We are aware that this is not the Original Voice of Swami ji. Sorry for not mentioning it in the video. However, the words themselves are so powerful that they leave you in awe nonetheless
And clearly this speaker did a great job... Sabine got very emotional within the first minute 😅

Aham sarvasya Prabhavo Mataham sarvam pravartate...
Iti matva bhajate maam bhuta bhava saman vitah.
      10.8 of Bhagavad-Gita
      Translation
I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.
Svami vivekananda quoted and took reference mostly from Bhagavad-Gita which was spoken by the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna.
If you surrender to to the knowledge from Bhagavad-Gita, then you will realize that Krishna is the Asolute Supreme Lord in person for all in this world.
He is neither Hindu, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist etc...
He is God without distinction of any religion.
Only thru true pure love of God one can know this.
It is called Bhakti- devotion and service to Him in Love.

Swami Vivekananda was only 30 years old at that time but he had such enlightened thinking. Proud to be Hindu 🕉️. A tradition of TOLERANCE .& ACCEPTANCE OF ALL If ONLY Abrahamic faiths had the wisdom to be like Dharmic tradition, there will be very little HUMAN TO HUMAN violence in this world. Long live Dharmic wisdom.

Being a student of Swami Vivekananda's life and work, there are a few things: 1. This speech is partial and not the first day's speech. The start is from Day 1, I think it was September 11, 1893. But then the complete speech is from a later date. Anyways, it does not reduce the quality of the speech. But, the complete speech from beginning to end paints the full picture. 2. This speech has two portions, first is the explanation of God and why we suffer, and the second portion is why there is idolatry in Hinduism and what it means. Sabine teared up multiple times during the first portion. This is a question Swamiji struggled with in his early life. The second portion was addressing religious bigotry he and others faced during that time in the West. He explained that all religions are the same, and though they may take different paths, the destination is the same. In 1893, US was not the world leader, but Swamiji loved USA and believed that a new dawn is coming to US. And it did. There are books on Shree Ramakrishna and Swamiji in Ramakrishna Mission. Those books may help. Some of the books I read, are fascinating, but are not in English. I think reading Swamiji's life is a great way to understand what he is really talking about.

It was this speech that kick started spread of sanatana dharma in western scholars. Nicola tesla, Einstein , oppenheimer and many more great minds were the product of it. This speech changed western landscape of thinkers forever. It shattred the persived limits of human brilliance in west. Hence it is still considered iconic even after more than 125 years.🙏😊

Thank you very much for presenting this well known historical speech made by Sree Vivekanada Swami in Chicago more than one hundred years ago. I am a Hindu and only heard about this historical speech when I was studying in in my 9th grade school by our English language teacher Sree M . G. Menon Sir about 64years ago. Our teacher told us , apart from the speech, the most thing that impressed the American audience was the the very welcoming introduction word “ My Dear Brothers and Sisters Of America “

He is the One, the Creator of all, the Ruler of all, the Internal Soul of every being - He who makes His Oneness manifold. Thus sages who realise Him as the Soul of their souls, unto them belongs eternal peace; unto none else, unto none else.

Roger’s perspective is fabulous. I love how well he understood what Swāmi Vivekaananda said…It’s really that simple - We are all one life, one consciousness. Everything else is just an expression, a names, forms and functions and labels.

Vivekananda was so masterful and one of the greatest sons/daughters of the world. This speech amazes me to date. Anyone who wants to learn about India, start from this video. Of course at times such new people would find it distraught if they see somethings in India even today. But that's the beauty of humans.

My Dear brother and sister, very well presented.
My brother was very eloquent in his post discourse. However, what caught my humble attention was my sister's genuine feelings coming through her eyes and mannerisms.
    Good on you both.
Wish you gain the perfect bliss and the absolute peace comes with it.

Swamiji spoke with distinct Irish accent probably because of his education at Irish led instititute at Calcutta. He had a deep sonorous voice and captivating tone and tenor am told. This particular speech was mesmerising considering the situation in 1893 -130 yrs ago.
