      Your exactly right aldo! Those are raised floor tiles and all that metal scrap he was gathering are the under supports for it.

    • @rawilson7768
      @rawilson7768 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That is what I was going to guess it was. I worked at a tv station and the master control area had a raised floor so they could run wiring easily if they had to move the equipment around and the tile sections were about that size. They had giant suction cups grips to lift the tiles with.

    Those dumpsters were bottomless. The more your extracted, the more came out of the woodwork. I kept yelling, "Cut the wire, Buddy! Cut the wire. Move the truck to the other side, Buddy!" You figured it out eventually. Nice haul, btw! The two dumpsters were sitting there, waiting for you to show up.
    Next time, try to minimize the throws, so your shoulder blades don't get overworked. Stack some scrap then toss them together into the truck. Dottie was wondering what was going on that day.

    Dude! I spent 3 days FILLING my Rav4 from this business having closed down, small open top out front, had permission to be there, right? Delivery guy drives to a nearby address in the same complex, across the parking lot, I wave, he waves, good times. He delivers the package, comes back out and walks up to the dumpster, asks me how long I've been at it since I live in Georgia and it's a humid and hot 85° average afternoon (and it was around 2:30 at this point) I told him, and he hands me a protein bar, says I need it more than he does! That guy was a saint, as I thought I had grabbed my Gatorade, but it didn't make it to the car. Mike, I really wish I could teleport you some Gatorade and a protein bar, or myself to aid in your mission. I get that same way once I decide I want something. Keep on keeping on!!

    You had me so wanting to get back in dumpster diving and youngest granddaughter (she is 10 years old)saw you videos and said Papa can we go dumpster diving too. So we went out and that is when I found out that I cannot do this anymore. I have FSHD Muscular Dystrophy and cannot get up in the dumpsters or get back out. She said at least we tried Papa.

      Nothing better than a daughter who loves treasure hunting with her dad. My daughter and I have been doing it for years, when ever we get a chance, she is 23 now and has Lupus which makes it harder to do.
      May I suggest Thrift Stores and curbside scavenging, you might be amazed what you can find once you start looking. Even aluminum can picking can net a few extra bucks on a good day. Hit the parks early A.M on Saturday and Sunday mornings for hundreds of cans.
      Prayers for you and your family.

      It is actually a suspended floor system for a computer / server room. The wires for the whole building (computers) are run under the floor. The steel parts are the frame and the big flat, heavy, pieces are the floor panels.

  • @Teleflexx
    @Teleflexx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Mike...those pannels are held together with bolts..a socket of channel locks would of enabled you to take them apart. Those pannels are used to make a elevated floor in electrical rooms...the cables leading to the cabinets lay on the floor..and they put those panels over them..all those straight pieces of metal are the legs the panels are attached to.

    • @theward1244
      @theward1244 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the raised floors are so cables can be run under them and into the bottom of computers or electrical equipment.

    MTS love the channel! Continued success. That there is raised/computer flooring to run cables in the void. I've pinched many a finger getting comfortable and letting my guard down with it. Cursed at it as many times as well. Occasionally they're not filled with concrete, though joyful, very rare to find as they weigh 35-40 lbs concrete filled. Keep scavenging and be strong Mike!

    Those big sheets could be broken into panels of 2 pieces by removing only (6 screws per joint times 5 joints for a total of 30 screws per big panel) Use a drill bit and it would only take 15 min to have them to a manageable size. There is still another truck full under that big panel.

    Mikey, I think its the stuff the face buildings with. The metal pieces you were taking are the pins for securing the facing to the building. The dimples are just a sort of aesthetic pattern. We have them on tower blocks in London. and yes they do catch fire! so probably why you found it, it has been removed on safety grounds! Thanks for the joy!

    Damn, you hit the jackpot. Somebody tore down a data center. There’s going to be a ton of copper and fiber. Plus racks and possibly data cabinets. On the electrical side there’s going to be lots of copper. Good luck, big guy.

    Hopefully there will be more good hits like this one, coming for you here in the near future gotta get you back in shape for the good finds. There nearing the end wasn't sure if the Scavenger was gonna be able to complete the task. Sure looked like the brother had run out of steam! Love the channel Mike, and wanting for nothing but the best for you and yours. Oh and great with shout outs for those other TH-cam scrappers which you kinda gave some recognition to, I'm sure that your viewers wish them the very best hopefully one day they might be able to amass the type of following which you have gained. Maybe they can learn something from the way in which you present your content 😉 keep up with the good work Mike the Scavenger you are deserving of any good thing that may be happening for you at this time.👏💪👍
