    I'm so glad you gave your insight about this video! I actually came across it a few months ago, and as a Canadian, had some good laughs. 😄 Much of it is very charming, but the jealousy is a big red flag here. A bit is normal, of course, but a man not allowing you to do things like speaking to other men is incredibly controlling and often a sign of someone abusive. Not teaching your kids, either sons or daughters, to do chores, have responsibilities, etc, is seen as not preparing them well for adulthood.
    There does seem to be a certain charm to many Turkish men. I've been learning a lot about Turkey over the past year or so, and would love to visit some day!

      Same here in the U.S.
      Just the phrase “let her” is a red flag, as an American woman, I do what I want and talk to who I want, I don’t need anyone to let me do anything.
      There are a few guys whose moms take care of everything for these, and many jokes are made about them being “ momma’s boys”.

      Im pretty sure the women are equally jealous too. I think it goes to this whole idea of people actually believe in like my one true love etc. But that said a lot of Turkish men and probably women are just looking for something casual.

    • @thomasbroleen4241
      @thomasbroleen4241 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crystal come to the UK, English women are the most controlling on planet earth, most English men have to run their social life plans past their female partners before they're allowed to do anything.

      Honestly, the jealousy part is just extremely toxic. Another problem we have here is that that in some parts of Turkey it is EXPECTED to be like that. Women will think you are a coward and a weak person if you don't abuse them under the guise of "jealousy". I even had a friend tell me that she feels sad and unloved because her boyfriend doesn't verbally assault her when she wears a crop-top. Of course this is not a general rule or something like that. A lot of people here are sick of this "culture" and have healthy relationships. But running into the people in the former group does make you feel like they are in some weird fetish cult.

He always tells me that he loves me and that he see a future with me. When he told me this at first I wasn’t sure how to take it but than I really like that he shows me this with actions as well as words 😊 He is perfect just the way is he and I wouldn’t change anything about him ☺️

    The macho man mentality is very common for the countries in the region. It is good that you still have traditional values. I also see that marriage is very important in your country. I have mixed feelings about it. A lot of people may rush in to marriage because they feel the pressure from society but latter on they receive even more disapproval, if they are divorced.

    fellas not everyone was born in big cities like izmir, istanbul, ankara. There are 60 million people living in Anatolia. Especially in Anatolia there are too many such dogmas and indeed what is described here is true for most. but in capital cities in areas with high levels of education most of these situations are not true. Especially the "turkish men are jealous" part. Everyone is jealous of their loved ones. But that doesn't mean you put your partner in cage. although the subject of circumcision is currently being discussed, but a man who is not circumcised cannot get married in anatolia its true :D The country is in such a bad situation that Turkish men are starting to see foreign women as Schengen visas specially europeans.If you hear a lot about marriage, i recommending you to be suspicious of this situation :D

    The true test is what he/she is going to do when the person he/she loves is seriously ill. Can he/she find a cure even if the doctors say no? Can the person use his/her brains/money to help the person he/she loves? This does not even require marriage. What is possessiveness when a man/woman cannot even help the person he/she loves? Possessiveness and love are 2 different issues. Charles Dickens wrote A Tale of Two Cities. One man sacrifices himself for the woman he loves so she can be together with another man that she loves. Isn't it she chose the wrong man?

    A Turkish mother sounds just like an Irish mother. I think the 2 cultures are very similiar.....except after marriage we are not so enmeshed with family of origin and most have boundaries around visiting especially unannounced. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪

    I have been dating a Turkish man online for morethan a year we have alot of plan for the future like getting married having a children and already planning to meet this December, but things end when we have a fight that he started for the first time he keep pushing me away saying leave him Alon abandoned him I don't deserve an irresponsible person like him and more, I did still chatting him to fix our relationship but he just seen my messages and not responding at all. So weird he give up so easily like we don't have commitments to each other

      It sounds like he is trying to get out of the relationship without manning up and saying that. He could also be cheating. I seriously hope not but it doesn't sound good because a man would be persistent and fight for his love and push you away if you didn't do anything. I also know that's the truth for Turkish culture generally.

    Hi, can you explain why a Turkish man would ask me to take 1 grape from the bunch of grapes that I offered to him as a gift? He had already eaten one or two. I declined to take a grape since it is a gift for him, but he insisted. I asked "Why?" and he refused to say. He just kept asking me to take one. So I took a grape from the bunch but didn't eat it. He was satisfied with that. I think this is related to Turkish etiquette.

Who is a brilliant actor. Saw two of his movies. Watched him in My name is Fehria. Currently watching between The Protector Medcezir and Icerde. TH-cam has many great channels and links for this. Do you know by chance if there is a place to watch or a way to watch on TH-cam. With English subtitles includes. Thanks I just subscribed and became a contributor. Checking it out. I dated a Turkish man for years best relationship ever,… until it wasn’t.
    His family was okay with him being gay at first as long as nobody knew.
    We bought a beautiful villa together, two cars, started a business together… a few years down the line and… they would not stop insisting that he get married or at least have a child… or as a last resort they offered to marry him to his third cousin (a woman) so people would not talk.
    It hurt me but I sold everything, gave him a modest settlement and left him.
    I understand the culture, but honestly… why care about what people think if we had such a good life together and lived in a private secluded setting?? 🧐

    Lots of very similar traits to Pakistani guys (not the exceptions).
    1. I think saying anything to get them (pull them as we’d say in the U.K.) is probably quite typical & we also wouldn’t pursue em if they said they were already taken.
    2. Pakistani guys normally get in to a relationship to marry & start a family as well. The same pressures from the friends & family.
    3. We offer niyaz (sacrifice) on circumcision. It’s an Islamic tradition which all Muslims will do.
    4. Pakistani men also don’t like to portray themselves as weak and emotional. We prefer the masculine macho image where nothing can phase us. We’re also raised in the same environment where portraying emotion such as crying is interpreted as being weak or feminine.
    5. We also don’t want to know the past history and neither does she need to know ours (preferably she doesn’t have a past ;) ).
    The protective jealousy is a natural trait in masculine males (we refer to those that do not have this as dayooth - our religion says a man should have this protective jealousy). And be cause of this We don’t like our females going out and/or interacting with other males unnecessarily (same applies vice versa).
    5. Pakistani guys don’t talk about their family outside of the home with their friends … the idea of chillin with the boys is that we don’t talk about anything family…. No stress and all good vibes. All family related stuff is pvt.
    6. Pakistani boys are also mummy’s boys and given special treatment and treated like absolute kings compared to their sisters.
    7. Family also comes first for us guys in the exact same way.
    That’s my take on it… obviously there’s exceptions to the above but that’s the general norm.

    • @RandPersonn
      @RandPersonn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think rather than most of those traits being a Pakistani, Turkish or Middle Eastern thing, they were and still are quite common characteristics that one can see in many parts of the world regardless of country, ethnicity, religion. Many Christian religious black men also share some of those characteristics or Greeks, even some traditional Chinese men(East Asian men being portrayed as "feminine, non-macho is really a recent thing. If one looked at traditional historical depictions of Chinese men, one would easily see that sexism, machoism, masculine characteristics are also common in Chinese tradition.). Same goes for other religious conservative cultures like traditional European Christians, Protestant Americans, many Mormons etc.

    • @isadoratarsila5344
      @isadoratarsila5344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@veraladin I am learning Turkish, just beggining to. As far as I understand the vowel sound [u] sound like the "w" letter in English. I think the confusion comes from orthography, I mean how the words are written. If you stop thinking about "w" and how weird it is because it is noty in your Alphabet, etc. and you begin to think that letter sounds like [u] vowel in your language, I think you can solve it and pronounce correctly. It is not a strange sound for Turkish, it is only the letter "w" that is not familiar.
      Regards! Görüşürüz!
