Guys watch the launch of the 240....Look at that little bit of wheel spin and tire wrinkle just like a little top fuel car.....I just think Leroy hooks up to hard on the green light and does a jump. That hand break leaver needs a big return spring on it too it's not popping back to zero fast enough....Just my arm chair racer 2 cents worth.....Hell yeah brother !!!
You're possibly very correct though. 240 has the perfect balance of wheel spin and grip off the line. But he's also got a back half tune that's eating up boost pressure and loving it. The MPH shows it big time.
I would like to also add, Leroy needs different shocks in the front. Needs way more rebound so Leroy can squat in the back. I think tire spin and more squat. He'll be unbeatable
That brake wont hold back that much power. Corvettes have like no suspension travel. Don't forget Leroy was a do everything car drift, street, drag. The suspension is not what most cars running 7's have. Leroy is pretty dialed in without a solid axle and a bouncy front end.
Magucci13 I was just watching the video and I though the same thing. Leeroy needs shocks front and rear. The 240 rear end squats just right off the launch, and the front shocks are using all the travel in the first 60ft. Leeroy doesn’t really move, I think Cletus is the only reason leeroy is even doing what it’s doing. He uses the hand brake like traction control. That is was too inconsistent
I’ve wondered for awhile if Leroy would benefit traction after 60ft from a MODEST rear spoiler. Seems he breaks loose and gets real squirrelly out there.
This is why I love this channel no grudges no beef from either racing teams nothing but thee best sportsmanship from both teams this is how it should always be nothing but respect between racers
Suspension suspension suspension. You can have all the power in the world. But, if you can’t make it stick..........Graciousness in defeat is a true sign of character. Good job, gentlemen.
Yeah I've been thinking for a long time that Leroy was too finicky on his launches and wondering if it was an issue where the suspension was too firm maybe. I'm no expert at all... just a suspicion I've had. Seem to me like a suspension that is too firm to torque load up like a spring will require much highest skill from the driver in his or her clutch technique. And when we're talking about a 3 gear change 7-8 second race.... that's asking a lot of the driver.
If he’s driving clutch then he needs the suspension softer so all of the body weight can shift to the rear tires because the car is too light so if he slips the clutch enough he doesn’t have to really worry about spinning
I've been thinking the same thing for a while now. Traction bars maybe. He's got to keep the ass end down or no 7s. A larger diameter tire will help to reduce wheel spin as well. They need to approach the problem with physics in mind. Science is the answer to everything.
That's because the rear control arms are walking in the bush mounts under torque and steering it from the rear, forcing him to counter steer as the boost comes on in each gear. If he sources some harder bush mounts, i'm sure it would solve the walking issue, also think he needs to take 1/2 maybe a full psi out of the rears, seems to be riding a little high and only using the middle 2/3's of the tread (previous video showed a real good shot of control arms moving and the tyres riding high)
While I agree, don't discount the fact that Leroy is still IRS and the camo car is now a 8.8 swapped car. HUGE difference in how the cars act. IRS is a huge learning curve.

@@bryce340v8 yeah he's got another grand probably the boost isn't as high as it has been they turned him back for reliability purposes due to comments I'd assume he can definitely run faster than this

Aero is a problem, but panels won't make as big of a difference to the ET as you think. There's only 3 seconds of the pass where aero will actually matter. But in competition, every tenth counts.
@@harrykelly4651 they played with that in the windtunnel video, some of the panels made it worse as the drag is due to the dead air behind the car iirc.
@@harrykelly4651 It might sound counter-intuitive, but aero is actually more important on the back end than the front, because the back is actually where the negative air pressure pulls you back if your body doesn't taper or kam-tail well, but on the front you're pretty much pushing through the same cross-sectional area of air regardless.

yeah it kinda looks like suspesion travels a lot at start, maybe it should sit down a bit smoother within the 1st couple of meters/ft? Or new tires? but im no expert, just wondering..
Pickle Bacon the fact that it was a road vehicle makes the chassis behave like that, I know Leroy has coil overs and sway bars but the way it bounces is just beyond of what the car may need, weight transfer is massive because of how much torque the car has, doing the car less prone to sit under acceleration or dive under brake is critical, but I can assure it’s going way to deep under heavy loads!
Eduardo Portillo if he turns Leroy up to match the power of the 240 it would do just fine. But he is sitting at like 1500hp on the button, but the 240 is probably closer to 2K
@@1PMPerformance no, not even close, went a 7.50 or 7.60. Leroy is very capable of running those times, cleetus just needs so time back in the seat to get himself and all that new hp dialed in to the car.

It was all fun & games with Ruby. Good seeing you getting back to business with the old good Leroy. Can't wait to see more of his shenanigans. Dial him in and start going after that 7.5s
Their bigger issue is getting control of the car's LAUNCH. Of course body panels would help on the big end, but body panels ain't gonna do a damned thing for getting the car to hook up & launch the way they want it to. If ya don't have the car dialed in for the first half of the track.........it's highly doubtful you're going to make up for it at the big end. That dude just broke a record, first 4 second stick shift car in the 1/8th mile........and they are racing 1/4 mile. Body panels at this time are NOT "the answer" for that, lol.
I agree Leroy has ( or will have ) issues due to no aero........but that ain't what caused them to lose this race. It was at the take off. Gearing & suspension, among other things is what it's going to take to solve their current problem of moving that car off the line.
@@howabouthetruth2157 I understand but I think the real problem is Leroy is no longer the fastest stick shift car...doing all the above won't hit 7.55s without aero in my opinion

I am only guessing but I think there might be some play in the linkage for the first bit of the throw, I do see what you are talking about though.
I’m pretty sure Cleetus has addressed this in a video a while back, he said that it took a lot of force to pull the hand brake and it was just play in it
Ive had crazy things get me before
I do believe cleetus gets as much enjoyment seeing his buds do good as he does doing good himself. Good man!
Good job guys. But that 240 was moving holy crap. He made Leroy look like he was standing still
Richard Bostick Cleetus hit a perfect tree if he kept everything together he would’ve walked that 240
Calm down I'm a huge cleetus fan. But that car was fast and the team had it tuned. Leroy will be there this season for sure tho
Richard Bostick I’m not bashing you i get what you mean
Fir sure. I love watching these guys kill it out there. This season will be fun
@@jaelons23 he wouldn't have walked shit lol. There setups better and tuned better . Simple
It's sad to see Leroy lose but *DAMN THAT 2JZ GOT SOME POWER BBY*
Never fails, I get chills running up and down my body seeing Leroy run threw the gears. Hell yeah brother bog deep!
Since nobody else is gonna say it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DALE!! 🇺🇸 Bartle Skeet and Let'er Eat 🇺🇸
Don't understand why I can't watch an NRA drag race for 15 mins without getting bored but I could watch Leroy and Ruby go all day.
Because the NHRA drag races are whose disposable engine powered exactly the same car can go faster than the others. There's no variety, there's no challenge, and there's no heart.
This is just dudes dreaming up crazy shit to go fast, trying to do things that haven't been done, and appreciating each others journeys while doing it. I'll take this every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Because we watch because of Garret, Coop, and James. They make us feel a connection to the cars. Best guys on TH-cam hands down! Ugh I have bad grammar
@@joshuanewsome5298 Mine is no better. I forgot the h in NHRA.
I'm so proud of you. You are a true good sport. You'll do much better next time. Think about bringing Jeremy your tuner. I'm 75 so my memory isn't that good but I think that's his name. I'm a 3 tour Vietnam combat vet. I've awakened every morning since 1972 thankful that nobody is shooting at me. Seeing you and your freedom to do what you love and doing it with a gladness for other's success is inspiring even to this grumpy old man.Thank God for American freedom where you can write your own script of life. You live it well. I've loved cars since I was 11. I've raced both drags and open track road racing. I admire the engineering that goes into autos. America allows men like you to experiment, learn and compete. You and your friends are truly what this country is all about. Keep freeing them bald eagle and do it for Dale!
I found a stick shift Baja for spaghetti cooper! It's in MT.
Joe Acher yES!!!!!
Last time I was this early I ended up with a kid
Feels. But twins😳
This dood
Hahahah. Never heard that one lol
Did you ever end up seeing it again?
Reno69 ...need to work on your 'pullout' game ..hell year brother just send it
Holy shit that 240 is quick. But none the less mad respect for both sides. Leroy you are still my #1!love that car get it boy.
Time to get that rear end alignment figured out.
Yupp
That's the one. There pulling power to fix but a car should spin straight
Right after pfi speed new video ends cleetus uploads. Very nice!
Dude, that first pass was amazing - you predicted an 8.20, and it was an 8.22. You and Leeroy are working like one, it's so cool to watch. Thanks for the video!
Alright Cleeter, it's racing season. Time to quit fooling around with all those other rigs and get the you + Leroy zen back where it ought to be! Excellent work regardless, though, and it's great to see your graciousness. I've lost a lot of things (races, jobs, girls, fistfights, on and on) and I've not always been able to stay gracious and positive, but every time I was it turned out WAY better than it ever would've otherwise. We're all just folks, nobody's any better or worse than another, some are just a little luckier or better prepared now and again. Keep boggin' deep!
Thats funny I just said he need to stop fooling around with those side pieces lol
IDS has been dialing there 240, leroy hasnt been touched for a while. LET THE GAMES BEGIN.
Indeed, even Cleeter is seeming a bit sketchy right now. Just wait till deeper into the season, the shit is on.
Been watching this chanel for 2 years or so now well i think the first ever video i watched was when u drove by a cop at well over 100 miles an hour to see how far youve come man is crazy yall keep up the hard work
I hate to say it, but I don't see Leroy ever going as fast as that 240.
The aerodynamics of Leroy has to be one of the things holding it back.
Oh it would definitely go faster, just not in the stick shift class.
I guarantee ya he can run 7.5 without aero. after that, hes gonna have to figure out something for sure. they just need to dial the motor since its new, they blew the last one getting stick shift record
Midwest Vibes not to mention they are running a totally new to them clutch setup that they are still tuning
I think your problem now is aero. That 7.5 sec pass was like a missile going down the strip.
He should get some minimal carbon panels on the front end and on the roof
Aero is a problem, but panels won't make as big of a difference to the ET as you think. There's only 3 seconds of the pass where aero will actually matter. But in competition, every tenth counts.
that is the next step.. drag squares with speed and Leroy downforce is super draggy as per the windtunnel.
Good cam angle on the helmet there you get to see just how fast Leroy actually is chasing down that pickup that wasn't slow at all! True Savage Bald Eagle Machine =D Cletus also a true gentleman and racer just as happy for the other man putting down an awesome pass as he would be if he won!! Love you guys videos always put a smile on my face!
CLEETUS youve hung out with boosted kyle too long, his 4th gear misses rubbed off on you lol :)
Tyler Wildman lol
Yeah how do you miss the same gear so many times? I've never missed a gear in my life
@@darthbolloful you must drive an automatic then because for us that race manual we would all be lieing if we said we never missed a gear... hell i money shited my car the other day lol scared the shit out of me but the engine was ok
gym shoe you ran a 7?
@@tylerwildman7119 Okay fine I accidently downshifted instead of upshifted one time, once I was scaredshitless I said to myself "never again" thank god the engine was okay
7.50 wow , Leroy can do that . Just have to dial him in :-)
From putting 10 whistles in your exhaust for views a couple years ago to running 7s in a badass bodyless corvette. This channel is awesome.
Yo Cletus your car launches bad, maybe Leroy doesn’t need more power but better suspension setup 🤔
Verny Mora perhaps you can enlighten me and tell me what other suspension parts are better than his current setup?
Backup your comment of “Leroy needs a better suspension setup”
yeah it kinda looks like suspesion travels a lot at start, maybe it should sit down a bit smoother within the 1st couple of meters/ft? Or new tires? but im no expert, just wondering..
@@picklebacon its not his parts its how he has them set up. you can see leroy bouncing all over the 60 foot.
More suspension tuning
I guess you could say the 240 blew Leroy’s doors off...
POV shots are amazing! Totally can feel the G’s in that first pass!
It’s time to put body panels on Leroy!!!!!! Send it man!!! 🇺🇸
Project Cooch yea I remember I’ve been here since the beginning but I want Leroy to be the best out there and if that means body panels so be it 😎 🇺🇸
Eduardo Portillo if he turns Leroy up to match the power of the 240 it would do just fine. But he is sitting at like 1500hp on the button, but the 240 is probably closer to 2K
Time to focus on Leroy and go after that fastest stick shift v8 wr.
Good luck I think a mustang went 6
@@1PMPerformance no, not even close, went a 7.50 or 7.60. Leroy is very capable of running those times, cleetus just needs so time back in the seat to get himself and all that new hp dialed in to the car.
That race was pretty freakin awesome! I enjoy the great sportsmanship shown during the whole race day!
I like watching ruby videos, leroy videos, anything that has to do with cars and drag racing. So much so that you guys inspired me to start my own youtube channel. I hope someday, I get to drag race with Cleetus along side. Keep up the great content!!!!, Keep videos coming!!!!!. Good luck on your 2019 drag racing season.

Time for a 19 min poop at work
My best rime was 27 mins
the energy is different. these guys put so much in I can sense the exhaustion
Gotta think to that the 240 only weighs 2300lbs and hes been racing that car for years. Cleatus is still fairly new with this build
Great racing guys!!
love it!!
Have you thought further into the suspension loading and unloading properly?
All this power needs a good suspension to function 100% correct to achieve the times sought after.
Food for thought!
Love you guys!!
Bogg deep brothas!!
It was all fun & games with Ruby. Good seeing you getting back to business with the old good Leroy. Can't wait to see more of his shenanigans. Dial him in and start going after that 7.5s
Graciously outbogged, that 240 ripps 🔥🎌
Lol @15:23 the older dude in the back has a big smile😂
Man if that engine was in ruby behind that powerglide... I'm an OG Leroy fan but he needs some kind of aerodynamics.
I actually think you're right. Leroy needs aero. He loses power in fighting against the elements
He needs a straight rear end. Cleetus is turning right as every gear comes in.
@@slammerf16 thats cause his bushings are walking under load. he needs to get hardened bushing mounts for the rear
He said it had a bent frame a couple months ago, didn't he?
Joshua Hicks I agree
I had no idea y'all were gonna be in Bristol! Gotta start watching your schedule, that's 15 minutes from home.
These guys are so humble and understand how to win and lose
3 people in a row have no idea how a pro tree works.
Please get Leroy in the 7's again.
I will always vote for Leroy 🖒
I'm so proud of you and Leroy! You did your best, I expect more to come! Great job!
Awesome race 👍 have you thought about making Leroy more aerodynamic? Just a thought
Damn bro, you making the competition nervous!! Got em red lighting and shit, they shaking in there boots boy!! Keep up the killer driving bro!! 💪👊🇺🇲 🦅
The level of good sportsmanship portrayed in your work should be a lesson learned for many others (not just motorsports)
I'm going to get some hate but I think leroy need some body panels, maybe some clear panels would help his et's
Exactly. Aerodynamics is key
chris a it would definitely help but that would take away from the whole theme
@@shepss217 quicker times mean a little more than the theme.. things change over time
And missing 4 doesn't help 😅
Time to sort your aero game out and move those turbos downwards Cleeter
I agree Leroy has ( or will have ) issues due to no aero........but that ain't what caused them to lose this race. It was at the take off. Gearing & suspension, among other things is what it's going to take to solve their current problem of moving that car off the line.
@@howabouthetruth2157 I understand but I think the real problem is Leroy is no longer the fastest stick shift car...doing all the above won't hit 7.55s without aero in my opinion
How'd I miss this vid?
Cleetus, loses and is an extremely HAPPY guy. Class.
PURE CLASS
Awesome.
...
Cleetus sandbagging till IDS makes James his rear end set up for his 240 LOLOL
Can you please make lehroy a champ again, I wanna see lehroy run a 4.90 in the 1/8th
Why do you spell Leroy like Hank Hill is saying it?
That what proper aerodynamic works. It awesome to see how positive cleetus and team are..
James without the beard and with that hoodie looks like a teenager 😂
Damn 😂😂 12:49 didnt know my drunk ass was that loud! I made the beer comment 😂 yall ran good! Stoked as hell to finally see leroy in person! Hope i get to again soon!!
Don't worry, no one can hear what you said.
I heard "bog deep" haha
You guys are a real class act....sportsmanship at its best.
Whats going on with your rear alignment? seems like its had an issue for a while. A wall trip will follow at some point if you dont fix it :(
Yeah, on every launch the rear goes right and he has to turn the wheel right a quarter turn to counter it. Not good
I've been wondering the same. I know they bench tuned the rear, but it needs to go on a laser alignment rack with some race car experience to get dialed in.
Leroy's frame is a bit bent out of shape. Likely it.
Leroy has a bent frame and is a salvage car. I'm guess its that.
@@CoochieKissKing true, but the issue still remains. its time to get it launching nice and straight before its straight into the wall.
Yes brake lever return spring. Tires. But you guys know that. Also rear end re alignment James knows...
Cleetus that's the sort of attitude we should teach our kids, it doesn't matter where you finish as long as you give it your all.
Enjoy the racing for what it is & enjoy your sucess & enjoy your competitors success. It's a really good guide for kids to learn as they grow up, cleetus your a star mate you might not have won but who cares it was one hell of a race. Your a really great dude cleetus
Your parents should be very proud of you. Love ya brother. RustyinOz
Damn he was flyin'!
Cleetus, you really got to stay away from the whole "Boggin' Deep"-yell, dude!
Leroy doesn't understand! He thinks you mean boggin' down! He's just tryin'to please...
Ya'll should go back to "Full Pull!!" It's what he knows man!
#Sevens4DaWin
I don't think he liked that saying either, He aint no Fat ass tractor...
You should have IDS build Coopers 2J lol seem like they know what they’re doing
