As a Dundonian, I would hate to see Dundee move to Camperdown as Dundee's home is Dens but I also understand that a new stadium is badly needed, so why can't Dundee not just demolish Dens and then rebuild a new stadium where the old one once stood? The move to Camperdown is not really a good one in my opinion but I'll spare my reasons as I'm sure nobody wants to read a novel of negative opinions. As for what will happen to Dens after Dundee leave, I get the feeling that the land will be sold, either to the local council who will then sell it to a housing developer or Dundee will sell it it straight to a housing developer. Either way, the land that Dens currently occupies will become housing and if any legacy of Dens remains, I feel as if it'll only be in the form of a street name and that's it. Something like "Dens Park" or "Dens Avenue".
As a Dundee supporter it’s sad to see the plans that have been put in place to build our new stadium as dens has a lot of history and the fact that dens park and tannadice are the two closest stadiums in the world is amazing I think all my club needs to do is knock down a or main stand ( which is the bendy one ) and build a new one and knock down the Derry ( which is the half stand that has DFC on it by the way it does still get used ) and build a new full stand there
In the USA, owners prefer to build new stadiums instead of renovate because they buy up all the land and infrastructure around it. Usually it is more profitable than the stadiums themselves. Don't know if is the same in Scotland/UK. Also, they threaten to relocate and get the cities/states to pay for a large chunk of it as well.
One option could have been to demolish Dens Park, Dundee would have to groundshare with United for awhile, and build a new modern stadium on the Dens Park site. I haven't visited the ground so I don't know the infrastructure of the area and if this would have been a practical option.

theres plenty of space at the bottom of the hill to build extra facilities and the south stand should be modernised and extended with new seats/safe standing and a new roof
As a Rangers fan I’m not too unhappy with the game being called off. It’s not great to see the other team on top for the break, but our players are knackered and looked leggy and flat against Benfica. Another match on a heavy pitch just 3 days later could have resulted in the wrong result and included more unneeded injuries. An extra few days recovery for those on international duty and a full couple of weeks for the club only players will be very welcome.
They don't need a new stadium. Fair if they showed up every weekend but the fans really let them down. The main issue with dens is the fact they resurfaced and done it on a cheap. It had one of the best playing surfaces in Scotland. Totally ruined it very silly decision. The new stadium no matter how much dundee fans and the club try to convince sfa and public etc that stadium will never be built purely cause the location. First and foremost the game could have been delayed until 3pm. The previous game against Rangers was delayed this season firstly due to Rangers team bus being stuck near St Andrews then the fire alarms being set off by pyrotechnics in the Bob Shsnkly stand.. That game didn't finish until almost 11pm, so to have a go at Dundee FC on Sunday seems a wee bit unfair given the circumstances of the first match this season which finished well after the scheduled time.
Good work on getting content for this video. Any idea if the new ground will be grass ? Bit worried owner stated wanted access 365 days a year. Suggests artificial to me 😢
This is not hating on Dundee but this needs to be said over and over again, this is the FOURTH time this season a match has had to be cancelled at that ground because the pitch is done in by the weather, despite the fact Tannadice is only a couple hundred yards away, subject to the exact same weather but manages to play its games. Rangers gets cancelled an hour and a half before kick off. Aberdeens game at Dens was cancelled 45 minutes before kick off. The only way to stop this from happening is to punish repeat offenders with a large points deduction. This not only shows Dundee as rank amateurs it is also terrible optics for the top flight of Scottish football.
Don't be such a drama queen. The rain fell just a few hours before the game was due to kick off and was heavy and incessant. Same thing happened before the other postponed matches. Has this level of rain happened just before any game at Tannadice this season? No, so no comparison. Some other folk are screaming 'only match off in the country this weekend'. Only game scheduled after the rain while the rest were before? Yes, the drainage is a disaster and the club needs to get it sorted but shouts of large points deductions are ridiculous in the extreme - deduct points for extreme weather? What next? Deduct points for turning up late for games or for fans causing delays due to fire alarms going off when an illegal smoke bomb display takes place? Deduct points for fans running on the pitch and attacking opposition goalkeepers? You're either an Arab or a Rangers fan, one of those examples will ring with you, either way you need to get that bitterness out of your system.
@@brianlawrence8401 The point obviously flew right over your head. It's irrelevant the level of rain that fell, we live in Scotland, it's not new. The problem is the failure of Dens park bosses in addressing the problem. FOUR times in one season and that's the ones that were so bad had to be called off. You realize the large bald patches of mud didn't just appear? That doesn't happen with just a few hours rain, that is a drainage AND a neglect problem. I've landscaped 22 years i know what i talk about, the what about the games that did go ahead on the SPFL equivalent of a cow field? It's a shocking state of affairs for it to be happening in Scotlands top flight and if you can't see that or try to minimise the overall effect these call offs have on the football calender, fans, TV and the optics to a domestic and overseas audience then i don't know what to tell you. The prospect of a large points deduction would have 100% prevented this, you could bet Dundee would have got their finger out a few seasons back and had the drainage fixed. Instead because they intend on moving they have spent next to nothing on their responsibities as a member of the SPFL. As for your accusations of either an Arab or Rangers blah blah blah stinks of you deflecting onto those calling this out as the problem rather than those running Dundee. 🖕

@@unchainedmentally2147 You're totally correct mate, Scottish football is in freefall with clubs like Dundee FC involved. Some of the lower league clubs with much less resources have excellent playing surfaces that put the likes of Dundee FC to shame, that American bloke is pulling the wool over his own fans eyes. When the time comes for him to bolt, Dundee will still be playing on that tottie field.
THIS is why they forgot to realize the pitch when they stole the top of the table from Queen's Park on last year's Matchday 36. QP is better than this. They have Lesser Hampden for other minor minnows and the Greater Hampden for the likes of Celtic and Rangers.
4 games this season called off due to the farmers field state of this park, the hierarchy of Scottish football quite happy keeping the embarrassment going without punishment
I have to say, it's impressive you get content for a video on a match postponement. Sky sports switched their channels over to sky sports news. Yet here you are interviewing club owners and the referee. Please keep up the content.
Dundee are a wonderful old Scottish club. I think one of the great headers of the ball Alan gilzean played pre Spurs for Dundee. A new ground should have a minimum capacity of twenty five k to compete for trophies
It's their 4th home game postponed due to the condition of the pitch this season. As everyone can see, that is not just surface water and a waterlogged pitch. The grass doesn't suddenly die with a few hours rain - it's a coo field and they musta known before daylight today that the game was in doubt.Dundee FC must be held accountable - the only professional game in the whole of the UK called off. That is outrageous and nothing short of embarrassing
@Superman-nn4nw If they were in at 5am they must have known there was a problem on Friday. Knowing it's record for postponements it should have been checked by the sfa.
In 1927, Motherwell of Scotland won the Copa Del Rey in Spain. The 100 year anniversary is coming up. Will there be a rematch between Motherwell and Real Madrid?

Grown men playing football on a watery pitch is hardly dangerous. I would say there are thousands of sports which are more dangerous than this. @janice506 it's even less funny for far travelled Dees fans. Especially when Dons game cancelled an hour before kick off after we had to be up at 4am to make the journey!
If a football club can't or won't bring there stadium or at the very least playing surface up to a professional standard then that club should not be anywhere near professional football
Dundee don't need a new home; they need to spend money maintaining their pitch now. This is the fourth game postponed there this season and is nowhere near good enough for a club in the top flight. They're creating a problem to promote this new stadium as the saviour and will blame everyone else if it gets thrown out. Even if it doesn't it's years away and in the meantime they still have to play on that pitch. Get it sorted. Diddy club.
It's not a diddy club but a diddy owner who doesn't understand economics of Scottish fitba or the tardiness of our Council planners! Nelms is penny wise, pound foolish not to have spent enough on pitch drainage!

It just highlights the state of Scottish football. For a Premiership club that’s an absolute embarrassment. I’m not even on about the “top five” leagues either!
@@brianlawrence8401 your a clueless clown, imagine going onto a football youtube page and commenting about someone being an Arab. what a roaster you are!
Absolutely love your content. My favourite football vlogger.
Thank you!!!
The small stand gets used Sam. It’s the place of the hardcore supporters Stand named the Derry
4 games this season called off due to the farmers field state of this park, the hierarchy of Scottish football quite happy keeping the embarrassment going without punishment
Well done on you getting access to the chairman and referee.
Shame the game was cancelled but one of the best vids owner ref fans interviews excellent
Fair play to the referee, coming out an explaining his decision
2:08 Did they buy that sand from the stadium up the road? 😂😂😂
I have to say, it's impressive you get content for a video on a match postponement. Sky sports switched their channels over to sky sports news. Yet here you are interviewing club owners and the referee. Please keep up the content.
Didn’t realise Jimmy Carr was a bluenose.
yip he dodged the taxman also
@@kevin-z7v8qyou probably dogged the taxman 😅
Dundee are a wonderful old Scottish club. I think one of the great headers of the ball Alan gilzean played pre Spurs for Dundee. A new ground should have a minimum capacity of twenty five k to compete for trophies
fantastinc interview been to dens 4 times wiht inverness never seen them win
It's their 4th home game postponed due to the condition of the pitch this season. As everyone can see, that is not just surface water and a waterlogged pitch. The grass doesn't suddenly die with a few hours rain - it's a coo field and they musta known before daylight today that the game was in doubt.Dundee FC must be held accountable - the only professional game in the whole of the UK called off. That is outrageous and nothing short of embarrassing
Dry your eyes ffs. There was staff working on it from 5am. I’m sure they must have thought there was a chance.
So the coo field of a pitch should just be accepted? 4 times in 1 sesson(so far) 🙈
@Superman-nn4nw If they were in at 5am they must have known there was a problem on Friday. Knowing it's record for postponements it should have been checked by the sfa.
Fair play to the ref speaking to you 👏
would you be able to come to the clash fraserburgh (h) vs brechin on the 6ty of april? Both ultras will be tgere
A great video ❤
In 1927, Motherwell of Scotland won the Copa Del Rey in Spain. The 100 year anniversary is coming up. Will there be a rematch between Motherwell and Real Madrid?
Dundee’s 4th home postponement this season. Dundee utd, who’s stadium is on the same street have 0 postponed games, welcome to the spfl folks!
Safe trip home😅
Let’s hope Nairn County get the match on for you in April 😮
Next weekend is non league day sam
Where will you be going i wonder:)
Nice Glasgow accent on that Rangers fan at 03:30......
Coudnt they have played it 50m down the road at Tannadice?
I didn't know Cary Grant designed football stadiums ? 🧐🧐🧐
@stevenlawton5319 😂😂 Oh dear
😅😅😅
Theres plans for the new stadium are superb theres some other clubs out there who should follow suit.
Great efforts Sam to get pretty decent video of content out of effectively nothing when you could have just scrapped it with the game being cancelled. And again congrats with completing the 42 mate
I admire your stamina.Good man.
He’s a good ref!
Staying at the invercarse again. Missus works there ;)
at least no teen girls felt up in the rangers end this time, there is always a bright side
LMAOOOO coming from a fan of a club who's got dozen upon dozens of active court cases for child abuse and promised to pay its vicTIMS but havent done so . Paedossss
Listen to this muppet stealing patter 😂 we all know what club touches up little kids in Scotland your da does the huddle with all the wee boys
Good vlog onece again
You should go to the glentoran vs linfield irsh cup semi final has everthing to be a good game on the 29th of March
Kids play on concrete with makeshift goals. Thankfully nobody stops them because it is unsafe. A crappy pitch is crappy for both teams, let them play.
That is an accident waiting to happen playing on that pitch & why should rangers risk serious injuries just because Dundee are penny pinching get real
Grown men playing football on a watery pitch is hardly dangerous. I would say there are thousands of sports which are more dangerous than this. Tell the ski jumpers they cant jump because it is too dangerous. The risk on a muddy pitch is the same for both teams. They are paid enough, so, get on with it. BTW my job involves climbing wind turbines. @@Parker_Douglas
Says the woman whose team's entitled supporters could have caused loss of life with another Bradford type inferno with their OTT pyros beside wooden stand at Dens!
Most of the clubs haven't got a pot to piss in, yet they all seem to be wanting to build new stadiums.
Not just rain... Scottish rain!! Which you know is some of the Worlds worst weather for sure! 😂

Just in case anyone else didn’t catch what was said by other posters. Apparently it’s the 4th (FOURTH) time games have been postponed at DENS PARK this season. 😂 😂 Only the current buns make an OTP fuss about it.
🚨Bigot alert🚨
Actually the full league is sick of Dundee ! It’s not funny for fans who made the journey up north ! You’re deflecting again . Don’t try & blame rangers fans for Dundee misgivings.
@janice506 it's even less funny for far travelled Dees fans.
Especially when Dons game cancelled an hour before kick off after we had to be up at 4am to make the journey!
Now for the rest of the scottish football pyramid we'll done mate in completing the 42
If a football club can't or won't bring there stadium or at the very least playing surface up to a professional standard then that club should not be anywhere near professional football
Teams with pitches that are unfit for purpose should be relegated and refused entry to the spfl
You should tour Lille stadium
You left Montrose FC till last 😢 😂👍

They should have asked they could have used tannadice
The mighty Whitburn 👌👌
Dundee don't need a new home; they need to spend money maintaining their pitch now. This is the fourth game postponed there this season and is nowhere near good enough for a club in the top flight. They're creating a problem to promote this new stadium as the saviour and will blame everyone else if it gets thrown out. Even if it doesn't it's years away and in the meantime they still have to play on that pitch. Get it sorted. Diddy club.
A diddy club that fans saved their team twice despite todays visitors failing to do so.
@@B190 Going into administration twice is no badge of honour.
It's not a diddy club but a diddy owner who doesn't understand economics of Scottish fitba or the tardiness of our Council planners!
Nelms is penny wise, pound foolish not to have spent enough on pitch drainage!
@@eileannach4350 To be fair though they have had a succession of diddy owners. Shite attracts shite.

(Old rangers, new rangers all the same, second best)
Wait…… so Rangers have existed BEFORE 2012??
Thanks for clearing that up. Takes a lot of guts for a Shellik man to admit the truth 👏🏻
@indigo8021 they aren't very smart 😂
@@indigo8021 you said it not me 😂, the club that was rangers and the club that is rangers.. doesn’t make a difference. Both been second best to Celtic the majority of the last two decades. You’ve had more managers in 3 season than trophies…
And yet your clubs is still not the most successful in the country
Oh oh someone’s countings not so good lolllll
New stadium?
So capacity 6000?
That's how fkd scottish football is.

They won't be selling to Morrissons - see their latest financial report - being ripped to bits by a hedge fund and will be lucky to survive
Dundee v Sevco Match postponed due to penalty spot being flooded.
Spot on! Clown Ref gifted them 2 goals in previous game at Dens!
It wasn't abandoned... It had nothing to do with the weather it's the park absolute tip🤬
It just highlights the state of Scottish football. For a Premiership club that’s an absolute embarrassment.
I’m not even on about the “top five” leagues either! Compare Scottish football to the Dutch Eredivise or the Danish SuperLiga. All the stadiums are modern and state of the art, the pitches are all immaculate and the player trading models are on a totally different level to what we see in Scotland.
What about Italy. The paisano's stadiums are in a worse state ma brutha.
