Wakulla Spring is the largest, deepest and most mysterious of all Florida's First Magnitude Springs.
This is a special place where humans and animals have gathered from prehistory to the present day
Wakulla Head Spring rises 315 feet from the floor of the Florida Aquifer.
It discharges 260,000,000 gallons of clear, clean, sapphire blue fresh water every day. That's an amazing amount, this phenomenally large outflow creates the 9 mile long Wakulla River.
Wakulla is a Native American word meaning "Mysterious Waters"

Alligators are intriguing creatures. Don't be fooled by their laid back appearance, it's part of their hunting technique, they are truly fast, deadly ambush predators
Beware that entering the water can be very dangerous, swim only in designated safe areas.
Because of it's primeval, prehistorical feel, Wakulla Springs has been the preferred location for several Hollywood movies: early Tarzan movies as well as the horror movie " Creature from the Black Lagoon were made here.
