite.
He's talking about Joe Calzaghe, one of the best boxer of all times, like he was nothing back then. I'm absolutely shattered with this man's poor spirit!
Chris Eubank's has admitted that Calzaghe's so called little weak slaps hurt him. other fighters have said the same. jeff lacy's resume was pretty good up till the calzaghe fight. with the majority of his opponents having positive records. he was at 20/21 fights undefeated, with the majority of his fights ending in KO or UD. that's not a bad resume. and calzaghe destroyed him. For me Canelo Alvarez, James Toney should be some where in there. froch and kessler shouldn't be on that list of top 5's. maybe top 20's. i like carl, he was a good fighter and a warrior. but this is no way for a warrior to go about. disappointing. wouldn't mind if it was just British banter.
Irrespective of what was said AFTER Joe Calzaghes fight with Lacy. Was Carl Froch ever in a fight where pretty much every pundit and bookie was saying he'd bitten off more than he could chew? Apart from Ward I mean (and they were right) Was Froch ever in another 50-50 With a dangerous unbeaten young World Title holder like Kessler who the pundits thought was a massive test? Was Froch ever in a tougher fight than Calzaghe v Bernard Hopkins at 175? The answer is no
can't put Froch in front of Eubank or Benn, jheez. Eubanks beat Watson in that GREAT fight then defended 15 times in a few short years going to Berlin beating 35-0 Rocchi(better than Kessler), draw with WBC king Benn.... Benn took the belt off the champion in ITALY, defences vs Eubank & G-Man, lhws like Piper, Giminez(dropped Duran early) etc no comparison... Also Eubank beat Collins clearly imo
I was a huge fan of Eubank, Benn etc but let’s face it apart from fighting each other they didn’t really take on the other greats of that era like RJJ or Toney or McCallum or Jackson. Froch fought every top fighter of his era and only lost to one without avenging the defeat. Calzaghe ducked Froch, no question. Saying that Benn did fight McClellan.
@@punkoid76 nobody Froch faced was anywhere close to the level of those names, even Ward who ran or held mostly, you didn't see the skills of Mccallum or Toney from him. Imagine or Julian Jackson or Mcclellan hit Froch like Taylor or Groves did,it would be curtains
Roy Jones was Pascal x10000. Can't compare, even when Carl lost he kept getting big fights right after that he didn't deserve, if Eubanks or Benn lost back then they'd b back at bottom of pile earning peanuts, wouldn't need Howard Foster jumping in either
John Dyson Benn fought Barkley and Dewitt in the USA because his stock in the UK dropped after the Watson defeat, hats off to him. Benn was my least favourite at the time but in retrospect he had the most heart and wasn’t afraid of an L on his record. Eubank was great but he should’ve fought in the states against RJJ or Toney or Jackson. Froch is way better than you guys give him credit for, he fought better opponents back to back than all of the others but for some reason this misty eyed nostalgia for the late eighties and early nineties keeps him from being considered great, bollocks. I lived through that whole era and followed boxing closely, Froch would’ve been a tough fight for all of them. Julian Jackson might’ve KO,d him if he landed like he did against the bomber, that would’ve been a great fight if the Hawk was a SMW, but it was a new division back then.
fred callan Benn lost and after four fights had a title shot, Eubank lost and within three fights had another title shot at SMW and back to back title shots at cruiser weight. Your argument holds no water, sorry. It was a different era back then, especially when Benn lost, no PPV to hype fights. Eubank was an early PPV star in the UK so when he lost he was quickly back in contention. Froch was runner up in the super six and his first defeat was in the super six so he was already contracted to fight for another title, if Bute had entered it or if Ward had chosen to fight him after the super six then Froch probably wouldn’t have had the chance to go straight back to the top, that was all down to decisions by Ward and Bute, not Froch’s fault.
Legend in his own mind ward made him look slow and methodical which he was .Nelson being oh so nice for God sake tell him the truth .He barely makes the top ten .
@@garrynewnham That is so, but that wouldn't have hindered such a classy operator as SRR. So many of the A.T.G's performed at several weight classes. Froch was well beaten by Ward who didn't have the technical skills of Calzaghe so Calzaghe would have beaten Froch easily. To put SOB Ward at number 2 is an absolute disgrace. I watched most of his big fights and what amazed me was why he was never warned or disqualified for head buts wrestling, holding, use of elbows, low blows, in fact, the full repertoire of illegal tactics. This seemed to be the basis of his"skill set" plus a great part of his record relied on more than biased or compliant refereeing and judging.
What's this based on? Longevity? Jones isn't top. Ability? Froch and Kessler are nowhere near Nunn or Toney. It doesn't make sense. The best long term career super middles were Calzaghe and Ward. The best who passed through the division were RJJ, Toney, Eubank Sr and Nunn. The best of the rest were Benn and McClellan - Carl Froch wasn't on that level. Plus there's Steve Collins. How can the ordinary Mikkel Kessler rank above The Celtic Warrior and those epic wins over a 41-0-2/43-1-2 Chris Sr etc. You have to put Calzaghe numero uno. RJJ was at the weight for 12-18 months, Calzaghe for 14-15 years!
I feel sad for Carl. I really do. He was a great fighter who gave his all on the ring and gave us plenty of classic fights and entertainment, and yet somehow, his mouth ruins his image, because there is nowhere in hell he could beat Calzaghe 😂😂
Completely disagree. Don't get me wrong , i would make Calzaghe a big favourite for that fight but to think that Froch had NO chance of winning against literally ANYBODY is absurd. He was outclassed by ward but he was never totally out of the fight. I'm not a fan as a human being , but Carl Froch, as a fighter was a true test for every fighter he faced, and every fighter he faced knew it.
@@fayahmad9063 yeah I really do, Joe inhis prime was the best Super-MW on the planet. Froch is a good boxer but honestly if you look at their opponents, achievements and the title runs/reigns it’s not even close.
If you analyse the super-middleweights around at that time, Calzaghe fought everyone of any note apart from Frankie Liles. He didn't fight Sven Ottke, but we all know what would have happened. When he did fight a Kessler or a Lacy he was able to step it up and win convincingly. Hopkins reneged on a deal to fight him several years before they met. This has been well documented. All in all a great boxer, but it would have been fascinating seeing him fight Jones or Hopkins earlier.

can't put Froch in front of Eubank or Benn, jheez.
