I don’t know what I enjoy more: the music and background content, or your enthusiasm. Clearly, you love what you do, and it’s infectious-I smash the like button every time. Looking forward to the NEEXXXXT video
I keep going over and over that Green Onions portion because, believe it or not, you are one of the very few people who actually play it correctly and get it to sound very close to the original recording. I've seen and heard countless musicians play that riff wrong - professionals included.
I get that there's a difference between "doing your own thing" and just simply playing something wrong but what a boring world we would live in if everybody played it like the recoed
@@jocosaway3676In some rare cases, a simple-sounding musical idea has a brilliance that is neither immediate nor obvious to everyone. "Interpreting" this idea differently has nothing to do with creativity, but with a lack of understanding and ability. Oftentimes, it's not even the notes but the way they're played like with the Smoke on the Water riff. Simplicity also leaves little room for alternatives to a particular style of playing, which means that only one way can be considered by far the best. This is exactly the case when Booker plays his Green Onions riff and only then does it sounds really outstanding. A lot of people don't think too much of Booker because he isn't a virtuoso player. However, if they took a closer look at what he does they will change their mind. The way he plays and arranges his organ parts is masterful and not at all obvious at first.
Green Onions is just such an iconic track. Terse, tight sounds... leaving lots of 'space' that many would have filled with more sound, but they were masters of "less was more". Nothing hogs the limelight, every instrument is equal and nothing is extraneous or swamped. Definitely deserving of it's no. spot.
Awesome, DM. Going to recommend that if ever you feel like triggering the software organ from the MIDI controller isn’t filling in for you, you should lay hands on an instrument from the Roland V-Combo line. Aside from being a convincing clone wheel organ with highly believable rotary simulator, it also includes a transistor organ section. What’s more, there are options for the 61-note range associated with the Hammond organ and the 73-note range associated with the Rhodes piano. One thing I miss about the latter is that it uses real waterfall keys.
Everybody is waiting for the 2022 Christmas special compilation with all the 'neeext' and 'sintah-sizers' in one video. Pending the Doctor's prescription of course. Thanks for another great year of enthusiasm, positive vibes and awesome fingerplay!
This was one of my first vsts and my first organ vst. I started using it when we were locked down a couple of years ago and I got into recording. I love it!
Man that opening... eargasm! Gypsy Woman's riff is heavenly. It has the property that it suits whatever mood you are in. My choice if I had to land in a deserted island with only one track.
imho there cannot be a top 5, hell even a top 3 iconic organ riffs without Light My Fire (Doors) or House of the Rising Sun (Animals)'s iconic solo. Great list though, and great playing too. Keep it up!

Aside from being the best country in the world and having the best food and drink, the Italians are unsung heroes in electronic music. If it wasn’t for Italy we wouldn’t have had electronic music like we had in the 80’s and 90’s
Its a damn good VST but not same without the Leslie speaker variable vibrato and the slight squeakiness that the Hammond’s tend to have when you hit the keys just the right way.
Thank you so much Dr Claudio, now I know the name of various songs I didnt know it but always like when listed to them, and I can practice other songs with my keyboard ;)
Not really a riff, but what comes to mind first when I think "organ" is Stephen Stills' "Love the One You're With" and the glissando into the solo. That moment stops me in my tracks everytime.
Dr mix is one of few streamer/tuber that what ever he does its good. And The sound QUALITY is the BEST. when I need to stretch my soundsystem ill play dr mix Thriller ver. !
Yeah, except he was playing Hammond Riffs. "Light My Fire" is a Vox/Farfisa sound, like "House of the Rising Sun" or "inna Gadda Da Vida." It's probably #1 in this category, though.
@@geoffk777 I didn't see anything in the description or in the video restricting it to Hammond. So, I figure anything is fair game. Light my fire was done on a VOX Continental, so are correct on the sound.

Great sounding plug-in Dr Mix. Whilst not a riff, I would've liked to have heard Alan Price's organ solo from The Animals' "House of the Rising Sun" played on this VST. Keep up the fantastic content!
This was awesome! Curious if you have any insights to a VST for an ARP ProSoloist. I’ve recently built a midi rig and to learn old Genesis songs and Tony Banks used an ARP ProSoloist… can’t find a VST for this anywhere. HELP please. Thank you! 😊
I'm so happy to see more good instruments with higher technology than just using samples. When I was a kid I used to imagine a futuristic world where we'd have amazing physically modeled instruments that you could morph together in a couple years... AND IT NEVER HAPPENED! Instead the developers only created a bunch of crappy sample instruments and called it Komplete.
Maybe it's not only because the developpers are "lazy" but also because it's very difficult to have a good sounding modeled instrument? And the b3 is one of the easiest one to model (see the hoax3 board), accoustic instruments like the piano are much more complex
@@yvescolin6169 exactly - especially as the model has to create the sound we _expect_ to hear rather than a merely accurate emulation. It's like a movie fight scene - if they used accurate foley the punters would be complaining how lame the sound was - but there would be a lot less waste of watermelon! 🍉😀
@@yvescolin6169 Well, I don't agree with your idea that a B-3 is one of the easiest instruments to model... There is a lot of electromagnetic interference going on in those huge bundles of cables, let alone the way the 9 switches underneath each key make contact one after another. It's like the sympathic resonance of a piano's strings different on each key combination you have. I've never heard any clone wheel organ that completely convincingly sounds like the real thing (where by the way you can identify from the sound in which factory they were made)
Thanks, another great video! Back in the 90's Crystal Waters - Gypsy Woman, Bellini - Carnaval and Black Legend - You See The Trouble With Me definetely sounded like Korg M1 or Korg O1 PercOrgan2 tone to me. All the best 🤗
What a great way to start the weekend! Would it be possible to provide midi files or sheet music. I know it means more work but it would be great to be able to play along.

Even your brilliant playing doesn't bring life to that plugin - because there's no life in that plugin. I think it is not among the best "B3" plugins. Cheers, Renee
I was also underwhelmed by the sterile and lifeless sound. No growl, no significant key click, no Leslie noise and spin - the only piece it was appropriate for was ‘Gipsy Woman‘.
I remember when that horrible Gypsy Woman was played on radio roughly 20 times an hour. I stopped listening to any kind of radio then. Forever. Too much torture for someone who was exposed to radio music, radio ads and radio news in an office. Don't know how ppl can stand this. Ladadiladadaladadiladada!

I love the dirty beat-up organ tone of "Gimme some Lovin'"
CollaB3 is great, been using it for a couple of years
Yes! Number one is Green onions. That's what came into my mind when I saw your title.
Acoustic Samples B5 V3 is a great sounding VST.
Was counting on Green Onions as the ultimate organ riff. Booker T Jones deserves no.1 position. Great selection and in the correct order.
Green Onions I was not expecting, but was thrilled to hear!
I almost stopped on the Procol Harum.... it's a unbelievable song
My friend, the happiness you radiate when you are playing. you are in your sauce

"The Doors: Light My Fire" is another good one.

No The Doors "Light my Fire"???! OMG!
Expected Green Onions and was not disappointed ❤❤
Well done!!
I kinda missed the guitar twang that comes in in the latter part of this piece,
Wish you had added "Lazy" from Deep Purple. Perhaps another video? Some of the most iconic organ riffs
Or maybe ‘Child in Time’
Yes and what about Perfect Strangers

The Made in Japan intro 😁 Complete with overdrive and crazy ring modulation
