It’s on 343 themselves that they then over-corrected and dropped everything that at least had some potential in H4.

Similar thing happened with halo 3 too! Halo 2 released and the arbiter was one of the most hated aspects. I mean just look at the forums. Tons of people were hating him. So for halo 3 he basically had a completely diminished roll and had absolutely no character development besides killing truth. You couldn’t even play as hun unless you were doing co-op.
Of course now arbiter is considered a great character, but doesn’t diminish from the fact the fandom made a terrible choice in 2003 by demanding arbiter be removed.

The rhino tank is a mortar by technicality, and halo wars is now 100% cannon
No its a long range artilary peice. The AA half track has a mortar.
Both of you are wrong. While the Rhino’s armament was reverse engineered from the Covenant plasma mortar, the technology is employed in an artillery piece. The Wolverine also does not have a mortar; it has a grenade launcher.
The only mortar that the UNSC canonically gets is the “KG Mk 34 Antipersonnel Flame Mortar” that appears on base turrets in Halo Wars as the anti-infantry upgrade. As the actual guns on the turrets could be dismounted and used by infantry (albeit the ones that were dismounted were likely taken from a different mount than the base turrets in Halo Wars) it’s also possible that the flame mortar had the same functionality and could be used as an independent weapon system.

Spartan 3's augments put them on par with 2s but are equipped with stealth armor instead of Mjolnir with Noble team and a few others being the exception. they are also acquired more "ethically" by asking war orphaned 8 year olds if they wanna be a super hero and sent off to do suicide missions behind enemy lines.
Incorrect their armor is roughly the same if not better but their augmentation is inferior mainly because of the aforementioned difference in recruitment age

The augmentations are a little bit inferior but they are ~99% safe, unlike 2s 40%.
Armor wise they are more streamlined and use more standard UNSC equipment.
Installation00 has a series called "most detailed breakdown" on the topic. If you have an army to paint or something to edit you can watch them as a background.
@@markss367 So it turns out you are almost right actually. Spartan 3's had augmentations about as good as Spartan 2's with non of the risk. The thing is that all Spartan 2's were already genetically peak human before they were augmented which is why Spartan 2's are so much bigger, faster and stronger than Spartan 3's on average. With obvious exceptions like noble 6 who was probably also a genius or something
@@joeblazer3429 well the genetics of the II only applyed to their chances of surviving the augmentation process while IIIs didnt need to meet those expectations because the leap in tech enabled them a easy transition from human to spartan thats why there where a total of 900 S3 while the 2s numbered in 70+ range.
But the biggest reason the 2s preformed better what the armour bridge that gap and its a tie
Spartan 1s were basically just Sgt Johnson (supposedly he supposedly actually was one) Spartan 2s were Chief, Spartan 3s were designed to be expendable versions of the 2s, and Spartan 4s are the ones on Infinity.
kind of, sgt Johnson was not a spartan 1 he was an experiment in the first project orion (spartan project) that pretty much failed(but left some augments),spartan 2's weren't just cheif there were other ones like Linda-058,Naomi-010,Kelly-087 and so on, it was just that john was probably the most succesful spartan 2 therefore the most famous, spartan 3's were made to be better and more accessible than the spartan 2's but ended up just being head hunters sent on suicide missions(but those missions were really important like eliminating HVT's and such, so spartan 3's weren't expected to make it back from those missions which makes the use of the word expendeble in this term relative because they wanted them to come back but it was rare) and spartan 4's were weaker but more accesible spartan 2's because adults could be augmented,just not as much as children

The C button is rather easy to use for Sprint. I found it funny since Rimmy probably played Halo 3 and Halo Reach with the Lshift for Armor Abilities.
@@klutzspecter3470 I am preetty sure C has been commonly used for crouching along side ctrl. Using C for sprinting seems rather odd though.
It actually makes sense for c to be sprint and shift to be armour ability. Sprint is toggle on c so you only need to click it once but armour abilities need to be held. If you use c for armour abilities then you're using your index finger to press it and than means you can no longer walk to the right while with shift you use your pinky finer meaning you still retain mobility in all 4 directions

@Deathtrooper204 I liked it. The Arbiter got his revenge on Truth. The flood was wiped out. Humanity survives the Covenant war with the elites ally. Guilty Spark dies. Johnson dies (sad but that wraps him up). The galaxy is saved. Master Chief lives, he's put into cyro sleep and he's hailed as a hero with a memorial and 21 gun salute.
Only bad thing is that Chief is floating around in space, but all the Halo games end like that. It's a satifying ending for me as there's nothing to go back to at that point.
It I am not mistaken, Bungie mever intended there to be any more sequels, so they took the noble approah and had Chief be put into the pod. Which to me signals that he continues to fight on, in CE we first see him het out of cryo sleep, so it's fitting he would go back in to end the series. The end loops back to the beginning.

Why does what’s left of the Forward Unto Dawn look bigger and completely different than it originally was in Halo 3? That would be like giving Master Chief a new set of armor while in cryo sleep.
They just didn't bother to model the Charon class frigate for the game. They used one of the new UNSC frigates (I think it's a Strident class) for the level. It's just another sign that Halo 4 (And by extension 5) are not very good games. The original design from Halo 2/3 is still considered canon, but 343 was just lazy making the first mission.

The UNSC has several artillery pieces though, despite not having a mortar. Cobra as *very* direct fire, being basically a massive railgun on wheels. The Kodiak which is their actual artillery. And the Plasma Rhino which is basically a wraith but not.
6:12 because im a nerd Spartan IV's were also genetically modified and grew to like 7 feet tall and stuff. So far there's no Spartan generation that hasn't needed intense biological augmentations, but the IV's were the first Spartan generation that didn't recruit children
The augmentations are a lot less powerful though and the Spartan IV’s are way weaker than Spartan II’s and III’s
@@drenchedinsyrupp6059 Yes they definitely are weaker but that's less to do with augmentations and more with experience. John began training around 6 or 7 and was a tween/teen when he began actual missions, not to mention that the candidate pool for II's was for individuals so exemplary that less than a hundred were qualified. Spartan III's I'd argue were/are as powerful as IV's, given that they were "rushed" in the same manner as IV's and were "normal" kids, not like John and the II's. The only reason they used kids was because at the time they still couldn't augment adults.

@@drenchedinsyrupp6059 Yes and the augmentations in the IV generations had a less difficult time transitioning not because they were given less augmentations but more due to the advances in biological augmentation humanity had made in the 3+ decades since the II's.
@@MyToastyToast Spartan IIs got shit like bone grafts and were given extraordinarily powerful genetic supplements in their formative years whereas Spartan IVs were given augments when they were done maturing -- they're strong, but IIs are more heavily augmented

You know, I personally don’t think this was a well-executed Halo game, but the actual narrative was well-chosen. If we’d gotten the actual follow up it needed, where the UNSC are bad and the antagonists of a story about the child soldier Master Chief slowly learning how to be human, probably joining the Insurrectionists or something, it would’ve redeemed itself for me.
That shits on pre-existing lore tho.

@@daltongrant1403 Because the UNSC is a military junta, and the lore goes out of its way to make sure you understand the insurrectionists were and are completely justified? They outright give you guns and fight beside you for a mission in Halo Reach. The actual lore books even do the whole 'mysterious disappearance to some distant utopia far away from war with the greatest heroes of mankind' thing, when it talks about the events of Admiral Preston Cole's last stand.
They'd be the good guys if the UNSC wasn't the group with almost all of the big guns when the aliens invaded, and are unquestionably the good guys afterward. They're the emotional, vibrant, and varied humanity that the UNSC fought so hard to protect, now being kept down by them as the organization lingers after their war was won.
@@daltongrant1403 You wanna talk about lore-breaking, the Forerunners were ancient humanity in everything written prior to 2009 or so. This is obvious and stated explicitly by Spark two inches from your face at the end of Halo 3, they very poorly retconned it as 'oh, Guilty Spark's just crazy when he says this, and the Prophet of Truth was also crazy when he was talking about some Forerunners having been left behind, and Cortana remarking on how similar Forerunner tech is to human is because she was actually built with forerunner technology the whole time,' and so on. I accept it though, because the books were actually pretty dang good.
Yeah no that would never happen, not only because it would not make sense at all for master chief to just suddenly start killing humans but also because it would likely not make for any interesting enemies to face against in a halo game
Gameplay wise it would have been pretty bland but story wise it would've been pretty dam good

About the Spartan-III program, they were created as an expendable version of the II's and as such had worse augments and they were given SPI armour, which was an attempt at stealth armour and was nowhere near as strong as MJOLNIR, however, the only alteration the IV's had was strengthening their bones to the point that they could use MJOLNIR at all

Call me weird but Halo 4 will always have a spot in my heart, mostly just nostalgia I can admit but I will always enjoy playing it.

The spartan 4s are easily the worst. Spartan threes were still trained from a young age, and had more extensive modification. Just no mjolnir unless you were like noble team. Spartan 4s just have the best armor. That's it.
Pretty sure Mjolnir Gen 2 was cheaper but worse then Gen 1, might be wrong though
@@apossiblyhereticalalphaleg3595 how could gen 2 be cheaper ? they had to clone children, steal the children, replace them with a clone, raise all of them from around the age of 8 or 10, they had to mutate them, somewhere around half of them died during the mutations, and they started making the spartan armor (can't be bothered to look up the name).
what the hell did they do for gen 1 for it to be more expensive?

I notice that this game loads faster and has a more stable framerate than any of the other Halos on MCC. I wouldn't put it past 343 to do this out of spite.
@Pingers Bingers It would take a complete re-writing of the 3 games for them to fix it.
Huh, so this is Bungie’s fault. Makes sense actually, we probably ignored all this, not realizing that these bugs were there the whole time, and we only now realize that these bugs exist, but we blame 343 because of Halo 5 and there being internet connection problems on MCC.
Knew I'd this comment sometime. Not an apologist for bad decisions but thinking this is hilariously stupid, mainly because the original trilogy has always had pretty terrible net code comparatively

In response to 6:02, Spartan IIIs were the cheep mass produced Spartans but still as good as IIs. IVs are just spartan wannabes who had foam looking armor.
