Definitely worthy of a D grade. I am sure the price tag comes from having to buy the game used stuff and the cost of having these players sign them. The price is like there is a Trout and a Ryan in every box. Better off buying lottery tickets at that price point. Great video Jabs!
I suspect that the game used jersey pieces cost topps a few bucks a piece at most (think about how many tiny pieces you can cut a jersey into) and that the autos cost them slightly more than that. It is highway robbery.
@@snerdterguson Yes, that is true about those big pulls. But most people won't get stuff like that and will be left with the empty feeling of spending $1,100 bucks and a bunch of stuff not even close to the value. The price is just too much in the end for the average collector.
Nothing against anybody selling these or buying or anything but i would never pay huge money for a product right now. There is a tiny chance u even break even. You could spend that money on a huge ohtani, you could get 3 psa 10 ohtani silver pack rookies for the price of a box of this. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SEC
Paying that much for two cards that you know are gonna be an autograph and/or a Relic.....WHEN YOU CAN JUST BUY 2 AUTOS OR RELICS OF YOUR OWN CHOOSING FOR WHATEVER PRICE YOU WANT......is simply ridiculous.
did you see the video of Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin and the pro soccer player opening a box of Sterling ? Their hits were a 1/1 Jackie Robinson cut auto and a Mike Trout patch auto. Talk about a loaded box....
@4:25 Wow! Awesome hit!! Until you brought it up Jabs, i forgot about his last game. I remember watching that on ESPN. He knew it right away, and barely even flinched at the pain. Once in a generation pitcher. His stats, and his persona, i dont think can be matched. Thanks for the great video Jabs! Always appreciated sir! 🙏
Not complaining about drawing the Braves but…why couldn’t it have been Acuna or Riley lol the Albies was in the 2010s MLB All-stars box but it was for his 2021 season 😂
The Jackie Robinson cut auto that the guy pulled on the Topps website is the only Jackie Robinson card in the entire product. Sucks knowing no chances at that card right away like that. I did notice that there is a Burt Reynolds cut on the checklist so I can still hope for that. Pretty random but I love when they have awesome non-baseball players instead of random people I’ve never even heard of.
@@Delmiester ya I was thinking the same thing. It is strange that they would take away such a huge cut auto so that everyone knows they can’t possibly get now. The problem is they know that 90% of people don’t look up checklists if I had to make a guess. Who knows. Smells very fishy to me also though.
$1100 really nothing compared to box prices for high end football or basketball products. I’ve seen people open a $10k box of Flawless and get maybe $1k in cards.
Trout, Ohtani, Acuna, & Soto are the only players making your money back. And that’s only if they’re low numbered. /25 wouldn’t do it. Unless there are rookie cards in this.
That’s a beautiful card. I do wish the 5 different patches had some differences in color. I think that would make the card much more appealing to me in my opinion.
Wow! Topps really loves their customers. What a joke! The grade of a "D" is way too high. $4400 worth of boxes and probably only $750 worth of cards, especially that last one may fetch $75 for both.
I read somewhere that a lot of the jerseys that you find in trading card relics aren't even game used. They can literally just come from some appearance that the player was at where he was wearing a Jersey top and events like that. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Because if it is, all of the value is pretty much coming from the autograph and for players like Ozzie Albies, those don't go for much.
Got a box that was just delivered. Will open in a couple days. I love the box itself and the unboxing experience looks great, but gotta set expectations very low. The chances of recouping even 50% of the price is quite low. Not really looking to flip is my mindset going in. Been recently going deep into baseball and want to arrange whatever godly pulls I get (have 20 or so now) when I inevitably also piece together my sports jerseys in a man cave.
first case i seen open that didnt have at least a bat knob or jersey letter 1of1 i mean i guess the nolan ryan was a 1 of 1 but was expecting more from sterling
I'm was amazed by the cheap plastic boxes these cards were in. Usually high end cards are in nice sealed holders. Nice cards but over priced. The Ryan card is the only one that could get its 550 dollars .
I was looking forward to this on the channel! But I 100% agree on that last box my goodness. Nothing against those players but I’m not sure even Braves fans would be happy with those 2 cards for a $1,100 price tag 😐
When 3 spots were left to fill the break I was just about to buy a spot but I held off and I’m glad I did. The cards are beautiful but the price and the checklist are too much.
Although the Nolan, Ryan, one of one auto is definitely cool, you mean to tell me they gave you a 5x relic that’s all the white jersey napkin? Unacceptable. At least the David Ortiz was 4 different jersey Relics
Topps needs to build these boxes instead of leaving it to chance or drop the price. They can easily make sure each box is if not a winner not an Albies and some nameless player I forgot who it was already. Come on Topps don't ya have enough money by now. It's like you piss all over us because you can.
2022 sterling box was $850. So people must have risked alot for them to jack up the price by $150 for this year. Also, they increased the amount made for this year...and that is sold out already.
Just curious how this break works. Does everyone pay in and then only 8 potential people get them, and the rest lost the gamble or only if you get someone you pay up?
I was wondering this same thing. Did all participants pay for a spot? Then get nothing? Guess it was probably explained on the patreon page as people opted in.
At least the guy who had the Braves got a box for 85% off. Probably STILL lost money though. If they’re gonna put Olson in there, the other card has to be Acuna, in an all Braves box.
I was wondering if you had any base cards or mystery packs I’m new to collecting you inspired me comment me back if not that’s fine I’m a big fan bye 👋
The cards look great and I love on card autos, but there NEEDS to be a "big" hit of the 2 or else it's throwing money down the drain. The Nolan Ryan was incredible. Absolute amazing card, but there's no way I'm paying $500+ for a Matt Olson or Ozzie Albies let alone paying $1100 for BOTH? A "D grade" is only worth it because of the packaging/limitation/possibility of getting a huge name. Other than that this is an expensive gamble that could burn quite a few peoples' wallets.
How anyone can spend $1100 for 2 cards is crazy enough but then to pull Olsen and Albies #’d to 25 is a kick in the nuts! Nolan Ryan is sweet but the card is dull, lacks color and could have been designed better.
Love it when you bushido blade the box that someone just paid $1000 for.
Definitely worthy of a D grade. I am sure the price tag comes from having to buy the game used stuff and the cost of having these players sign them. The price is like there is a Trout and a Ryan in every box. Better off buying lottery tickets at that price point. Great video Jabs!

I love watching box openings of a product that I would never pay for myself. Great vid Jab.
What an awful product

I WOULD HATE TO KNOW I HAD SPENT ELEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR ALL 4 BOXES TOGETHER. 😂😂😂😂😂
I think its 1100 for one so that case would be 4400
@@hotboxrox He knows how much the case is. He was making a joke.

I get why you did it or anybody that has a channel would do it but for the average consumer is just crazy
This is the kind of product I could see Topps sneaking in a Michael Jordan auto card in his White Sox uniform.
did you see the video of Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin and the pro soccer player opening a box of Sterling ? Their hits were a 1/1 Jackie Robinson cut auto and a Mike Trout patch auto. Talk about a loaded box....
Yeah. That was staged I think. They knew what was in there.

I saw him pitch in person in 1991 and he was still pumping high 90s like it was nothing.
Lol Nolan Ryan 1/1, 5 solid white jersey pieces on a white card.
Dam I wannit thought 😭
4:49 1 if 1 Nolan Ryan. Very nice card.
Randomizer hates me, Rockies and Brewers have like 4 combined cards on the entire checklist.

It would make it super sweet if he signed it turd Ferguson...been looking to add that auto to my pc
its why these boxes will sit and gather dust
@@vendora1 ya super disappointing, $1,100 is ridiculous.
Dude who pulled the Jackie and Trout was 100% setup with that box. No way was it random that he pulled those hits.

Imagine dropping $1100 and getting that last box 😬
$1100 really nothing compared to box prices for high end football or basketball products. I’ve seen people open a $10k box of Flawless and get maybe $1k in cards.
It’s Topps way of kicking you in the nuts for spending $1100 on two cards
I collect Matt Olson so if the guy wants to unload it. I definitely want it!
crazy price on these. very few players bring the value needed to make these even close to worth it.
Trout, Ohtani, Acuna, & Soto are the only players making your money back. And that’s only if they’re low numbered. /25 wouldn’t do it. Unless there are rookie cards in this.
That's a crying shame a 1/1 Nolan Ryan and no colored patches 😮
A 1/1 napkin.
@@thisbechris what in world is going on at Topps 🤦♂️
Yep, that was terrible
Love that Nolan Ryan card
That’s a beautiful card. I do wish the 5 different patches had some differences in color. I think that would make the card much more appealing to me in my opinion.
@@EmeraldCityRizI agree, definitely needed some color!
@@EmeraldCityRiz I wish they would have done 7 patches for the 7 no hitters he threw. That would have been a cool touch.
Also, can I say how can that Nolan Ryan 1/1 have 5 relic pieces but all napkins???
Bought a Tribute box (yet to arrive) $480.00, the combo of 6 autos and mems, numbered may break even,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe, lol
1/1 Nolan Ryan 5 relic auto and still a negative roi. Topps laughs at us every time they sell one of these
..but the Nolan was too cool..
You got like $200 worth of cards for $4400
You were too kind, I would of given that a F especially that last box lol
Wow! Topps really loves their customers. What a joke! The grade of a "D" is way too high. $4400 worth of boxes and probably only $750 worth of cards, especially that last one may fetch $75 for both.
I missed on a free break Angels by one spot got the Dodgers. First hit was a Mike Trout auto I've been crying ever since
Remember that one time Tatis got suspended for Steroid use? Yeah, good times………
It would have been nice if they could have added some color patches to the Nolan Ryan 1/1.
Watched a 1/1 hank Aaron cut auto get pulled from one of these a couple weeks ago on what not. It was awesome to watch

You think they would have added a little color to that Nolan Ryan? A 1/1 with 5 patches all the same color.
Thanks for doing this video. I’ll be sure to stay away from these sterling breaks because the risk definitely isn’t worth the reward.
Jabs do you think boxes like this should also have base cards and parallels or do you prefer just 2 cards that are autos?
first case i seen open that didnt have at least a bat knob or jersey letter 1of1 i mean i guess the nolan ryan was a 1 of 1 but was expecting more from sterling

Less in the 4th
Jabs get Gouged!
A lottery ticket doesn't cost $1100.00
Love seeing Sterling being opened, but i agree with Jabs, prices should be cut 500-600$

the Albies cards out of only 10 made can be purchased for $195
If it went on auction, it would probably go for less than $100
I’d rather get a couple triple threads or museum collection boxes instead of one of these imo
Man. That was the worst case I’ve seen of sterling.. or any high end product for that matter.
This just shows how much BS that Trout and Jackie cut auto box break by the guy from fanatics was.
The design of these cards isn't attractive. If I'm spending that kind of money, I want a better looking card.
I just found a signed N. Ryan card with coa $79 and a large "colored" patch card for$38.
Common Topps r you even trying.
Why did the Albies Card say 2021 season when the box said 2010's allstar? He made the allstar game in 2018 too why not put that year? 😅
Thanks EJ! Happy Father’s Day. Idk man?? I’m not feeling this. They’re so nice. Ryan is awesome, Ortiz was cool. Matt Olson??? Sheez

1 of 1 Ryan with napkin patch? wow

2 for the braves 😮
