Good morning. When I graduated high school, the lane company came to the school and gave each girl one of the mini cedar chests and an order form to take home hoping our parents would buy the full size one. That was 1976 and I still have mine.
I have one too. I gave it to my husband for his manly stuff on his bureau. Got married 2 weeks after high school graduation, but never got my lane hope chest. Didn’t need it. Father bought me a wooden deacon’s bench with a lid and I still have it both husband and the bench…52 1/2 years!
Thank you Kris, I enjoy the estate sales videos, the last house was so beautiful. I’m glad you found more of the brown transferware that you collect. I only have a few pieces of Fair Winds but I love 💕 to display it in the Fall.
Firstly, Merry Christmas Kris to you and Eric and your son. I was actually showing my husband the footage today and as I examined it further I noticed this woman collected a lot of egg cups and tea pots and creamers. She did have a couple of nice covered dishes and I loved the big pitcher she had that looks like blue flow. My husband abandoned surprised me with two big lots of Blue Willow for Christmas. There are child tea sets and even an adorable doll tea set wit tray. Lol my table is full of blue Willow. I am going to need another cabinet to display it all.
Hi! I graduated high school in Texas in 1982. The Lane Company gave the cedar boxes to the female graduates. It came with a set of keys to lock up your most treasured teenage possessions.
Hi Nice video If you plan to stack most of the plates underneath , with a few standing in back to show off patterns , you will get more room in your cabinet to display your stuff . I’m glad you use your dishes , I use the ones I collect too !! So nice to set tables for special events , or even small get together w friends Enjoy!
Kris, I was sitting here thinking that seeing you stepped back and captured that entire collection of beautiful Blue Willow and other nice blue and white can you make it into a picture? What you captured and paused on that collection it reflects what a woman probably spent years collecting that she put into such a nice display. That could be on the cover of a magazine or it could be put in a frame for a pretty picture on a wall. That’s not something one sees very often. Maybe one of the things you can do in your travels is to have a camera with you where you could take pictures when you come across special collections so nicely displayed like this.
Glad you like the idea. You did step back and got the entire view and paused. Maybe you can use that. That woman probably spent years collecting all those pieces. You paused and captured that. She probably held each piece just as you do when you find a piece for your own collections. I know you buy and sell but the reason you gain viewers is because you inspire. 🥰
Great video, when you redo your cabinet you may want to put the plates in the bottom and that will give you more room to display your other pieces. Love all your finds ❤
Iris is too cute. Love old houses and your finds, the “ band uniform” in the first house is actually a formal wool dress coat from either West Point or some other federal or senior military college. You can tell by the patches on the sleeves, indicating rank. This dress coat is worn in parades and graduation. My daughter is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute. Loved seeing her formal dress coat , all the cadets will tell you can get very hot wearing then 😅
@ They are , they are tailored to each cadet and adjusted throughout the year so that cadets look pristine during parades and formal events. Some of the seamstress have been working at these military colleges have been doing it for years and know how each cadet is supposed to look according to their school standards. Interesting note . That when women were allowed to enter in to the federal military and state military colleges. That were traditionally males . Schools had to adjust the uniforms to fit a female form. Such amazing history in those uniforms.
Your rooster picture is known as tinsel art. Made by putting a backing of crinkled up tin foil behind a translucent watercolor picture, they did lots of the "Last Supper", I have never seen a rooster! You should have asked a price on the collection of blue & white china.
Thank you for the information! I didn't know the specific term for it, I only knew that it made for an interesting effect. It didn't occur to me to ask the price for the collection - if I'm honest, blue and white is a sloooooooooooow seller for me. I think it's lovely, but it doesn't move too fast on my ebay store.
I love your collection of brown transfer ware and if you decide to sell any of your pieces I am definitely interested! I also am grateful for all of the information you provided us on the history of transfer ware it’s very interesting to me. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and am looking forward to all of your finds in 2025.😊
Hi Kris, just watched your recent video of your Estate Sale adventures. Thank you for pausing to show the wonderful blue and white collection at the Wallingford Estate Sale. Omg so many beautiful pieces. I would have camped out there looking at the different pieces to see who made them. I love the big pitcher that was on the second shelf in the back it looked like flow blue and it must have been Willow because I spotted the doves. Wonder what the prices were? I have been researching the different makers. I just got some cups and saucers from a woman in Branford because the maker is Alfred Meakin from England. They are older and I like how the trim is on the outside and inside of the cup. Did you know that Port Marian bought out Spode? The cups you filmed in the upstairs bedroom are probably made in Japan as they have some transfer on the inside which I like yet usually mean Japan Guess what! The woman I bought the blue Willow cups and saucers from and sent my husband to pick up gave them to me no charge. So nice of her and so unexpected. Made me cry.
I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing the beautiful blue and white collection! I LOVE that the woman gave you the cups and saucers for no charge - that was so sweet of her! People can be so thoughtful sometimes. I'm sure you more than deserved it! 💕💕
WOW! Sometimes one hits the Jack pot when we least expect it. The Wallingford house would be my dream . I agree with the other person that Lane gave those boxes out to girls graduating. I wonder what year it all stopped?
It was such a beautiful home. I would have loved to have seen it when the homeowner was still living there. The estate sale coordinator had to rearrange things for the sale - add tables, etc, which is totally understandable. I bet it was amazing before all of that took place. Good question about the Lane boxes - I'm going to have to do some research and find out!
Someone has expressed interest via ebay messaging, so I want to make sure I give that person first crack at it. If she doesn't want it, I'll list it publicly. Thanks so much for reaching out!
I appreciate the time you take Kris to not only show us the back stamps, but to also read the backing of the different items. It is so helpful especially when deciding to make a purchase from your eBay store. I appreciate your being detailed and always kind! Merry Christmas! ❤

@@lizpelletier7785 that's such a great story! Thanks for sharing!
As a high school graduate, each girl got that little wooden Lane chest -Massachusetts, back. In the 60’s - / fun to see one again.
I love that! I bet they were a fabulous asset for anyone who owned wool - it's such a bummer when the moths get into it.
Love the salt and pepper shakers. Always enjoy your fun history additions. Thanks for making me smarter today! 😉
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! ❤❤
Morning. I love the educational aspects to your hauls/ videos. The Pendleton blazer is pretty! 2 very nice estate sales and hauls.
I'm so glad you enjoy the info - it's so much fun to do the research and share my findings!
The brown and white serving dish is so unusual. It’s gorgeous
I love anything unusual - it's why thrifting is so much fun, you never know what you're going to find!

I'm not sure I even did the house justice - it was utterly charming! Fair Winds is a classic!

I'm going to definitely take your advice. I think that would help so much. I'll definitely show my results once I find some time to rearrange things.
Love the little octagon strawberry tray, and the artwork was so cute and a great buy!! Good haul!!
I'm so glad you liked it! I was really pleased with my finds.
Oh my goodness, I love the salt & pepper set! ❤❤❤ And the strawberry wall art. I love strawberries also 😊
It's odd to say, but somehow they're just a cheerful little fruit! 😂😂

Loved the beautiful little box with frankincense and myrrh.

GREAT finds for your booth! Really nice estate sales.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the estate sales!
Wow, all that brown and white!! How I envy you!
Don't envy me too much - I don't have the first clue how I'm going to fit it all into my corner cabinet! 🤔🤔

I got my Lane small chest in 1967.
Do you still have it? I can't believe I had never heard of these small chests before.
Excellent video.... great haul 😊😊😊😊
I'm so glad you liked it!
I got one of those lovely Lane boxes from a thrift store lol. Love it ❤
I had never seen one before! You were lucky to find one at a thrift store!
@ Yes I sure was lol. I pd $1 or $2 for it.
@@kimkerley4218 you can't beat those prices!
Thank you for sharing your adventures and great finds! How do you usually find out about upcoming estate sales?
I have pretty good lucky checking Craigslist online. That's been my best resource, along with word of mouth from viewers.

Are you keeping the Frankenscence box? Didnt see it on Ebay
Yes, I decided to keep it. It was so unique! (I know, I'm the WORST!)
Enjoy your channel. Just wish you would slow down the camera hard when showing things😊
You are so very right - it's hard sometimes to film at an estate sale, but I will try to do better next time! Thanks for the feedback! 👍🏻👍🏻
@ you’re doing great. I just love looking at everything 💞
Just saw TH-cam video of Dick Van Dyke’s 100th birthday.
I also heard he was in a Coldplay video? He's had such a fabulous career, but I love him in Mary Poppins even more than Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
I’ve found that these estate sales are just a dealer who brings in stuff to sell not really contents of the home owner.
That hasn't been my experience, but I imagine that if that were the case, it would be pretty frustrating!
O lordy please don’t read the back of another tray! And stop fiddling with your glasses!!!
I often wonder what motivates a person to leave unkind feedback, especially right before Christmas.
I appreciate the time you take Kris to not only show us the back stamps, but to also read the backing of the different items. It is so helpful especially when deciding to make a purchase from your eBay store. I appreciate your being detailed and always kind! Merry Christmas! ❤
