Definitely worthy of a D grade. I am sure the price tag comes from having to buy the game used stuff and the cost of having these players sign them. The price is like there is a Trout and a Ryan in every box. Better off buying lottery tickets at that price point. Great video Jabs!
I suspect that the game used jersey pieces cost topps a few bucks a piece at most (think about how many tiny pieces you can cut a jersey into) and that the autos cost them slightly more than that. It is highway robbery.
@@snerdterguson Yes, that is true about those big pulls. But most people won't get stuff like that and will be left with the empty feeling of spending $1,100 bucks and a bunch of stuff not even close to the value. The price is just too much in the end for the average collector.

$1100 really nothing compared to box prices for high end football or basketball products. I’ve seen people open a $10k box of Flawless and get maybe $1k in cards.

Nothing against anybody selling these or buying or anything but i would never pay huge money for a product right now. There is a tiny chance u even break even. You could spend that money on a huge ohtani, you could get 3 psa 10 ohtani silver pack rookies for the price of a box of this. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SEC

I saw him pitch in person in 1991 and he was still pumping high 90s like it was nothing.
The Jackie Robinson cut auto that the guy pulled on the Topps website is the only Jackie Robinson card in the entire product. Sucks knowing no chances at that card right away like that. I did notice that there is a Burt Reynolds cut on the checklist so I can still hope for that. Pretty random but I love when they have awesome non-baseball players instead of random people I’ve never even heard of.
It would make it super sweet if he signed it turd Ferguson...been looking to add that auto to my pc

@@Delmiester ya I was thinking the same thing. It is strange that they would take away such a huge cut auto so that everyone knows they can’t possibly get now. The problem is they know that 90% of people don’t look up checklists if I had to make a guess. Who knows. Smells very fishy to me also though.

Paying that much for two cards that you know are gonna be an autograph and/or a Relic.....WHEN YOU CAN JUST BUY 2 AUTOS OR RELICS OF YOUR OWN CHOOSING FOR WHATEVER PRICE YOU WANT......is simply ridiculous.

Trout, Ohtani, Acuna, & Soto are the only players making your money back. And that’s only if they’re low numbered. /25 wouldn’t do it. Unless there are rookie cards in this.

Topps needs to build these boxes instead of leaving it to chance or drop the price. They can easily make sure each box is if not a winner not an Albies and some nameless player I forgot who it was already.

Wow! Topps really loves their customers. What a joke! The grade of a "D" is way too high. $4400 worth of boxes and probably only $750 worth of cards, especially that last one may fetch $75 for both.

I'm was amazed by the cheap plastic boxes these cards were in. Usually high end cards are in nice sealed holders. Nice cards but over priced. The Ryan card is the only one that could get its 550 dollars .

This hobby has gone completely down the toilet. Ridiculous prices for pieces of paper/cardboard and over saturating the market with signatures and “relics!” I swear, I’m actually starting to miss the junk wax era! At least back then, finding an autograph meant finding a true gem!

2022 sterling box was $850. So people must have risked alot for them to jack up the price by $150 for this year. Also, they increased the amount made for this year...and that is sold out already.

I read somewhere that a lot of the jerseys that you find in trading card relics aren't even game used. They can literally just come from some appearance that the player was at where he was wearing a Jersey top and events like that. Does anyone know if this is true or not?
Because if it is, all of the value is pretty much coming from the autograph and for players like Ozzie Albies, those don't go for much.
Player worn are definitely like that. The relics will say player worn or game worn

When 3 spots were left to fill the break I was just about to buy a spot but I held off and I’m glad I did. The cards are beautiful but the price and the checklist are too much.
At least the guy who had the Braves got a box for 85% off. Probably STILL lost money though. If they’re gonna put Olson in there, the other card has to be Acuna, in an all Braves box.

How anyone can spend $1100 for 2 cards is crazy enough but then to pull Olsen and Albies #’d to 25 is a kick in the nuts! Nolan Ryan is sweet but the card is dull, lacks color and could have been designed better.

Got a box that was just delivered. Will open in a couple days. I love the box itself and the unboxing experience looks great, but gotta set expectations very low. The chances of recouping even 50% of the price is quite low. Not really looking to flip is my mindset going in. Been recently going deep into baseball and want to arrange whatever godly pulls I get (have 20 or so now) when I inevitably also piece together my sports jerseys in a man cave.

Why did the Albies Card say 2021 season when the box said 2010's allstar? He made the allstar game in 2018 too why not put that year? 😅

Why should Topps try? They have a monopoly on licensed products. There is little incentive but to keep raking in the dough.

I think these boxes should cost $250 max, the design Is cool but the player selection horrible.
the Albies cards out of only 10 made can be purchased for $195
If it went on auction, it would probably go for less than $100

The cards look great and I love on card autos, but there NEEDS to be a "big" hit of the 2 or else it's throwing money down the drain. The Nolan Ryan was incredible. Absolute amazing card, but there's no way I'm paying $500+ for a Matt Olson or Ozzie Albies let alone paying $1100 for BOTH? A "D grade" is only worth it because of the packaging/limitation/possibility of getting a huge name. Other than that this is an expensive gamble that could burn quite a few peoples' wallets.
