Comparing the Avs before and after their goalie switch would be interesting. But I won't be surprised if colorado and dallas jump Minnesota by the end of this six game stretch. And if the Avs goal tending keeps averaging two GA per game I could see them jumping Winnipeg early February.
The Jets' predictable losses after the historic start also have a lot to do with the month long streak of living out of suitcases as they did long stretches of multi-road games, 1 at home, multi-road games, 1 at home, etc. It's hard to keep everything together when you can't practice, can't really shuffle lines, and can't really rest because you're on the plane 3 hours after a game to get to the next destination. They flew something like 25k miles in that month, just an obscene amount. Exactly as you mentioned though, these next 3 weeks are their opportunity to rest at home, practice, heal and get those points back. If the Jets don't take advantage of it, then I think everything mentioned in the video today is pretty correct. And as a bit of friendly competition, I hope the Avs continue to kill it out there, so when the Jets are playing their top form and on top, there's no excuses to be made on either side.
There forward depth still sucks, there being carried by high end talent, they could desperately use a Landie return to bolster there bottom 6 and give them some leadership down the stretch. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen so they'll likely have to trade draft picks to add.
They rank 6th in goals scored. Depth players like Logan O’Connor (a key penalty killer and now on a six-year extension), Miles Wood (14 points), and Ross Colton (15 points) are making big contributions. Jonathan Drouin's return from injury adds even more skill to the middle six.
