  • Hi Everyone. I have been trying to make some giant open bezels for a while and I think I have finally hit on an awesome way to not only make them, but to make the giant open backed bezels without the resin leaking out when they are filled.

This would work great as a faux stained glass project

Did you know that you can use black threads instead of drawing those lines in, to make a more delicate effect of veining in the petals? It also works well for insect and butterfly wings

Wow! When you put the flower bezel on the blue piece it really popped! Enjoy your coffee ;)

I've done a lot of tracing pictures with wire. I love the idea of adding resin to what I do as well. This is a great idea to use up the flat wire I have. I do have a tip to pass on. Tape a clear plastic sheet (like a sheet protector) on top of what you are tracing, then as you are tracing, use tape on the wire to keep it in place. It helps a lot, especially with more intricate pieces. Once it is finished, just take off all of the tape. Plus, you can use both the picture and the plastic sheet again. Great for those of us that make multiples to sell! Or if you don't want to wreck the picture.

A fun project to get the creative juices flowing - I do have one teensy tiny little tip to throw in - instead of using tape to connect the wire ends, I’ve had great success using sculpy clay. You would use the flush cutters to get a nice straight cut, line the ends up together and connect on your contact paper, then fasten a small chunk of sculpy to block any resin from leaking out. When finished, remove the sculpy and it can be used again.

Just a note to keep wire straight: take two small blocks of wood and run the wire in between them (while holding wood with slight pressure) 😬👍🏼

This looks fantastic! Another project to add to my ever growing list 😅 I was looking for a way to create a stained glass style piece without acetate stuck to the back of it and this technique looks perfect for that!

Have you tried nail polish stamping on resin? IT WORKS and it's amazing! Especially with metallic polish, you can make some incredible effects that way!

Absolutely amazing... I see butterflies and so many other things that can be done with this!! You did a video some time ago where you made smaller bezals for jewelry and I thought then that if you could make small ones why not any size?? Love that you proved my thinking to be right.
As always stay safe and stay crafty👍👍🔔🔔🦋🦋

Just came back and rewatched this as I couldn't remember how you stuck the bezel down - thought it was glued to acetate, but clearly not! Need to get some clear vinyl. :-) Did you find the 'sticky' side was a matt finish though?

Ohh I'm thinking a flower with a fine glitter in the petals. That blue board you had would look really nice with that moon/resin lamp you made stuck to it. Or the galaxies you made with acitate plastic.

You could do different parts to a buid a "stained glass" piece and put in your window, coudn't you? The metal being the "led" and in the end put it all together and pour resin in between the parts to make it all the same level? Maybe you have done that in another video (sorry if I missed that!).

Do you think the UV resin would have held the flower shut better I'm just wondering maybe it wouldn't have held it at all but the UV resin would have sucked to the regular resin and if you're trying to pop it out afterwards it might not work so well but anyways I'm just blabber and I'm only a couple minutes into the video
