    • @DNorbs7
      @DNorbs7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beautiful cards & some amazing monster hits possible, but yeah, I've seen a bunch of this opened, and rarely does the value get near $1000 for the two cards. You'll see a ton of stuff like that Clark auto, Molitor, Robin Yount, Glavine, etc. Beautiful cards of great players that are worth about $50 at most.:/ Even with the Ohtani, which is a nice hit, you're just getting your money back. I saw that card sell recently for around $800.
      The other things is that the majority of the relics are "not associated with any game, player, or event," which is incredibly frustrating for a product this high end. Absolutely no reason why every relic/patch is game-used for this kind of price.

    • @EdsterIII
      @EdsterIII 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      This is ridiculous, I agree. Also if your buying this from someone do you really want the Box it came in opened like that, and the shrink wrap sliced with a blade leaving a nice cut across the box? No offense but I'd handle these things with MAJOR CARE! Again I don't mean to be negative, but many collectors like to have the box it came in to be as mint as possible as well. Just saying.

    • @harjimbaugh4234
      @harjimbaugh4234 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The price of these cards is just stupid. I don’t see the value. I rather buy a vintage card. This was a hobby intentionally beside the cigarette cards for kids to collect. Topps is just finding a way to make money from adults. I would never buy something like this. Now this is just me and my personal opinion. Many of the first cards will not be in the Hall of the Fame. I remember when myself and a couple buddies would take a ride out to this gas station about 20-30 minutes from our house. They were the only one that did this. By that I mean many of the gas stations sold ⚾️🧢🧢⚾️Baseball cards, by the pack. This place however always had wax boxes on hand. This was in 1989. The year ⚾️Upper🧢Deck⚾️Baseball🧢cards⚾️came out. They had 🏈🏉football🏉🏈, ⚾️baseball🧢, 🏀basketball🏀, and even 🏒hockey🏒. They had them in a locked spot, where they used to have cartons of cigarettes. They had another one of those up behind the counter for the 🚬cigarettes🚬. The prices weren't even a fraction of what they are now. My box of Upper Deck was $29.99-$39.99 I can't remember the exact price. Topps were cheaper, they'd run $19.99-$24.99. Then there was the Pro-Set Football.....LOL those were cheap as hell! They also had Hoops 🏀Basketball🏀 which were pretty cheap too. Maybe $19.99? Again I'm not exactly sure. 32-33 years back. But I know this, if you paid $1,000.00 for anything baseball or any sports cards you'd be buying either a bunch of OLD CARDS, maybe a case ➕, or maybe some 50's cards. This, NO OFFENSE IS NUTS!

    To me this is a $300 box of cards and still you would be fortunate to break even. Even the boxes that had hits I'd say broke even or slightly above it. The patches are garbage...no color just bs patches. Triple threads has/had far superior patches at a much better price point. Can't justify spending $1k on a box. Buy the card u want off Ebay/Whatnot imo.

    Wow...how brutal at $500 a card. I dont think the non rookie ohtani and Ripken autos would fetch $500. The other cards only a small fraction of $500. No thanks...

  • @derekpeterson2072
    @derekpeterson2072 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    WAY overpriced. If I am paying 1000 for 2 cards I wouldn't want to see all of these current players. Yeah Ohtani is a solid player but its too early in his career, he could easily fall off in a few years. He probably won't but the possibility is there. I guess what I am saying is for 500 per card, I want players who established themselves for more than 3-4 years.

    Am I the only one who was a bit put-off by the Randy Johnson card having a bat? Best they could do? Just asking?

    What a rip off. All of these different b.s. cards just to make cash. Relic this limited that. Whatever happened to just buying a damned pack of baseball cards. Kids can’t even afford to buy a pack anymore.

    I don't get it. You opened half a case and didn't get one rookie card? And the Ohtani box was labeled "All-Star Rookie Cup Team", am I missing something?

    High end stuff is a complete joke. I can't even believe these companies are allowed to produce this stuff. They took the cards out of normal everyday collectors.

    for that kind of money. I'd be furious if I got a triple white napkin relic. at least it's Strasburg and Ohtani but 3 white relics? Topps should be much better than 3 baby white relics.

    Just another over priced product that doesn't live up to the hype.I'll take any classic card over this modern junk.Maybe it's a good thing Topps is leaving the business.

    I'm thinking about giving some of my cards away. Especially to the younger generation. I know these cards are very expensive nowadays. I grew up poor and never had anything let alone extra money for pictures of men on paper. So I'll make a page and make everything free.

    None if the cards he pull are no more than $200. Pay $1,000 for $400 worth of cards. Not worth it. Nothing he pull was worth $1,000

    A thousand dollars for this mess?!! I guess Topps has to overcharge for this stuff to pay off all the athletes to sign this stuff.

    Bat relics are the stupidest of relics! I HATE EM! Wish they would stop using inside part of bats for cards. Just got a Miguel Cabrera one I didn’t even bother to sleeve up bc it’s stupid to waste the sleeve n top loader!

    Well, Topps is smiling and laughing all the way to the bank. Aside from the Ripken and Ohtani, that whole set was a waste of money. Better off playing the lottery.
