Ryanair is said to be the safest airline - they've got over 400 aircraft but have never had a fatal crash - but flying with them can be hazardous to your mental health.
@@englandball5596 Probably depends on when you go, because it was $17 (USD) round-trip when I did it in December 2018 (still stupid cheap). There was basically nobody there, which was actually awesome.

We have low cost carriers in North America but it’s impossible for them to reduce the cost of flying to the magnitude that the European carriers can. I flew Spirit Airlines from LGA to FLL in June 2023 and I paid just over $200 for the trip. That is less than it would’ve been on a traditional airline like Delta or American Airlines but holy moly $8? That is crazy cheap. The complaints about Spirit in my opinion are definitely overblown. I’ve flown with them a couple times and it wasn’t bad at all. You just need to know what you’re getting yourself into and thankfully I come from an airline background. My grandparents worked for TWA. In December 2001, they were fully bought out by American Airlines. My grandmother was a travel agent and my grandfather was a power plant aircraft mechanic. My grandfather retired three years before 9/11 in 1998. My grandmother kept working in Manhattan until the 2008 financial crisis and that forced her into retirement.
Thanks, that was really interesting! Your videographer did an amazing job, too! And I thought it was great how you spoke up to help the Ukrainian woman, who needs a few more friendly people in her life at this point, I'm sure.
I once took a flight with Level from Vienna, Austria to Paris, France for 1 cent. It was so cheap, because that airline was new in Austria and you could only book that flight for about 24 hours. Thats the World's Cheapest Flight.😅
@@netherherenorthere1000 yeah around that same time I flew from Charleroi in Belgium to London I also went to Rome and Stockholm for cheap. Wish Ryanair did those promotions again but I guess they have enough passengers anyway now.

Brian from Myrtle Beach, USA. Love reading the newsletter. Haven’t flown Ryanair in a few years, but I personally think they really aren’t any worse than a wide selection of budget airlines when you’re just going for a cheap ticket for a short haul.
Just recently RIX-HEL was about 3-5 euros on Ryanair. They were attempting to compete on this route with two airlines that were already offering hourly connections.
Hi Drew! I’m in Nampa, Idaho, USA 🇺🇸 I enjoy watching your videos because I feel like I’m being transported to wherever you’re going. Keep up the good work can’t wait for more as much as I wish I could go myself.
So wonderful that you offered to pay that lady's ticket, not even knowing her story or why she was flying that day. And then to learn that she is going back to Ukraine to see the loved ones she had to leave behind. Such an amazing thing to do, even if it were 'normal' circumstances. Please keep doing random acts. We should all do as much as we can for as long as we can.
Ryanair is actually getting more expensive (but you can still occasionally find cheap deals, like €17 one way 4+ hours from northern Europe to the Canarian islands or Madeira in Africa, during Christmas time!)
Ryanair is amazing during January sales. Flights are so cheap. I went form the Uk to Denmark for £4.99 over the February half term which is normally more expensive

Hi drew, I'm from Delhi,India 🇮🇳. I have subscribed to your news letter... im also a traveller and i always wanted a travel camera for my videos so cross fingers on the gopro🤞
I flew with Ryanair Sun, which used to operate as a charter. It was the time before Buzz came into existence. The flight was from Krakow to Berlin Tegel back in 2019, and it cost me about 7 Euros then turned into 14 Euros cause I had to get a carry-on on board.
Nice video! It was extra interesting to watch and compare since I just uploaded my own video about flying Ryanair a few weeks back (even was a Buzz operated flight like this one). The only thing I'd point out is that this isn't the world's cheapest flight by any measure I can think of. The cheapest flight I recall having personally flown was a 5 euro Easyjet flight, but from time to time there have been ways to book low-cost carrier flights in Europe and beyond for prices below $1! But honestly with the current ultra-restrictive baggage policies it's very often cheaper to avoid low-cost carriers, not to mention that it's a nicer experience.
The only stressful story I had with them was when I was booked Ryanair on a work trip and had to find a print/copy shop in a foreign city (the hotel had no printer) to print my boarding pass in the day before departure, because the travel department forgot to buy the 7 euro option to check in 30 days in advance.

Being european and having flown with Ryanair hundreds of times, I must say that, apart from the strict luggage rules made to trick the passengers, the rest of the service is not as different from other airlines. Even when it comes to included food and drinks, flagship airlines are getting worse every day. Just flown with Lufthansa last week and got only a complimentary small bottle of water, not even a snack. As for the leg room, it's not that different (it used to be way worse when Ryanair had those thick seats), and they have extra leg-room seats just like the other companies. There are of course some minor details that flagship airlines offer, but it's not a big difference, to be honest. You also mentioned the lack of screen, but I never saw a screen on a plane flying within Europe, whether it was Ryanair/EasyJet/WizzAir/Transavia or Lufthansa/KLM/Iberia/Air France. As for the price, my father once did Porto-Madrid return trip for 4€ with Ryanair. I also did Porto-Marrakech (so, technically, it's even an intercontinental flight) last December for 28€ return flight (9€ one way, 19€ the return). So, this is hardly amongst the 1000 cheapest flights ever 😄
Food onboard RYR is actually pretty cheap. Often less expensive than on legacy carriers. It doesn't look nice, but it tastes good. Trust me, I know something about airplane food.
In America we have some low cost carriers such as Spirit, Frontier, and Allegiant but it’s impossible for them to reduce the cost of flying to the magnitude that the European low cost carriers can. The cheapest base fare I’ve ever gotten on Spirit Airlines from LGA to FLL was $62 one way. I paid just north of $200 for my trip to Florida in June 2023 which IS less than it would’ve been on Delta or American Airlines but $8?!?! That’s absolutely ridiculous how cheap it is.
How are prices so low in Europe? Like in the US there's a bare minimum of $10.10 in government fees, plus a 7.5% federal excise tax on the actual ticket amount.
