i still don't get how so many people are convinced this is a jury winner when juries have a notorious history of marking down popera, rap, AND frankensongs so why on earth would they all give their top points to something that mixes it all this year

Why NEMO and Switzerland will win EUROVISION 2024 : Because they clearly have the WOW/special moment in the part after the bridge. Neither Croatia or Italy or the Netherlands or Ukraine have this in their songs, no matter how good they are. Think about it. Listen to these songs and find "The Moment". There isn't any. You may love these songs (the style, the melody, the rhythm) but where is the special moment? Many people, me included want to dance to that part live, its awesome and its also a genre invented in the netherlands, and something they have never done at eurovision. (I dont think Netherlands will win, but just saying they do actually have that moment).
I came here to say what I see has already been said lol, but yeah the beat drop (if that's the right word for it) in Europapa was definitely a wow moment for me the first time I heard it. It instantly made me want to get up out of my chair and dance, which I don't think any of the other Eurovision songs this year has done for me. I also think of the outro that almost immediately follows the beat drop/dance break is a kind of wow moment, as it took me completely off guard the first time I heard it. It's like the song gets you up and makes you dance your ass off for a little while and then very quickly brings you back down to earth.
Dance break is Croatia's wow moment. The opera part of "The Code" will not be as impactful if Raiven gets to the final and will be before Nemo in the running order since she has a more impressive opera part (and sings it better, which is understandable since she is a classically trained mezzo-soprano).
I kinda agree with you, except with italy. Italy kinda has the moment towards the end when she sings acapella and the bursts out into the last chorus. Thats why i think italy is actually the biggest competition for Nemo. But i agree that Switzerland definitely has the best and should win this year.

Regarding pros I can add some. You are talking mostly about the song but it is a tv show not a spotify contest. You don´t need the best song to win. You need the best overal packaging. It is an artist with enormous charisma and charm. That is a plus too. That makes you react more positive to the passion he shows. Aldough there are several different kind of musicstyles everything follow a flow that feels natural and at the same time makes you hooked. It realy fits the lazy young people now with an attentionspan of seconds. :D Then already when you see the video it is obvious that the song is made for a stage and will be something realy grand and I atleast can´t see them not succeeding with that. Everything seems so well though out from the start. Then also talking about the lyric. I am am white man and I can find songs about being non binary totaly uninteresting, but this lyric is so well ritten that it fits people not relating to that thing. That is a real strength. "I went to hell and back" could be the feeling of anyone who have been close to the rock bottom. Being stuck in some kind of addiction for instance or have lost the feeling of who you are. So for me this is not a song of being non binary. I can decide for my self what it is about and so can everyone else. That is the strengh of it that makes it brilliant. You don´t loose point from people feeling it is to much, something you either can´t stand, don´t want to hear or get anoyed about. He is not in your face so to say. That is my opinion. You also say that the song is a grower, but that is not the case on stage when people se the show. So therefore it is not relevant how many listens you need at spotify so to say. it is a relevant point that opera and rap ussualy doesn´t get rewarded but at the same time jurys reward quillity and this is not like other entrys you compare with and it is done with quallity. One example of that would be Channel. Did you need to understand what Lordi sang about to vote for Lordi? Ofcourse you did not. :D Would Lordi have won if they looked like everyday men? Ofcourse not. You have you minutes to shock and get the audience hooked, so you will be remembered. If you see something you never have seen before it can be what makes the difference.
very interesting video ! I think there might be a Conchita Wurst effect, where the LGBTQIA+ community is strongly supporting switzerland in the televote, and with a good jury result (for all the good reasons you mentioned), we might see a swiss win (as a swiss person, this would be a great moment, allow me to be not completely neutral this time)
@@chiasanzes9770yeah, Conchita song was super overrated I think he won because of the “controversy” meanwhile Nemo’s song is beautifully produced and clear winner song, couldn’t care less about its message
It could win. It will depend on the staging / how it's filmed / live vocals (which have been perfect thus far). I think it's more a thing that another country might score a bit more points.
i would definitely not be angry with switserland winning. i'm sure he'll do well (enough) with the juries, i'm more so worried about the televote. a 3-minute song that merges cabaret, opera, rap, drum and base in a performance that will surely be super eye-catching might be too chaotic for the average viewer
To my mind the main contra argument is that the code has not enough streams and views. While these digits are usually influenced by the home country (like Italy always has big streaming numbers) and the prior popularity of the artist (like Joost Klein’s fans), I feel like the potential winner should still attract a lot of attention on the streaming platforms. But Nemo’s numbers are pretty low which means that people don’t really enjoy listening to the song. Most probably appreciate its creativity but are not ready to listen to it every day.
Why Nemo might win: there's an edge and angst in this song which gives it great authenticity. This is someone's life story which makes it very compelling. It's a musical tour de force, brilliantly sung, with moments of great vulnerability that draw you in. Cons: the message and whole point of the song might be lost if the staging goes overboard.
Interesting food for thought...I would be perfectly content for Nemo to win. I love the song and they are a really good performer and singer with a disarmingly sweet demeanor about them. But I also recognize the contra's. I am really looking forward to the staging.
Wow, congrats, you did a very interesting video on pros and cons! For me the greatest threat for Nemo is staging. Nemos strength is his insane voice and his power and personalty on stage. If they build up a „crazy“ staging Nemo will loose the focus on his assets. As a Swiss I surely hope he‘ll win, but anyway he‘s a great discovery for our music scene.
There are many very competitive entries this year and Nemo is certainly one of them. I won't make any predictions - I never do - but I think they will at least be in the Top 10. I also think that a slew of negative comments on this video about Nemo's song is not a metric to go by. Videos like this are inherently polarising and people are more likely to comment if they disagree. Especially, because ESC community is known for being unable to handle disagreement over trivial matters. That being said, they aren't my personal favourite and I'd much rather see Ireland, Greece or Croatia win. I'd also be happy with Norway winning. It's a tough year and, frankly, many artists would be perfectly respectable winners in 2024.
I love Nemo, the song is experimental and catchy at the same time and they are so likeable. The only tiny criticism I have is their dress sense which they need to tone down just a little bit. Definitely top 3 for Nemo but you are right this is a year with many excellent songs.
I adore this song. I find it to be the, perhaps objectively, most unique and perhaps even “best” song this year in the sense that it is very well written and diverse. I am non-binary myself, and thus I relate a whole lot to the message of the song. All that being said, I am having some major doubts about this song performing very well in the televote. You have to keep in mind that most Eurovision viewers are not like all of us in these comment; they don’t follow the whole process of song selection to pre-parties to rehearsals and beyond. Most viewers are casual. They know when Eurovision is, some even listen to the songs before the contest, but ultimately, they do not invest all that much time in this contest. Which is perfectly fine, as it is meant to be a fun night of songs and mayhem. But that in and of itself speaks highly against why Nemo might not end up having as many televotes. As was said in the video, the song is amazing, but part of that amazingness is hard to hear in the first, second or even third listen. When I heard this song for the first time, I wrote it off as yet another interesting but ultimately not appealing entry. It took me watching a video about it, listening to it again, and then enjoying it in peace without distractions to *fully* appreciate its beauty. I worry that most casual viewers will end up feeling the same way, and become overwhelmed to the point of near disinterest upon the few listens they will have of the song. That being said, and please note that I say this in a mostly joking manner, I really hope Switzerland does not win for one very personal reason; I want to go to Eurovision in person (for the first time) and Switzerland is just too damn expensive!!!! 😔
I bet there will be fewer televoters this year, as many people (like me) still remember 🤬😡how juries over ruled the people's choice 💚 last year 💚 but took our money with poker face on 😇 As Nemo will be jury winner, non-televoters will reassure the win to Switzerland - which is fine with me,great great song. I am not going to vote, but I will watch the final with 🍿🍺 and 🎉🥳 for the winner- Who ever it will be ❤
Switzerland is on 25% Odds within Eurovision fans bubble. It will likely get in top 5 maybe top 3 on jury points but wont be in top 5 in Public result. Italy will be in both top 5. And both Croatia & Netherlands needs a big win in Public results and top 8 in jury to win it all. Exciting times! 😅
Hello from GREECE! You do a great job, I watch all your videos. It would be interesting if you could make a video with the top 3 places you would show for songs from 2000 and later! I don't know if you'd like to get us to vote too. Thank you very much for entertaining me pleasantly!
I like this song today, but it took me several listens. At first, I was just confused, despite the video making transitions clear with the different train coaches. The Code is definitely a grower and I wonder whether two performances will be enough.
Kate Miller Heidke finished 9th and she's the closest we've had to this and she created an audience for this type of pop-ra song so I think the casual viewer will be less - what the crap then they were with Kate - because he's building on the "popra with a message" genre (and casual viewers from other countries still say things about Kate to me when they realise I am Australian - how she should have done better and the staging was the best ever). And that's the thing the staging will be big unknown here, they have to kill it big time to win - Baby Lasagna is growing in performance stature and confidence - he exudes an energy somewhere between Dadi and Damiano and that could really work for him. However when this dropped, a friend messaged me and sent me the link and said it's out there but I think I like it, but I think you'll love it (the last time he did that was the semi finals of San Remo a couple of years ago). He often pics the jury winner while I get the popular winner (and the last time we agreed was Maneskin). I loved this song from the beginning and understood it from the moment I heard it. Love the devils advocateness of these videos.
I wouldn't say opera is a detriment, after all there is recent history of those kinds of songs performing well. In 2018, Estonia sent La Forza, the definition of an opera song, and finished 8th in the final. However, a closer example would be Zero Gravity, sent by Australia the following year. While a 6th and 7th places in the jury and televote meant it would finish the final 9th, it won its semifinal, albeit the weaker one, against memorable acts like Hatrid mun sigra. I'd argue that Zero Gravity is only above The Code on the "ladies floating in the air" category. That being said, things changed a lot in these five years. People won't be afraid of throwing a hat for zari in the winners conversation, while a song people find similar to it, Telemoveis, finished 15th on that same semi
I agree that this will make a good winner. But just wondering, have other people been blocked from the Eurovision page for questioning the linguistic trans dogma?
Nemo prend un risque de chanter ce genre de chanson . Mais il a tellement de talent et de mâturité pour son âge , qu'il maitrise très bien son chant . Il a tout pour gagner . Prendre le risque peut lui valoir des points . Bravo à lui .
An opera song in the top 5- Il Volo- Grande Amore (3rd in 2015) also I think Latvia did reasonably well in 2007 with opera. Estonia in 2018 also (not top 5) but nearly
For me, this song doesn't do anything. It didn't grab any attention for me. I don't see it winning jury votes and don't see it winning public vote. Yes. it will be high but not winning. I live in a world where this is definitely not a winning song. It's overrated. But let's wait and see what Europe will decide
10:30 Debatable. Italy 2015, Estonia 2018 and Australia 2019 all finished 6th with the juries. 6th isn't bad now, is it? The latter two both did worse with the televoters, so you can't say juries hate opera. This is just the perception because they prevented Grande amore from winning. Concerning rap, I agree though. Rap has done rather poorly with the juries.
Even if Switzerland had any actual chances to win the competition, it won't win after Switzerland's placement in the semi finals. This song has no potential to win the televote to begin with. In a year with so many popular songs, Switzerland's pales in comparison. It is obvious at this point that either Netherlands or Croatia will win the televote, Italy will have better result too, and honestly I don't think it will be in the top 5 in the televote at all. In my personal opinion it doesn't deserve to win either. The song is straight up bad. It is disjoined, the opera/rap combination is weird and doesn't work and Nemo's vocal performance is all over the top. It is just too much.
Wow the song is straight up bad? It’s emotional and impactful and all the different genres work beautifully together, it’s an amazing piece that deserves to win.
I love Eurovision but this does very little for me. I don't quite see the "memorable" moment. There is no wow for me and the Eminemish "rap" part is so tired. Adding opera elements is just a gimmick. The song still needs actually to be good..
@@audi0078 sorry, I don't want to go deep in this. It was just my overall thinking. And again, I have nothing against it. Be who you wanna be and enjoy life.❤️
Can't come up with a real favourite this year and only placing songs in order as I don't find any that exciting, Switzerland and Croatia the favourite but think Norway could upset the apple cart, I don't think Italy will do as good as people think. One thing I do have this year is my last place and it's Greece,I can't connect to it as Spain last year.
Despite Nemo's pleasant, positive, and talented nature, his song doesn't have any chance to win. Before his live performances, the song was far from the top 5 leaders. Why? Because initially, the song didn't receive positive feedback; instead, it evoked a "WTF?" reaction. It was only after several listens that Eurovision fans found something unique and delightful, not in the song itself, but in Nemo. However, the majority of contest viewers won't have this opportunity; they'll only have one or two chances with the same "WTF?" reaction.
@@MultiSalkoo I assume the battle for first place will be between Ukraine and Croatia. Regardless of who wins, ESC 2025 will be held in Croatia. Why not? It's a touristic country with perfect weather in May, and not as expensive as Switzerland. So, the EBU will be happy to hold the competition there. :)
Yes, Nemo sings very well. But in the end, what I gather is that all the 'Fame' around Nemo mainly comes from two things : - The combination of styles and the difficulty in appreciating the music, which makes people feel 'above the rest' when they end up liking it... - The LGBT message (over and over)... If he wins, congratulations to him, but the song won't make Eurovision history (I think) ... PS: Another key argument, the 'allied' countries that usually vote for you, regardless of the sound, out of affinity between the two countries!!! Is Switzerland advantaged in that regard? Maybe on the jury side? Publicly, it's often disappointing ...
Interesting ideas. I think that Switzerland could win with a combination of good staging and impressive vocals (which I'm sure Nemo will deliver), but your point about the casual viewer being "weirded out", and needing a minute to digest such an out-there performance is very true. Especially if Nemo rocks up in a dress again...

🇨🇭🏆🇨🇭❤️
very interesting video ! I think there might be a Conchita Wurst effect, where the LGBTQIA+ community is strongly supporting switzerland in the televote, and with a good jury result (for all the good reasons you mentioned), we might see a swiss win (as a swiss person, this would be a great moment, allow me to be not completely neutral this time)
Haha, only Eurovision can create emotions strong enough that even Switzerland loses its neutrality! It would be a deserved victory :)
@@chiasanzes9770yeah, Conchita song was super overrated I think he won because of the “controversy” meanwhile Nemo’s song is beautifully produced and clear winner song, couldn’t care less about its message
I can’t wait!
I think Switzerland is too complex and many will fall off. I have much more belief in the Netherlands.
I see good points of your opinion. However, most public votes happened at same time as jury votes
For me your pros sound like you're talking about Germany's song. I hear vulnerability in Germany's song but none in Switzerland's song.
Interesting food for thought...I would be perfectly content for Nemo to win. I love the song and they are a really good performer and singer with a disarmingly sweet demeanor about them. But I also recognize the contra's. I am really looking forward to the staging.
He's experimental but he's not Konstrakta. Forget it
Wow, congrats, you did a very interesting video on pros and cons!
Grand Amore was opera - it was 3rd but highest televote up to that point. 6th with juries though..
I love Nemo, the song is experimental and catchy at the same time and they are so likeable. The only tiny criticism I have is their dress sense which they need to tone down just a little bit. Definitely top 3 for Nemo but you are right this is a year with many excellent songs.
clearly , this years ESC winner , go Nemo :)
I am afraid that since most ppl will be seeing nemo for the first time they won’t have had the time to grow to this song like the ESC fanbase has
That's my hope. ;)
@@AlcatrazHR why is that your hope?
@@AlcatrazHR why would you hope for that? It’s clearly the most impactful and emotion evoking song. Why hope for it to not be successful
I bet there will be fewer televoters this year, as many people (like me) still remember 🤬😡how juries over ruled the people's choice 💚 last year 💚 but took our money with poker face on 😇
As Nemo will be jury winner, non-televoters will reassure the win to Switzerland - which is fine with me,great great song.
I don't like the fact that it is in Enlgish. I really hope a song in the national language will win.
1. New haircut is really good on u 2. What’s the face routine, your face is glowing? 💫3. If u want a coffee date I am here 🫣
I'm hoping Croatia will win.
Me too
Me three
Me 4
Me 5
That video is coming soon
Will you do it for all the favourites (Croatia,Italy,Netherlands...) or just Switzerland because it's the most probable one?
All of them ;)
Ok, thanks :)
Celine Dion as an interval act would be like being in heaven
Ouiii
Switzerland is definitely winning this year.
Nemo prend un risque de chanter ce genre de chanson . Mais il a tellement de talent et de mâturité pour son âge , qu'il maitrise très bien son chant . Il a tout pour gagner . Prendre le risque peut lui valoir des points . Bravo à lui .
An opera song in the top 5- Il Volo- Grande Amore (3rd in 2015) also I think Latvia did reasonably well in 2007 with opera. Estonia in 2018 also (not top 5) but nearly
Oh Il volo yes...
@@eurovisionhistories We could have had them this year also
We should have the rehearsal on Monday for Switzerland
You should do the same with qualifying. Why ______ will/won’t qualify. If you have time that is 😆
for opera there is italy 2015 and estonia 2018 that did well
My winer croatia
All entries depend upon staging unfortunately…
For me, this song doesn't do anything. It didn't grab any attention for me. I don't see it winning jury votes and don't see it winning public vote. Yes. it will be high but not winning. I live in a world where this is definitely not a winning song. It's overrated. But let's wait and see what Europe will decide
This is my 2nd favourite song and what is the message coz its not clear to me lol
I Like Swiss but i Like Marina Satti too!🇬🇷🎲🙏🤞💪
Since they are early in semi final 2 maybe they will be late in the final but I don’t think it works like that
Even if Switzerland had any actual chances to win the competition, it won't win after Switzerland's placement in the semi finals.
Disagree completely!
I agree completely!
Wow the song is straight up bad? It’s emotional and impactful and all the different genres work beautifully together, it’s an amazing piece that deserves to win.
My prediction:
Juryvote= Switzerland or Italy (but it's more like a 70/30 for switzerland)
Televote= Croatia or Netherlands (50/50)
Comment for engagement!
I love Eurovision but this does very little for me. I don't quite see the "memorable" moment. There is no wow for me and the Eminemish "rap" part is so tired. Adding opera elements is just a gimmick. The song still needs actually to be good..
But it’s good? The chorus is amazing and catchy as hell.
For me the song is just okay. It's not something I will add to my music playlist. In the end though it's really about personal preferences.
I think Nemo will win because it will be an anthem of LGBT community. Nothing bad with that, it's just my opinion. Great song but...

The best wishes to the best performance and the most modest and nice person there - Croatia - Baby Lasagna!
Celene returns wouldnt be a pro for me and it won't happens she's happy for her ESC win to be forgotten.
Don't blame you.I am Greek and can't connect to it😁
@Claire-sj9mp it's the same for me with uk, good singer but weak song
@@stevengoode7194 Not mad about the UK song either but it isn't too bad. What do you think of Europapa?

@@stevengoode7194 Yes,I agree
Not top 5, but La Forza did come eighth
True. That popped into my head while recording but was quite sure it wasn't Top 5
Based on this the Netherlands or Italy should win then
@@MultiSalkoo I assume the battle for first place will be between Ukraine and Croatia. Regardless of who wins, ESC 2025 will be held in Croatia. Why not? It's a touristic country with perfect weather in May, and not as expensive as Switzerland. So, the EBU will be happy to hold the competition there. :)
@@Irrepressible. I love Croatia as well as a tourist destination, it would be nice if Ukraine won with their great song
I think Switzerland this year will take the 👑 at this moment it is quite obvious
Nemo should not win. And if he does win, we will all know why. Not fare. That is all.
We know why? because it’s an amazing song and he is an amazing singer, he deserves it
Yes, Nemo sings very well. But in the end, what I gather is that all the 'Fame' around Nemo mainly comes from two things :
- The combination of styles and the difficulty in appreciating the music, which makes people feel 'above the rest' when they end up liking it...
Nice dig at non Eurovision fans- Why would you be on your phone or talking anyway!
