    Hello from Arkansas USA - AMP Q, When using the Mel 9, what are your AMP settings? All at 12 o'clock (neutral) or you remain in your daily setup. I think my girlfriend who just started Bass in January, will be getting one of these for her Birthday in June . . . Rock on . . . Jim

    Well there's a bunch more money I need to spend. This in the fx loop of my sy200 will bring me great joy I can tell. The sy200 is awesome and has so many great sounds but it doesn't do that......

    Crikey! That's one nifty pedal! Either our bass player will get one of these, or I will! Right up our street, it is. Instant King Crimson/Early Genesis!
    EDIT: The outtro jam sounds allmost like a hitherto undiscovered track that Motorpsycho did for the Angels And Daemons At Play- album in '97. And that is a GOOD thing.

    Jesus H, you have really shown what this pedal is capable of doing in this vid. I've thought about this pedal for a while, sounds fantastic, I've been watching the second-hand market (I'm relatively poor), and no one is selling, who can blame them. I may have to save up for a brand new one! (shock horror).
    Question :- Why is it that the only really good videos on this pedal I've seen, the videos that really emphasise what can be achieved with this lovely box of magic, have been put out by you Cici, and your good friend Dave?
    Is no one else paying attention?
    This is such a fantastic toy of joy, how can the rest of the TH-cam world, be somehow unaware of its genius?

    • @CiciVonStrangelove
      @CiciVonStrangelove  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh wow, thank you so much!! It means a lot to hear that, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it and that I could do the pedal some kind of justice, it really deserves to be heard! Hope you’re able to get your hands on one soon, I totally understand that, I saved up for a long time to get mine and it was difficult to get hold of! But I have no doubts you’ll get your hands on one when the time is right :) Thanks again!

    Can you play an acoustic guitar or electric CiCi ? i know bass guitar is your thing, But just wondering if you tinker around with guitar also? have you ever picked up one of Daves Guitars?

    The best part of this pedal is watching Cici review it.
    Cici, u should modify the title and add - ASMR - to it. Very s-m-o-o-t-h.

    Really very interesting your iterative quasi Reich sounding with all these choirs, synths, cellos and strings stupendously resounding as a indeed musically gifted work - as a mantra -, dealling with bass and pedals like this. Congratulations by this achievement! Would say these contrary attacks of notes recorded were fabulous. Just suggest to put emphasis on crescendo fantasies with your instrument, maybe with a climax in the middle...

    Good demo.
    The Mel9 is the heart of my main guitar board. It also works well for my duo partner's electro-harp.

    I bought the key 9 two days ago and I am still waiting for arrival
    I don't stop to watch videos about key 9 and all 9 series and I am loving the Mel 9.
    I will go to bankrupt due to this pedals

  • @blindjusticeandcommonsense2786

    Ooh, interesting. In some ways the Mel9 could suit bass better because of the way that bass speakers can be voiced (with or without a horn) for a wider and flatter frequency range than most guitar speakers.
    Blending in the bass works really well in the video.
    Cool pedal and a great demo video. Plenty there that is super useable and musical.

    Great demo! You should check out the Elertro Harmonix POG2. I think you'll really like it.

  • @SisterRose
    @SisterRose 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    only thing that kind of sucks for bass is a lack of pitch control - you have a lot more range with a regular guitar which is what it's designed for but if you're using an old school 4 string P or Jazz Bass you won't get as much range. I like the idea of being able to play low notes on the bass and have a higher accompaniment. could be very cool for a "Bass Forward" band where Bass is the main instrument to fill out the mix with retro vibes

    I’d highly recommend the new 9 pedal from Electro Harmonix, it’s the String9 and it has a few amazing surprises that I think you’ll love…no, you’ll adore it…at the end of your life you’ll want your String9 to be buried with you…well if you are anything like me you will.

    Dave turned me on to this incredible pedal.😁😎👍
    Got lost for hours when 1st plugging in😁
    Best piece of kit ever to enhance my music😉👍
    Thanks Dave😉😁👍
    If you boost the guitars signal a bit with say...a compressor, in front of Mel, you might/could get better tracking on lowesr notes on the bass😉
    Beautiful piece you've created for this video CiCi👍👍👍❤
    Thanks for showcasing Mel😉
    😎👍❤🖖

    thanks!!! this is the review I needed. Half of the sound presets I didn't like (sax, brass, both choirs), and the others sound quite similar BUT the sounds that I did like, I fell in love with. I want one now. Also a 16 minute bass-only jam? *cheff kiss*
    Definitely subscribing

  • @DarrellW_UK
    @DarrellW_UK ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great playthings aren’t they? I’ve got a Mel9 for my guitar that I sometimes use with an Octave pedal to emulate a bass, when I get my bass I won’t need the octave pedal or will I? 😂
    You can get some pretty amazing sounds with it, I’m guessing that you will keep that one 😂
    The only thing I find is that I think a fretless instrument would work better, and no I’m not going to remove my frets 😂😂😂
    If your online policy allows it I’ll see if I can record something and give you a link to my Google drive.
    Edit I didn’t quite get to the end before your jam before I said I thought it was a keeper - right wasn’t I 🤪🤪🤪

  • @gwugluud
    @gwugluud 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Seems I saw some other demo-er state this was largely unusable on bass. Sounds interesting and good here imo.

    • @CiciVonStrangelove
      @CiciVonStrangelove  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely not largely unusable. Very very usable! The only time it struggles is if you’re playing very low notes, but playing notes that low is irrelevant because the pedal only goes down to a certain octave anyway, so if you play an E on the 12th fret or the open string, the octave is the same from that point, the only difference being that the pedal tracks much better from the 12th fret upwards on the E string. I used this pedal for another song on my channel called All Quiet, it was all improvised and layered and the pedal held up amazingly as the star of the show

    god i love the lofi glitchy "orchestra shoved in a can" sound of the Mellotron, ideally i'd just get an MIDI thing and use VSTs but this is tempting me for ease of use.
