I am VERY new to resin art and casting. I came across your “tips and tricks” and have been binge watching a huge amount of your videos all morning. I definitely owe you a cup of coffee for all that I’ve learned! I have 2 questions if I may for this video… I have ordered a tea light candle mold for a project I want to do. No where (that I’ve seen in the order sight) does it mention to NOT use a real tea candle. As a matter of fact, the image shows a lit tea light candle. Why is this a no-no if it is sold for this purpose? Question 2; how long do I let it cure for? I’m never sure how long to let it sit. For the deep/thick (not sure of correct terms!) molds like this elephant or the ones I ordered (globe and river rock shape) I imagine it would take quite a while? A full 24 hours? 48?

The ads aren’t always honest in their portrayal of use. Cured resin is not heat resistant enough to withstand flame, at least to my knowledge. The little battery-operated tea lights would work

I'm with you on tea lights, battery ones only, yet still people sell candle holders etc without warning that they are not safe for ordinary candles.
I emailed a supplier ages back about food safe resin. They said what you have, it's incidental use, so food touching is ok but not to be used solely for food. Also once we add colours, flowers, glitters etc that changes properties and even " food safe" resins can change.
I sell a few resin bowls, and always say in description it's not food safe, so if using as fruit bowl to use something like piece of kitchen roll as a barrier.
Safety is so important.

I see a lot of resin casters 'pre soaking' their inclusions in resin before they put them in a large mold... what are your thoughts on that? It seems to work really well....

My dentist just filled my teeth with a resin composite, so not all resin is toxic (I specifically asked him what he was using). Or, at least, it better not be. We have fairly strict safety regulations in Canada, so I'm sure it's fine.

I thought if you use real flowers that they spoil and look bad after a while in the rosen.
They do rot that is why Steve used dried flowers in this project
